January 2008 Code Watch

The crowds during the marathon are not bad at all. There are lots of rooms taken because the runners stay at the park resorts, but the parks themsleves are very easy to navigate- and it's actually kinda cool watching the runners in the early am. Very insipring. My experience is that they are there to run- not ride rides. They pass through the parks in the marathon, and don't come back! I wouldn't hesitate to go during this week. If you want guaranteed non crowds- go the following week until mid February- there's no one there!

Add me to the list! We're not leaving until early Feb, but I'll take any heads-up that I can get! I'm hoping the no-crowd rule applies; we'll arriving the first full week of Feb and leaving a few days before the weekend before President's week (boy, that reads funny!). Things should be fairly quiet then? That's fine by me; I'll take cooler weather and earlier park closings over no crowds!
Also, with all these codes: would I be eligible if we have a Disney Visa to hear something from them? I thought I read from someone that they got a code b/c of their Visa, and before it went public? If so, that would be great!
Lastly, should I go ahead and book my room now? We're planning on staying at POR. I'm not worried about it being sold out or anything, but still... (I'm always thinking about this stuff too much!)

We'll be at POP -- last week of Jan and first week of Feb!!!! :cool1:

Budgeting for AAA discount, but hoping for a code. We got an awesome deal for our trip this past Nov-Dec!!

NYE=New Year's Eve. Last day of December/First day of January.

Sorry, couldn't resist. :rotfl:
There are so many abbreviations on the site, some of the most obvious ones take the longest to decipher!

The marathon is Jan 10-13.

Tiffany...so jealous you got to cruise! We had a blast though. Can't wait to go again. We're going to try the last week in Jan this year since last year we hit both the marathon weekend and mlk weekend. While it still wasn't bad we're hoping missing both those weekends will be even better.

I know the marathon was crazy... but fun to watch. We were going to go on a cruise.. a cruise for 4 days.. and WDW. But as of now we are just doing WDW for 6 days. I hope this feels like vacation. We normally cruise, but I really think this will be perfect for us this year.

Anybody have any idea on when a code may come out.. seems like I have read in the past this sometimes happens around oct/nov?

I would book now for Jan!! I just called to see about other resorts.. and could not get the view I wanted. So we stayed with AKL! I'm thinking more will open up.. but better safe than sorry! Tiffany

According to mousesavers.com, it came out the first of November....

Thinking of flying into Orlando on Jan 1st. Will the airports be a mad house with people leaving Disney? On the AAA discount, is it for a complete package with dining or room only or room and tickets? Do you get the same discount if you book AAA through Disney or do you have to book through a AAA agent? These codes being talked about, what is the difference in discount between these codes and the AAA discount? Sorry for all the questions. I am sooooo confused.

Don't know what the airport will be like on 1/1. It wouldn't bother me flying in a day lots of folks were leaving. I don't think it would impact arrivals too much.

You can book a room only reservation with a AAA discount directly with Disney. If you want a package (with dining) with a AAA discount you need to book with a AAA agent.

If Disney offers a discount code it won't be for a while but would most likely be better than a AAA except for some more expensive deluxe rooms. I usually do book a room with a AAA discount once my dates are firm and then I know I've got some discount. If Disney offers a better code deal I call to switch to that. Some codes aren't available at all resorts or all types of rooms so you've got to choose between your first choice resort/room and the discount.

I need a code for the first week in January. Add me too, please!

Also subscribing!!! Going Jan 1-8th. :cool1:
I had a question. I'm staying at the All-Star Suites. If a code is announced will they allow me to apply it to that particular resort. I thought I read somewhere that Disney doesn't usually allow any discounts to be applied for the ASSuites........???? I certainly hope so. I'm paying right now $179 a night, but of course i now that when the 08 rates are announced that will change. That's why I'm really hoping for some kind of discount!!!!!!;)
