January 2008 Code Watch

Just read about the DDP potential change in January 08. Not happy about that. I know it is not confirmed, but it would not seem like such a great deal to me if they no longer include the tip. May think of changing to December 07 now.

Mari

I think that having to tip on the DDP would be a deal breaker for me. Our family of four had bills at TS for $150- 20% of that is $30. Times the six days, not sure its worth that much money. Its already more food then we eat. I bought it on our last trip because I like knowing meals were paid for.

If we went out to dinner we would get one app not four. So tipping of food that we would not normaly order stinks. On the other hand to not order four app would make me feel like I was not getting my moneys worth.

Man this would really stink, Yes I'm complaining and venting

Well I am not to sure if we would qualify for a discount or not....
We are sailing on DCL from the 19-26 of Jan 08. I would love to spend the night of the 26th at WDW since it is our anniversay. Then fly home on Sunday. So all I am looking for is 1 night, hopefully at the Contemporary.

Any hope to get a discount??

We will be going at the end of January also! My Dance students always does Magic Music Days the last week in Januray into Febuary! I am looking to upgrade into another resort instead of the All Stars with the kids!

We're thinking Jan 17-21 and hoping for a discount. Also, how do I find out if anything big is going on then?

Wow! I am so glad I found this thread!:cool1: We are heading out January 16 to 23. Just after the marathon but there is a softball tournie at WWS Jan 16 to 19. DBIL is pitching for a New York team....I'm not sure of the name as he only does their big tournies for them. We thought we would show some family support and head down with him this year.....and well basically, we get a trip to DISNEY WORLD!! Anyway, I have barely made it throught the first page so I need to keep reading! haha Too exited!!:cheer2:

Me, too!

We are staying at a family members rental for 12 days from Dec.23 - Jan 4. We are extending our vacation 4 more days to take advantage of cheaper airfare home and less crowds at MK (we do not plan on visiting any of the parks until Jan. 1 or later!). I'm looking for a deal on a moderate or deluxe room-only rate for 4 nights (Jan 4 - Jan 8). It's value season so I am hopeful!:goodvibes

Hey, count me in, I guess. Our dates aren't really definite yet, but hoping for late January-early Februa:cool1: ry. It will be our first trip and we are SO excited!

I know Marathon wknd is the 11-13th. DF would like to go during Disney's "Wonderful Weeks". And...we would like to stay at a more "centrally located" hotel. I was thinking WL, although I would LOVE Poly! We are also eligible for SOG, however, we need ME and DDP.

ok question, what is "wonderful Weeks"????

Went ahead and made ressies at SOG for marathon weekend. I'm afraid everything will sell out if I don't. If a good code comes out that is cheaper than SOG (plus the price of transportation to and from the resort included because then we could use ME) we will switch. Here's hoping!

Hi,

I'm new here. Planning our first trip to Disney Jan. 2008. I was wondering what were discount codes and hoping for some tips. We are staying in POFQ.

Thanks,

It was my families first trip last Jan. That was supposed to be a "once in a lifetime" trip!!!! Ha! We're going back this Jan. and probably every year or two after that!

I didn't know about codes, just went through AAA. But keep looking on here to keep informed... there were ticket upgrades last Jan. We are hoping for at least the same if not a nice 40% off room rate or something like that!!!!

As for my tip... I HIGHLY reccomend Tour Guide Mike! We felt like Disney pros on our very first trip! We never waited in a line! My kids teased me about it (even whined a couple of times), UNTIL.... we were riding Big Thunder Mountain for the 3rd time that day... in the Fast Pass Line... while everyone else was sweating it out in a 60 minute line!!!! Then... the lightbulb went off in my dear family's heads and I was a hero! So that is my two cents or a tip....:hippie:

Have fun!!! Planning is half the fun!

I hope your right about Tourguidemike! I have already paid for it.. and loving all the info. Will love it more when more info on the parks become available. :)

How many days did you do last year? How many for you this year?

Thanks for the replies.

Tour guide Mike? Glad i found this thread.....I am such a newbie. LOL!

DD will be 7.....and a princess fan. Ariel in particular. A character dinner for sure.

Tour Guide Mike or TGM is a planning service that you pay for (about $18 through the link at the top of most DIS pages). It is a lot to read through, but I discovered him just 3 days before we left last year. I used his sample itineraries to tour the parks. He has articles regarding everything from how to use fast passes to where to watch fireworks and parades. If you follow his touring plans, you will probably never wait in a line for very long! Plus you will save yourself from having to criss cross all over the park trying to get from one attraction to the next!

Once you subscribe to TGM, there are also forums, just like this, that you can visit for more information and to ask questions about TGM plans. (We are bound to secrecy outside of those forums... that's how good the info is!)

As to the previous poster... we were there for 6 nights last time (Jan. 5-11) Not nearly enough time!! We will be staying for 8 nights this time and I still wish it could be longer! We will be there Jan. 4-12.

Gosh... I love planning, talking and remembering WDW!!! I can't believe how addicting one trip can be!!!!
