January 2008 Code Watch

Where do I find this? Is it a general code for all Canadians?

yes look at the top of the main forums page...there is a link!
I must have gotten a room discount for sure....maybe 10% or something - will have to look at it more closely when I have time!

Here's the link to the DIS info about the Canadian discount. Most likely the general public code we'll get in the U.S. (which will probably be announced sometime end of OCT/beginning of NOV) will be the same. (NOTE: JAN 18, 19 and 20 are NOT included in the discount dates...this is MLK weekend).

Yes, you most likely have a room discount.
I have used the code for this type of discount 2 years now. I always book MYW + dining with park hoppers with preferred room. I never include water parks, however, when I added the code to my ressie I always ended up with free park hoppers and water parks, plus about 8-10% discount off the room, still maintaining my preferred room ressie as well.

Just wanted to post that I received the email PIN code! :cool1: FIRST TIME EVER!

BUT, I didn't use it :rotfl2:

When I called to get the new pricing for our room using the PIN, it did save us about 6% off the cost of the room (he was able to figure out how to use the PIN to give me a room-only discount rather then applying the PIN to a package which we don't need since 2 of us have APs).

Now, the best part...I have been trying to get a AAA discount applied to our room since the AAA 2008 rates came out with no luck. On the off chance that finally something would go my way, I asked about it again after he was done looking up the PIN info....AND THEY HAD IT! :woohoo: AAA saves me 15% off the room, which was much better then the PIN's 6% so I snagged it!

Now I just need to wait and see if AP discount will save me any more then that once the January AP rates come out.

Does anyone know if/how these codes will work for trips that include the holiday weekend? We're staying 11 nights, starting the Wed before the holiday, and I am really hoping there will be some way to apply the code to our trip.

i want to know this too! will i have to make two separate reservations to use the code?? that would stink!

Tried to get the Canadian discount........................... but by the time I called it was sold out! :(

Hopefully something else will come out soon!

hey guys... the ones that is getting the pin in the email. have you stayed there before ? we never stayed there before this will be a first for us.

The CM at reservations wouldn't even look! Said I had a good enough rate considering Disney was giving me a comp room because there are four in my reservation. One whom needs roll in shower and that room only holds two! I was furious and let him know it that! That is standard law....room must be able to accommodate four people.....Since Disney couldn't provide that with roll in shower room, then that was their problem and not mine! So because I have a disabled person im my party, I am not entitled to discount:mad:

You would have to have 2 reservations. 1st for wed-sun you can't separate and get the code for wed and thurs because it's not 3 nights then you can get a second reservation for mon-rest of the trip. It probably isn't worth it because for each package you have to buy at least a 1 day base park ticket where if you buy a longer ticket each day is like $3 per day so paying that $75 a person twice eats up a lot of savings. If you just pay for hoppers and one water park or disney quest visit you would come out almost exactly the same really except for whatever the room discount is (usually about 6%). If you are staying deluxe it might be worth the hassle of checking in and out and maybe having to change rooms or you could do a split visit and stay in 2 resorts. If you don't plan on a water park use then it's almost definitely not worth the hassle.

Ack! I was hoping it would work the way the Dec codes are - a higher rate on the excluded dates, but no need to break up the ressie to get the discount on the dates it is good for. I know it wouldn't be worth it to break up the ressie, because of the premium for shorter tickets and because our itinerary is built around having hoppers from the start. Sucks, though, to be stuck paying rack rate for all 11 nights because that weekend happens to be in the middle of our trip.

I believe that you get admission to the Downtown Disney stuff too. Pleasure Island and Disney Quest.

Waterparks in January are a hit or miss as far as I'm concerned. I would love a better rate! That is what I'm hoping for, but not holding my breath.

Yeah, I second that. I doubt we would use any of the water parks and more option.

Just FYI, I booked using a pin, and 4 nights, 5 days at WL std room with PH's for our family of 4 (dd11, ds12) would have been $2124.68, and with base tickets, it would have been $1933 per WDW website. I paid $1766.62, so it seems to me that I must have gotten a slight room reduction, too; seems to be about 18%, if I'm doing my math right. The package also includes the mini golf voucher, the sea raycer voucher, and the planet hollywood $15 off. Just thought those numbers might help those trying to see if AAA or AP would be a better discount, and I would think it would be the same with the general code that is expected to be released soon.:goodvibes

I used it last year to see things I wouldn't ordinarily pay for to see if they were worth the money for next time or not. We decided they weren't, but if they are free we will enjoy taking our kids to Disney Quest for the pirates ride. We did it alone and kept talking about how fun it would be for our whole family. So for us, the code means the pirate ride at DQ.

I've always wondered about DQ but didn't want to waste money on trying it in case we hated it. This year, I'll check out a water park if we get a warm day. If not, surely they have hot tubs, which will be handy in January. Last January, we were so cold at CSR that we couldn't get to the hot tubs. We were too cold to even crack our door open and put a toe out!

I'm still hoping for a little something off the room rate though. We did save a little on that last year too. Although we're camping for only $63 a night-- so how much could we possibly save?! :flower3:

That's a really good idea. I had thought of doing the same thing, but I honestly don't know if my kids are old enough for any of the extras. I thought my DH might like DQ, but he didn't seem interested. I'll have to do some research and see what there is for younger kids. Still, I'll take an imperfect deal over no deal any time! :yay:

Eeek! We're staying over the holiday also, sucks I won't be able to use a discount either. Maybe we'll get lucky and the holiday won't be excluded.....wishfull thinking, I know!

On another thread where I asked the same question I got a different answer, so I think all we can do is wait and see. I'm still hoping that we'll be able to apply it!
