January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

I just checked the date on the ps calculator and its come back with the date of 5th Nov, so I guess that means we will all be logging on trying to book our ressies at midnight on Sunday! Good job we double checked! :goodvibes

I just tried to reserve the semisub at Coral World on my own. They responded that they are COMPLETELY booked that day as there are SEVEN ships in St. Thomas that day!!! :scared1: No wonder we have to tender that day.

I guess I will have to hope the excursion is still available next week when we can make our reservations! :sad2: So much for saving some money & going at our own pace...

I know that Palo may be gone next week. How are the excursions usually at the 75 day mark?

Do we know for certain that the Magic is using a tender? How does one find this out. We are doing an excursion on our own, but it would be best for us to be off the boat first thing.

thanks,

cheryl

I have not heard anything from DVC. THe passholder email just came yesterday. It looks like the dates are official and you can book through the passholder site. I plan to do it today. Here it is:

Also for non-passholders etc. There is a limited special offer.

I am trying to make sure I everything straight as a first timer and I would appreciate your help! I have already learnt a lot from these boards - thank you all, but I still have a few questions that perhaps our seasoned cruisers can answer.

Do we start our rotational dining on the first night? i.e If our restaurant for the Saturday is AP, will that be the night that they do the show?

What night are formal and semi formal nights?

Is it correct that brunch and high tea at Palos are only on sea days?

TIA

--Kay

Kay,
Thanks for the info on the party, I am going to look into it...

OK, if you start your rotation in AP, the "show" is only on the first night you are in AP.
Formal night is Sunday, semi is Thursday.

I am not sure about brunch and Tea, but I do think they are only on sea days.

Gixer, I added you to the list, sorry guys, I had some oral surgery done, and am not feeling to hit right now. I will try to get everyone posted tonight(once the drugs wear off) who is participating.

Update - Called MS back today and got the DVC discounted tickets ($29.95 Adult and $25.95 Children). According to what I read, we will be able to go into the MK at 4:00pm on the 26th.

Looking forward to seeing everyone...

Gee, and I was thrilled I got the tickets for 33...lol To bad we aren't DVC members. So is it only DVC members that can get in at 4? I was told the P and P party started at 7. :confused3

I think we may go to the Animal Kingdom once we check in on Saturday, since we now have tickets for Saturday night.

Beth,

From what I have heard, P&P ticket holders can get in at 4pm - I wish I had known this when we went to MK for MMNSSHP one year.

I wish I could go - but I have already booked my illuminations cruise!

OK fellow cruisers........I AM LOOKING FOR SOME KIDS! ANYONE HAVE A COUPLE OF THE EARLY TEEN VARIETY? I HAVE A DAUGHTER WHO IS IN THE
9TH GRADE AND A SON IN THE 7TH GRADE THAT WOULD LOVE TO GET TO KNOW SOME OTHER KID CRUISERS BEFORE WE GO.

Ok, I am done yelling. My kids always have had so much more fun when they have met friends here and then met on the ship. They are a little disappointed that I have slacked off and not found them some friends to email/im. If you and/or your kids are interested let me know. Of course my children are bright, mannerly, respectful, and to top it off beautiful! (remember I am their mother:rotfl2: , they really are pretty good kids though)

When is the 75 day mark? I know some of you are anxiously awaiting the day. Good luck with all of your reservations.

We have officially ended the first quarter of school and this trip lands on the last week of next quarter (finals week). In teacher world this is the perfect week for me to take off because I am done with my part and it is time for the kids to "show what they know". We are a quick novel and a little Shakesphere away from cruising.

Have a great weekend everyone. It is starting to get a little chilly in Ohio.

My DD has been posting on the kids meet thread for our cruise also trying to get some kids to respond. She is younger than your kids, but maybe if they post there we'll get more people looking at it! I'll find it and bump it to try to make it easier for you to find.

11 weeks and 56 min. before our cruise:cool1: .......but who's counting;)

Brett

So are we all ready to log on tomorrow (Sun) evening 12 midnight EST? :surfweb: 75 day mark is the 5th November. For those of you from the UK that's easy to remember...

Thankfully the log on time is only 9pm here - after getting up at 3am to book the illuminations cruise I am glad this one works in my favor

I have my list and hope I can get at least some of my choices...

-Kay

OK, so I got on the Website and it is now open to those who can reserve at the 75 day mark. We got a couple of things. The only Palo reservations were either the first night on the day we board or the night we leave Castaway Cay. We opted for the last night. Also, I got Jennifer a Massage appointment on the morning of the last sea day.

Good luck to everyone else...

Just wanted to say Hi to everyone! My family and I are going on the Jan. 19 cruise and are so excited. This is our first cruise. Just made our excusion reservations. Didn't make Palo reservation as only days available were first and last. Heard half of Palo reservations are held out for those w/o internet. Any truth?

Amanda :cool1:

P.S. How do you add the cool signatures on the side? I'm totally clueless!:)

How did everyone get on with their reservations? I logged on at midnight and couldnt get access to the ''my cruise plans'' then after a lot of cussing and threatening to throw the laptop at the wall DH asked if there might be any time difference......:headache: and it turns out East coast are 3 hours behind the Falklands, so guess who stayed up until 3am?!

I just got done with booking everything, the only Palo reservations available were the first and last night, so we opted for the last night, not great but better than not at all I guess, I was sooooooo dissapointed that there were no brunch ressies available! :sad2:

The coral world sub trip at St Thomas was also booked out, so we are just doing coral world without the sub, its an 8am start so I suppose we will be some off the first tendered off the ship that morning, and we still have all afternoon to look around the shops and do the skyride paradise point trip on our own, shame about missing out on the subride though :sad1:

I did get all my spa treatments though with no problem at all, even a couples massage in the cabanas at Castaway cay which REALLY shocked me I thought they would have all been long gone so I am very happy about that :cool1: And I booked the kids a banana boat ride too which I think they will love.

So I got everything I pretty much wanted, I really would like to do the brunch though, where do I head too once we board the ship to try and make a reservation or ask to be waitlisted incase they get a cancellation?

Hope you all managed to get the reservations booked that you were hoping for! :goodvibes

I am not happy :-(

I logged on at the correct time only to get a message saying that either our birthdays were not in or we hadn't paid. Incorrect on both accounts. Of course no one was available to sort it out.

This morning it has miraculously fixed itself, but all I couldn't get anything I wanted - everything was taken. If something was available, the only times that were left were silly o'clock in the morning and ones that clashed with our dinner seating . Arghhh...

:sad2: :sad2: :sad2:

Just hoping we can get some of the reservations on the morning of check in...

-Kay

Well, after a few error messages, I got in at 12:09am. Only Palo available was first & last nights for dinner - no brunches. We had wanted either Weds or Thursday nights, but maybe we'll be able to change on the boat. We took the Friday night one as I'm not sure DS4 would be comfortable at the Club on the first night.

We wanted the Coral World with Semi-sub as well. Gixer -I am trying to work with them directly to squeeze me in. I'll let you know how that turns out and will give you the email address of the woman I am working with if it turns out she can do anything (she is seeing if she can add me to a Celebrity group at 11AM).

I am waiting to book my spa appointments until I'm onboard - if I am not getting cabana massages are those easy enough to get onboard?

Thanks that would be great, if you get any luck booking the sub seperatly then I would really appreciate the email address of the person who is sorting it out for you, did you go ahead and book the coral world trip without the sub part anyway or are you doing the excursion independantley?

Kay - sorry you didnt get the ressies you wanted, looks like a lot of us have been dissapointed, lets hope we all manage to get a few things booked once on board.

Welcome Amanda to the January thaw!

I am hoping to do it independently.

Just answered my own question about the spa. Not much availability already except during port times. That was stupid of me not to do it last night. I was just really tired...:headache:
