January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Sorry yall its been a while since ive posted but been busy on this end of the world. Got my package for disney and its so hard to pick and choose. But cant wait for January. Im also psyched for the dis meet for the bags. i think do the big mickey tag for the doors as well...well time to hit the books..Studying for culinary arts. Gonna be a chef.

can someone explain what the fish extenders are for and what we would put in them? :confused3

Thanks :goodvibes

Here is my understanding. Mind that this is my 1st Disney cruise so I am just basing it on what I have read. If my understanding is incorrect, please let me know.

A fish extender is basically some hanging pockets that you hang next to your cabin door. Other Disers will leave things in the pockets each day so you have surprises when you return to your cabin each evening.

Here is another thread with more info...

Good Monday morning everyone!!!
Wow....I get busy for a few days and have some major catching up to do...

I hope everyone is enjoying fall...LOL...I know here in NC it was 92 on the first day of fall.

Ok...I need everyones help...Cheryl..sounds like you got volunteered to head up the DIS meet...Maybe you could ask your concierge team where a good place to meet would be..

I can do the bag exchange and DIS TAG. What I need is a current list of all us DIS'ers. Jim, I do believe you are the keeper of the list??? If you could post it or send it to me in a PM or email..Bethipooh4 at aol.com. I would appreciate it.

Then I need everyone who is planning on participating in one or both to either post here, PM or email me.

I know with the DIS Tag, we need stateroom numbers so we can find each other. I had though about doing a list to hand out at the meet with everyone who wants to play tag. Some people are hesitant to post their cabin number, so you can PM me or email me and I will add it that way.

I think that covers everything for now. Yes, I have obsessive planning disorder...or as my son would say..mom, you are bossy...lol:rotfl:

Ohhh what a great idea! will there be a list of people and their cabin numbers who are going to have fish extenders? or do you just wander round the ship looking for them? :rotfl:

One of the posts in the link you gave me had the dimensions and instructions on how to make them, I am no seamstress but it will be fun giving it a go!

Thanks for the info! xxx

Castaway Club members can book 90 days out, which is Oct 21, all others can book 75 days, which would be Nov. 3 or 4.

All right. So I thought I understood all this DISer stuff. But, now I am confused yet again!

What is the difference between the bag exchange and DIS TAG? :confused3

Also, I came across this magnet from the 10/27 meet (post #476)

We should do something like this! By we, I of course mean YOU!:rotfl:

Is anyone interested in trying to do a group for PALO brunch? If so, does anyone know how to go about that? I don't mind taking the reins on it, I just wouldn't know where to start...:woohoo:

Ohhh Ohhh Ohhh!!! I think I know the answer to this one!!! :rotfl2:

Dis bag exchange is where you fill a gift bag with all bits n pieces from your state/country and then at the DIS meet (time and place still to be arranged) each bag goes onto a table and then lots are drawn to see who gets which bag. Not sure what Dis tag is, I think its a Dis card that gets left in peoples fish extenders, they sign it then drop it into someone elses extender....at least I think thats what it is!

Getting so excited now! Sign me up for all of it!!! meets, brunch, tag, fish extenders, tequila tasting, afternoon beers, pre dinner cocktails, after dinner whatevers Im doing it all! :lmao:

WOW If I had a prize to give out, you would get it!!!! Awesome answer..and right!!!!

With the DIS tag we can either do a card, or make a gigantic poster/magnet for the door....I think I posted a pic once before, but here it is again!!!

O.K. everyone....I am on it!!! It seems that we are pretty free to meet anywhere where there is enough space, and something isn't already going on. The lounge does appear to be big enough, so we can plan on that, we can't book anything ahead, and there does not seem to be a fee.... So then the question is what time....many seem to get together at 3:00 before the muster drill. My only concern is that our group will be coming from WDW and I can't get a definitive answer on what time the bus gets to OKW, so therefore, I would hate to be late!!!! At best, it seems we would get there around 1:00, at worst, around 2:30...which we would have to rush to get to the lounge. I don't know what everyone else is planning the day of, soooooo we can discuss time when we get a little closer ;) .

Also, jsheridan, I got the info for our VR, and Cathy told me that Palo does not accept reservations for groups larger than 10. So if we did want to do a dismeet thing at Palo, I don't know how we could get tables that would fit everyone.

Thanks for the timeline Brett.....I just counted and I can book on Oct 6th or 7th. I figured I would look on our time countdown on your postings :) so I will be on the right date.

Have a great day everyone!!!!!!!!

Cheryl

I just thought of one more thing.....do we do a bag for each family? or for each person?

che

I know Palo has a private dining room, for large groups, but I have no clue how many it holds or even how to book it.

As far as the timing of the meet, we don't have to have it the first day..we could always have it on Sunday, since its a sea day. That way no one is rushing to try to make a 3 pm meet. Our only competition is football...:rotfl:

I was assuming it would be one bag per DIS family. Thats how we did it last cruise. But then I had made some little goodies that I handed out during the cruise as "surprises".

To me, its whatever we decide to do.:upsidedow

I looked into the private room at Palo. There is a minimum of 12 & maximum of 14. We can fax in a request for either the brunch (10:30) or dinner (6:30) and our choice of dates. They won't make any reservations until they see the number of requests received - usually around 30 days out.

So, we all would still need to make our own private reservations in case this didn't pan out.

I would be happy to organize this if people are interested. If there is enough interest, we could always request more than one.

If you are interested, please let me know whether you would want to do a dinner or brunch. If there is enough interest, we can figure out which day works best & then I can collect names/cabins as needed. :grouphug:

Beth.....it isn't just football.....it may interfer with my RASUL!!!!1:rotfl2:

I suppose we could work around it!!;)

I can't believe that we are this close!!!!!!!

jsheridan, Cathy did mention that room to me, but thought that the Magic held off reserving it....it made me nervous because we have 11 adults for my VR, so I wanted to be certain that we would be able to sit there for dinner that night. But, we would love to do brunch...we were going to try and get a reservation for Monday brunch....but I am wondering what seating rotation we have, and I have to be certain I don't have any plans during the time of the chef teaching thing they have....the art of entertainment....I really want to do that...and then there is the Martini tasting, and the spa....I could just go on and on :rotfl:

Just my 2 cents worth, but the one bag per family would definatley work out easier for us as we have a very long journey and limited baggage, dont want to spoil the fun but at the same time I need to be practical!
As far as the meet goes, we are easy and will go with the flow, we are happy to go whatever day/time its arranged, whether it be the first day or a sea day, thanks all you thawers who are busy working out all this stuff for us.....I honestly wouldnt know where to begin! :grouphug:

Well we are up to 30 Dis Families on this cruise - so even at one per family, that's 30 bags!

Ditto on the traveling stuff - we have a distance to travel and limited luggage space (just not traveling as far as Gixer!)
