January 19,2008 / Eastern Magic / "The January Thaw Cruise"

Welcome onboard all the new folks since I last checked. :)

I can't believe it is only 4 months till the cruise. So many things left to figure out and get done....
- Trip insurance
- Flights
- Are we arriving a day early and staying overnight or the same day
- To rent a car and drive out or to get transfers
- Excursions

Aieeee. It's too much. Our first cruise was so much simpler when we didn't know anything!!

Hope everyone is doing well,
Jim

Perhaps I shouldn't have found the Disboards and done so much research! Then our first cruise would be soooo much easier! LOL! But maybe not as much fun!

-Kay

We booked last October on our last Eastern and I have a new job!:confused3

I can't commit to getting to know everyone here because I fear a broken heart:confused: if it comes back denied.

Goodness!!!!! I am offline and away for a few days, and WOW did we get alot of new thawer's added!!!

So...WELCOME TO EVERYONE!!!

I am planning on the beginning of October(providing no one objects) to getting the DIS Bag info started...just getting the list going and such..

So did anyone have and ideas for the meet?

And is anyone interested in an ongoing game of DIS Tag?

I hope everyone has a terrific week!

With this many people I am thinking we may need to rent out the Walt Disney Theatre ;)

Ok, so they probably wouldn't do that. I'm not sure where a group of this size could actually get together. It's going to be fun!

Jim

Hello Thawers!

Havent had the chance to DIS for ages and WOW! Look at all the new folks added to the list! Welcome everyone who has joined the January thaw :cool1:

Beth, I dont get to spend as much time as Id like on the boards at the moment, and I dont want to miss out on the giftbag info, if you are going to create a list of people who are taking part would you please add me? if you could pm any details that would be fantastic, thanks Honey!

Do you think they'd let us have Studio Sea? The Promenade Lounge might hold everyone - but we'd overtake the whole area! If all else fails, Deck 9 or 10 would undoubtedly hold us all.

4 more months!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :woohoo: :woohoo:

Just had to get that out. Welcome all new cruisers...this is going to be great. I am going to work on my fish extender this weekend, and start looking for RI "things" for my bags. The good thing is that tourist season is coming to a close, so I should be able to get some great deals on postcards and such.

Have a great day!!!!!!!!:yay: :yay:

Cheryl

Oh yeah, I was thinking that maybe we could put a question out there and ask other LARGE groups, like ourselves, what they did for space. I will put the thread on the general post area.

Che, thanks for taking the reins on the meet. I am looking forward to meeting everyone. Of course DH thinks I am crazy and obsessed and figures that this meet will just be full of other crazy, obsessed people. :lmao: I'm guessing he is right! Should be fun!

I am working with someone online who is making me a fish extender (I don't sew or have ANY craft ability what so ever. :confused3 Well worth the money to have someone do it that has a clue!). I have been purchasing clothes for DS4 at all the end of summer sales for the cruise (he normally only wants to wear tshirts so he now has some collar shirts for dinner that he actually likes!). I even bought a surfsafe (waterproof container for wallet, etc. while at beach) at EMS!

I am still waiting for Southwest to offer internet rates. $170 each way from Manchester is WAY too much. They are out for December, so I'm hoping it won't be too long. Then, just need to book my rental car!

It is getting more & more real!!! :cool1: Yay!

Well I finally bought my flights on Southwest. MHT to MCO $257. More than I'd like to pay, but I was getting anxious (the fact that we had 2 RR tickets, so I only had to pay for 2 not 4 helped).

FYI for those looking at SW. For MHT-MCO the rates today show $170 each way if you book one-way. R/T shows a lower rate but it is in the next to last column - the last column is still the promotional $170 rate. I went on a couple times before I noticed since I am used to just looking at the rate to the far right. Also a little tricky that you couldn't get the good rate with a one-way, which is how I usually book SW.

Well the good thing about booking with Southwest is that if their rates do come down you can just change your flight and get the credit. The only downside to booking early is that you have to pay right away. :)

I'm just waiting for our second frequent flier coupon to be ready and then will book our 2 free ones and our 1 non-free.

Jim

 I feel so silly... Thank goodness you guys are here to help me with the simplest of things!

Well, $770ish is better than $1200ish (but still not great). We now have our flights booked! Fly in on Friday afternoon and fly home Sunday night (after a 2 day stop at Seaworld). :yay:

I haven't been to Seaworld since I was a kid and since they are having the buy 1 ticket - come another day free special, it makes sense. We will go for 2 partial days on Saturday & Sunday so as not to completely burn ourselves (or DS4) out.

Stacieps - where are you from? We live in Tyngsboro, MA - we border Nashua, NH.

We are in central NH (Laconia).

That SW pricing was tricky! I wouldn't have noticed the "discount" fares column and the r/t vs. oneway differences if I hadn't read it on the transportation board.

We are flying down Friday night also, but we will return on Saturday early afternoon. We're going to WDW for a week in April, so I guess I'll have to hold out until then to get to some parks!

I'm glad the flights are booked - one less thing to worry about. I will watch SW though to see if I can get a credit towards April!

So, I just was online :surfweb: & figured I'd check the pricing for our cruise. When I put in for 2 adults & a 4 year old - our cruise does not come up!!!

If I just put in the 2 adults, it does. I guess that means that all the spots for ages 3-4 are full.

Who says January is quiet?
