January 17th, 2016 Southern Wonder Cruise

Hi all,
I have booked six of us for the 1/17 cruise (deck 2, midship)...
Me, my wife, and our kids (Samuel - 9, Clare - 7, Willem - 4, and Blaise - 16mo) I have been on cruises, but nobody else has (and none of us, Disney). Please help! This "Disney community" thing is overwhelming. I want to help my family get the most enjoyment possible but feel like I'm in over my head... sob! :worried:

One thing I'm looking forward to is Martinique... as we are from Canada, the kids have had the opportunity to be in full French school. This will be a great opportunity for them to practice their language skills, as my French is limited to basic words and inappropriate phrases. :guilty:

I got my Disney mail today too but told I won't get state room till two weeks prior because we booked in a late category. I promise I'll give it to you then. May need to wait a few days for closing the FE as some people haven't gotten their mail yet.

Hi Jason and Catherine. First of all you are going to have a blast and Disney cruising is a whole new experience. One thing I never counted on when we went on our first cruise, is how entertained our kids would be in the kids club and how we would have some extra time to rest and do adult things. As far as planning, have a look through the port adventures on the Disney cruise line reservation section and decide what kind of things you want to do. We are trying to organize some fish extenders and if you google Disney cruise line fish extenders (FE) you'll learn all about it and decide if you are interested.

Hi Everyone
VMEDISNEYMOM and I are trying to set us the Fish extenders. We had set a December 16th deadline but considering some people haven't gotten their Disney mail yet, perhaps we can wait a few days. VMEDISNEYMOM suggested sending her a personal message with your stateroom and details of your party if you are interested in joining us for the FE. Not sure if you can post your info on the blog here or not, but may also be an alternative. So if you are interested, please let us know as most FE seem to close around a month prior to travel before things get too busy.

The FE idea sounds like it might be fun. How do I register for it? Also, there has been mention above of getting Disney mail. I booked the trip months ago through a travel agent, but have yet to receive anything in the mail from Disney. Should I be worried?

Cruise documents are just now arriving in the mail, so no cause to worry. However, contact your TA and let them know your fellow passengers are receiving their documents. Most TAs will forward any documents they receive immediately, but a few may not be as prompt so it doesn't hurt to let them know you're expecting them.

Hi! So excited. Just booked this cruise today. We've done 2 Disney cruises before but this is our first Southern Caribbean. The ports look awesome. It will be me, Katie, my husband, Joe, and 12yo son James. I sent a PM regarding FE if it's not too late as we've done it on past cruises and really enjoyed it. Off to research port adventures :earsboy:

So the end of the week is approaching and hopefully we have some interested families for the FE. Please be sure and send in your PM and let us know if you are interested. I, like a few others, will not have a room assignment till two weeks before but we can still give our information and be put on the list.

vmedisneymom,

Thank you... I would like to do exactly that... Now, how do I send a private message on this site? I've looked all over and am now going bald, pulling out my hair in frustration. Luckily, I can buy mouse ears to cover it up :D. Apparently I'm not as e-savvy as I thought. Is it possible for you to post one to me, and I can respond?
Jason
PS, I do have several questions, but perhaps I'd better save them for a one on one conversation so as not to bog down the whole forum.

Just found out why I can't figure out the whole pm thing... Apparently I have to post 10 messages first????

Yes. Once you've gotten your 10 posts, it takes a little time for the system to recognize you've done it (about 3-60 minutes). Then, by clicking on a person's avatar, you'll find the "Start a new conversation" link. Also by hovering over your "Inbox" in the upper right.

Thanks princessshmoo. I've gone now from pulling my hair and crying to rolling my eyes and groaning. You aren't going on this trip, perchance? Any advice would help immensely.

Just now found you guys...better late than never, y'all! This is our second cruise ever, and first Disney cruise to celebrate our 15th anniversary. We are beyond excited. It will be myself, Kenja, my husband Kenny, and our almost 4 year old son, Beckett. We are from Texas. I'm kinda freaking out about my son staying at the Oceaneer Club some while the hubby and I have some fun time, so I would love to hear from others who have done that and how it worked out for you. I'm really excited to meet you guys because on our last cruise 5 years ago (Carnival) we met some people that we are still friends with and have gone to visit in Chicago, so I know it can be a great opportunity to meet GREAT people!
