January 17th 2014 Disney Magic 3 Night Bahamas Cruise

Greetings everyone,
We will be on this cruise with you all. It is our first Disney cruise and was a kind of spur of the moment thing! We are excited!

My friend who is also going tells me I need to sign up for the fish extender thing. I see that I need to send a PM but I have to have 5 posts first, so this is why I am posting - don't know what else to do! Odd rule. :)

Anyhoo - looks like I have tons to read!
Cheers!
Betsy

We surprised our girls (13 & 10) with this cruise for Christmas. Hubby and I have cruised before but never the girls. We are totally excited!!! Considering the fish extender but wondering if I really have time to pull it off at this late notice. Thoughts?

Hi decked out,
If you happen to read this, please PM me. I have been trying to send you a PM to join the FE but they are not going through.

Thanks!
Betsy

Sure! To simplify, you can do gifts by stateroom, rather than for each individual. To save time, effort and expense, use a tote bag for your FE. Some people have recommended securing your FE/tote bag with a cable tie to discourage people from taking it. We have participated in several FE's but we don't even have a "regulation" FE. We have always used a tote bag or Christmas stocking. :santa: And there is regifting. (was that out loud?) :)

I'll send you a PM and I think you can reply to that if you want to be in on the FE.

BetsyE: Also sent you a PM, and am adding you to the list, pending your FE details...

Hi folks: I am not on these boards every day, so don't panic if you don't get an immediate response on the FE. If you let me know that you are IN for the FE by midnight Jan 3, you can assume that you are IN.

If you want in on the FE and cannot contact me by PM, post here and we can tidy up the details after the deadline. I plan to finalize the list and post an update on Jan 4.

I don't see a problem posting stateroom/occupant info on this thread since the info is useless to anyone not on our cruise. However, I understand if you prefer to handle this confidentially by PM.

Thanks!

As of today, the FE has 20 staterooms and 66 participants including 34 adults and 32 children.

The FE closes on Jan 3. On Jan 4, I will finalize the list and post a final update on this thread. No new participants/staterooms will be added after Jan 3, but I will continue to update the list with changes and corrections.

If you want to participate in the FE Gift Exchange please send me a PM (private message) with the stateroom number, number of adults/children with ages of children. If applicable, special concerns (food restrictions, allergies, etc).

Optional
Genders, names, special occasions.
Anything else you want people to know.

If you want in on the FE and cannot contact me by PM, post here and we can tidy up the details after the deadline.

If you are not familiar with the FE Gift exchange, please read this post: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=33184281&postcount=2

Also see my original post on the FE here: http://www.disboards.com/showpost.php?p=48723626&postcount=4

Ok, I've decided to try the FE. I know it will be fun. I just hate getting in on such short notice. I emailed you so you would have our info!
Thanks!!!!

You will love it! So much fun. No pressure. We've gotten really nice things and very simple things. We've gone all-out on some cruises and been more modest on others. But it all evens out in the big picture. The fun part is going to deliver (and seeing other parts of the ship) and coming back to any treasures in your FE. No matter how small, it is always fun!

Now that Christmas is over I had better start thinking of FE...:artist:

I am adding you to the list and will send you a pm to which you should be able to reply. There are a few who do not have their stateroom assignments and I can get those later.

Plan to give at least one gift per stateroom and we are at 22 staterooms so far.

Some people keep it simple and give something that can be enjoyed by the entire stateroom. Others go overboard with pretty nice gifts for each individual. We usually do gifts by stateroom, with consideration to the ages and genders of the children. If there are children of the age where presents are a big deal (3-12 yrs?), we might set out individual gifts for them. Inexpensive stuff, refrigerator/door magnets, pens, pencils, notebooks, stickers, candy, small puzzles or games, nick nacks and souvenirs. Really, I am just ad libbing here because Liz does all the gifting legwork... :rolleyes1

Hello, everyone! We will be on this cruise also and are SO excited! We have been on five cruises, but this is our first Disney cruise. It will be me (Jennifer), my husband (Lorne) our 8 year old daughter (Natalie) and our 1 year old daughter (Lucy).
I booked this cruise last March and we surprised our oldest daughter on Christmas. I have not done all the neurotic pre-planning for this cruise because I was being so secretive about it. I am feeling a little unprepared with only two weeks to go!
Because of the short amount of time left and already feeling a little stressed about getting things ready, I don't think we will be participating in the Fish Extender exchange. It sounds like a lot of fun, though!
My 8 year old (Natalie) loves to meet new people and would be so excited to have someone she "knew" be in the kids club with her. If anyone has a daughter around that age, let me know.
If anyone has tips about cruising with a 13 month old (I am a little nervous - Natalie didn't go on her first cruise until she was three years old) I would love to hear them.
I am sorry I didn't find this group sooner!

Welcome! My daughter Paige is 7 (8 in March). She would love to make a friend. We took her on her first Disney cruise when she was 14 months old. She really enjoyed the nursery on board and we loved having the adult only break. It is an extra cost and has to be reserves but is worth it. The character meets are great if your youngest isn't afraid of them. They also have open play time in the clubs where you can go play with her (not drop off)

I could not send the moderator of the FE list a PM because Dis boards says I don't have enough posts to do that? But I am cruising on the Jan 17 Magic to Castaway and would love to participate. It will be myself and my 14 yo son and 12 yo daughter cruising this time (dad doesn't have enough vacation time to go with us :( So could you please add us to the list?

This is our 5th Disney cruise and we don't have our stateroom number yet as it is a guarantee rate. Will let you know as soon as we get it.

Hello jdgilmour.
I see that you got your stateroom number and you're gonna be right next to us. :thumbsup2 Looking forward to some fun nights party:

Worked on FE gifts today, super cold here in Cincinnati. Can't wait for cruise. Our niece and nephew still have no idea they are going. Grandpa and Grandma are just taking them on trip to somewhere. We are all going to surprise them when we meet up with them in the Charlotte airport. Should be exciting.

Welcome! We are coming in from Cleveland. This is the first time my grandkids have gone on a cruise. They are so excited and nervous not knowing what to expect. I am sure they will make friends fast and have a blast. Can't wait.. Looking for some warmer weather!
