January 17th 2014 Disney Magic 3 Night Bahamas Cruise

First time cruising with Disney, used to Royal Caribbean. We booked very late (Dec 31) so our "Boarding time" is 1:30-2. Is that SET? Or if we show up at 10:30 can we get checked in and get in line to board? We know we won't be first since we aren't platinum or gold level people, but will we be able to board before 1:30? This seems LATE! Don't know if we can even hold our little ones from lunch that late! Thanks for any help!

If you show up early, you will board with your boarding group as mentioned above, and it will almost certainly be much earlier than your scheduled time. However, it will probably be a throng at the gate and you will have to wait your turn. (I would rather be waiting in the DCL terminal, than be pretty much anywhere else!)

Here is the important thing to remember if you normally cruise with other lines. Disney allows you to bring whatever adult beverages you want. There are no limits/restrictions as long as you carry it on in a new unopened container. Beer, wine, liquor, cans, bottles, whatever. Don't bring more than you want, because customs limits what you can bring back into the States...

I hope they show The Curse of the Black Pearl on funnel vision after - sort of a family tradition to watch until falling asleep in a deck chair under the stars...
On our last Wonder cruise, they did not show it and I felt hornswaggled.

Can you put bottled water in your checked luggage? Or do you have to carry that on too?

Carry on, I think. However, ship's water is the purest distilled water around and nearly any bottled water won't be superior...

7" so snow so far today and it is still coming down here in Northwest Ohio. Sub-zero temps on the way next for us. Cannot wait for next Wednesday to get here as that is when we step on our plane for much warmer weather!! Cannot wait for this cruise! DW has already started packing.

Looks like the weather for the cruise is going to be a little chilly (hopefully will change) - Mid 60's in the evening and mid 70's during day. With Port Canaveral showing mid 60's on Friday and low of 45.. Not sure about any water activities. Going to be a lot warmer than Ohio though which will be in 20's and teens - Anyway, I am sure we will all have a magical time..

My family totally makes fun of me for being a major pre-planner and always having an itinerary, but that's who I am! Need help now so I can relax on the ship . . .
1. We were planning on snorkeling at the Cay. Do you'll think the water will be warm enough for that? Temps are lower than expected.
2. Are most of you dressing up for dinner even with the cooler weather? My girls are 10 and 13 and I figured they would freeze in cutesy dresses.
3. Do you wear the pirate attire to dinner that night or just to the deck party?
4. Is it worth doing the 5K for the experience of it (and the medal) if I know we will be walking and not running, once again with a 10 and 13 year old.

I was just looking at the weather this morning. I'm bummed it'll be a little chillier ...

Another question for the 5K -- do you just sign up there? So glad you all posted about this, so I can be sure to pack my husband's and daughter's running clothes!

Thanks for the responses! We will plan to do the 5K (as long as they allow us to check our kids into the kids' club before the 5K begins). Bummer that kids under 12 can't register as well.

We will walk/run it.

We did most of our packing this weekend and just need to throw in last minute items before we leave on Thursday to head down to MCO WOOHOO!

I'm thinking it will be a little chillier this time around as well. I packed my DS a pair of casual pants and a polo type shirt (short sleeved) for dinner each night but nothing too fancy. Since DCL relaxed their MDR dress policy several months ago I don't think people will need to worry as much. We still like to look decent but I told my DH no need to worry about wearing dress pants, tie, etc., especially on the 3 night cruise. SO - just wear what you're comfortable with and same for the girls - if they want to wear the dresses then I'd bring a sweater or something to add. I don't remember being extra cold last month on the Dream except in the theater during the shows and I just brought my hoodie with me to keep over me during the show.

For Pirate Night - my DS isn't going all out this cruise either. We're keeping it simple and each wearing a Pirate Tshirt and the bandanas DCL will give us on Pirate Day/Night but we *do* wear them to dinner and leave on for the activities afterwards. You will not feel out of place wearing to dinner - promise
