January 16, 2010-Eagerly awaiting our Eastern Adventure!

Hmmm...not sure if this pic worked. If not, I tried my best - I downloaded to photobucket and posted the html code (hope that was right??)

Anyway - count me (and the kids) in for the meet. Not sure about DH. Must be a guy thing, but he is not really into this stuff either - in fact - one of the big things he disliked about our last cruise (our honeymoon - 8000 years ago;)) was that we had to eat with a group of "strangers".

OK - so for the dismeet it's me (Laura) DD Hannah age 9 and DS Nathan age 5.

Thanks!

Oooohhhh, I'm so excited that our photo showed up. I am truly technologically challenged:rotfl2:. I think I have found a new place to waste a great deal of time...photobucket:rolleyes1 So many possibilites...

So we are closing in on the holidays...Things are really going to pick up speed here. Do you guys Trick or Treat? My kids are getting pumped. DD-11 is trying to decide if she will go out this year. She really wants to wear the pirate costume from last years cruise, but she is aging out of the TOT. Since when does 11 = grown up:sad2: Kari is excited because she got a "new" costume- poor kid lives in a world of hand-me-downs (especially costumes which sis only wore once):confused3

After Halloween it will be full on rush...Thanksgiving, Christmas, cruise...:yay::woohoo::yay:oh yeah somewhere in there we are sqeezing in school and work:eek:

We still haven't told our kiddos about the cruise...hoping for a Christmas AM surprise... I hope they don't get suspicious now that I am on the DISboards so much.

I'm still planning to organize a FE exchange. Please PM me if you are interested in participating- So far we are a very small group. What do you guys think about starting another thread with a link to this one? I'm wondering if fellow cruisers are having difficulty finding us since the folks who got the thread started are no longer cruising with us:confused3
By starting another thread the first page/post could contain all the pertinent information such as ... Roll call, theme, DISmeet time & location, special excursions, or photo times...yadda,yadda,yadda...you get the picture.

Opinions??? I think Jessica (Bunless) should start it so she doesn't have to continue to update the last page--that's a lot of work:worship:

Really not trying to highjack the thread :rotfl2::rotfl2: Just making a suggestion:idea:

While I'm typing I've got another theme suggestion...
Buccaneers with Mouse Ears, or Buccaneers in Mickey Ears,

Halloween...the start of the holiday season and the easy wait until our cruise...I LOVE it!!! :lmao:

This is the 4th time we have done this week and it is always so easy after Halloween. Go thru TOTing...pull those decorations down...start planning Thanksgiving...clean house for company :headache:, have a BIG Thanksgiving (2 really, one at the in-laws too)...clean up THAT mess (usually takes a few days! :rotfl:)...get ready for Christmas :santa: ...which means a LOT of things for the CRUISE....I won't go into the details on Christmas :lmao:

...and then FINALLY less than 2 weeks when it is all said and done for our week rejuvenation!!!! It is BEST time to cruise ever!!! :dance3:

I am also hosting the DCL house party in there...ugh, but its nice to think about the cruise in November!

Anyone else trying to lose weight for the cruise? :scared1: I had surgery this summer and gained almost 30 pounds :scared1::scared1: I am now trying to lose it before the cruise so that my before surgery clothes fit me again!! :rolleyes1 Otherwise, I will have to buy all new clothes :headache:

The countdown begins...3 holidays to go!!

:sad2:I am with you on needing to lose weight. I had DS 16mo ago and dd almost 4mo ago. I still am up almost 25lb. It does not sound like much but for me it is nearly 5 sizes up. I have hardly any clothes. Huge identity crisis for me. I have been real good about the gym until this last week, just too much to do.
Best of luck to you:worship::worship:I am rooting you on

Familyfun - Thank you!! I am hoping for the best but if I am able to lose 20 by cruise time I will be THRILLED!!! WOW - a 4mo...my kids are older but I remember those extra pounds (especially after #2!). Let me know how you are doing and if you need any support, I know every time I think about chocolate, I get on these boards and remind myself that I am going on a CRUISE :lmao:

I am paying my kids to throw their Halloween candy away this year :rotfl: more for MY benefit than theirs!!

Our thread is a bit slow. So I am going to try and pick some things up.:thumbsup2

Where is everyone on a FE?

What are you all looking at doing at the ports?

Are there any boys around 11/12 on here? I was thinking if my sons principal was okay with him going I can get him added?
:confused3

can't wait to hear from you all;)

Hello,

My family and I will be joining you on the Jan. 16 Eastern cruise, which will be our first! Not to mention this is my first post! We are

Laura
DH Bob
DD Zoe (8)
DS Mathew (5)

I have been doing a lot of reading on the boards (extremely helpful), but have crammed most of my planning into today in anticipation of midnight! We'll see how it goes.

:woohoo:

Can't answer about the boys... got a DD-11 who likes to think of herself as a tomboy:laughing: DH and I remain undecided on port excursions.:confused3 We want to go to St. John, but have yet to choose an excursion. I think we will have a beach day on St. Maarten.

I am currently keeping a list of FE participants. We would LOVE :love:for many more staterooms/families to participate. Just PM me with your information, or post it on the thread.:thumbsup2

Another thread has been started for this cruise in hopes that all vital info can be kept on the first few pages. We're hoping they will be linked shortly. See the post by Bunless on 10/28 for a link.

Oh, yeah and we still need a theme, you can see the current suggestions on the first page of the new thread.

A DISmeet and FE exchange are currently being arranged. I hope you will consider participating in either or both. I think they add even more fun to the cruise.

welcome lsebastyn!!

Head on over to the new thread - I was a newbie like you - um - about 2 weeks ago! ;)

our kids are very similar ages so I selfishly hope that you do the dismeet!

Hi there,

My family and I are travelling for the first time on a disney cruise. Can't wait.:cool1: What a great forum. We have a 3 year old and a 5 year old. I think I'm going to end up hooked disney cruises. They sound amazing. Any tips from you experts on when is the best night to book our adult only dinner? I don't want to miss anything major. I hear everything is fabulous so its a tough call I know.

Cheers!
Michelle

Welcome

It seems that Thursday is a highly recommended night because you will have completed your dining rotation, and it is not usually pirate night. Once you get your room key (card) it will have your dining rotation specified on it, so you could try to make it for the second night of Animators Palatte (spell-check?)or Parrot Cay depending upon your rotation. No matter when you go you will have a terrific meal and hopefully not feel as though you are missing anything. On our first cruise our girls were about the same age as your children. DCL made it a true vacation for everyone.:thumbsup2 I think it was the first time we (DH and I) felt true relaxation since the first kid was born. My kids loved the children's programming. Hope your first cruise is as magical as ours was. This is DCL cruise 4 for us- so we are hooked.:)

We now have another thread which is regularly updated for this cruise meet, so I will post that link below... you will find lots of fellow cruisers there.

We are going on the jan. 16th cruise. First time for us. Heard about the dismeet , not sure what exactly it is and where! Would love to meet some girls for my daughter. She is 8 1/2, 3rd grade. Very social. Loves to do just about anything.

Thanks for any and all help!

You can always exchange email addresses so the kids can get to know each other if you find others with kids the same ages. Have a great cruise!!
