January 13, 2007 - 7 Night Magic Western

Welcome Antkim!

This will only be our 2nd cruise, but I don't think you need to book shore excursions. Right now we're tenatively planning on leaving DD at the Oceaneer Club and exploring Key West on our own, and doing the beach on Grand Cayman ourselves. DH really wants to see some ruins in Mexico, so we're probably going to do the ruins/beach excursion (and depending on if Cozumel is up and running by then) there.

I get made fun of for planning so far in advance, but it's fun!

PS. DH went to college in Worcester (Wistah!).

great! So we do not have to book an excursion just to go to the beach? How do you get the the beach then? Cab?

What college did he go to?

Kim

If you search the main Cruise board for Western Excursions, I think there have been posts about just taking a taxi (on Grand Cayman) to the beach, and I don't think it was that expensive. I believe the expense on the beach comes from renting all the "toys".... :sunny:

Hope this helps!

PS. DH went to Holy Cross.

Thanks! My deposit is due today...jst waiting for cuise to open!

Hello all! We will be sailing with you on the 13th. Just returned from our 2nd eastern and thought this time we should try the western. I'm looking forward to a year of getting to know you all.

Well HELLLLLOOOOO fellow cruisers! :wave2: You can count me in! Although the cruise is just on hold as of today, I plan on putting the deposit down on Monday! :cheer2:

So, I started a thread saying that this will be our first cruise. I could walk blind folded through WDW but cruise is all new to me...which I have to say is scaring me a bit! :lmao: I do not want to plan too much as I have a 8 yr old and 3 yr old (boys) so I know we will just have to go with the flow! However, I really just want to understand all that I can about the cruise!

As a "newbie" I am researching, researching ,researching and enjoying every moment! :cheer2:

I have started to read the FAQ thread and have already learned a lot!

I would LOVE any type of advice! Can someone tell me if I have to book a "shore excursion" only to go to the beach???? I am thinking that Grand Caymen and Cozumel may just be beach days with the guys but it seems so expensive to book a shore excursion! There has to be a way to go to the beaches without it costing $150..right?

Oh and....it will be my birthday on the 13th!  I will be 25! :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Kim

Welcome! A cruise is such a great way to celebrate your birthday party: . Make sure you let them know that it is your birthday on the 13th. My DS6 will be turning 7 on 1/18. It will be fun celebrating with him.

Hi, Sandy and welcome to the cruise. I love the Eastern itinerary because of the extra day at sea but had a great time on our Christmas Western in 2003 and it was great weather.

I will be celebrating my birthday on the cruise, tool...............but..... it won't be my 25th!! ;)

After a really balmy winter, we woke up to a snow wonderland this morning and it reminded me that we better give ourselves a couple of days to get down to Florida...............just in case! It is so beautiful with snow covering everything. I let our Lab, Sampson, out this morning and it was so deep it covered his legs. He had a blast as he loves snow.

In DC, they start closing things in advance of storms so American and Delta had already started cancelling flights before the snow started. It can be pretty funny but it wouldn't be if we missed the cruise. So, we will have to struggle through a couple of days at WDW.:teeth:

He must be 26 right? :lmao: I wish I were just turning 25! :rolleyes1 However, at 25 I sure wasn't going on 7 night cruises with a family I adore! Guess 39 won't be so bad! Hmmm..that's gets me thinking....what can I possibly do on my 40th that beats this? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

We should all get together and celebrate the anniversary of our 25th birthday on the cruise! :rotfl2: My birthday will be a couple days after we come back! And, it will be the 14th anniversary of my 25th birthday (how did that happen?)!!

Hi, Everyone

Time for introductions....
We were the crazy nuts at Pamela and Dan's table on their first cruise (that turned out to live just a few miles away) and for some reason our behavior has not repelled them...we just got back from the 4 Feb Magic Eastern and booked this cruise while onboard so we could sail again with our buddies.

We had pretty unimpressive weather, lots of clouds/rainy spells but still managed to get some sunny photos of every location. Castaway Cay day had brilliant sunshine, but the water was C-O-L-D. And the hurricanes must have been bedeviling the island...you could walk out about a hundred yards from the adult beach and still only be in waist-deep water.

This was our first cruise doing door signs...the group of Disboarders we ganged up with on this last cruise were really big into it and I am afraid there's just no stopping us now! We had an epiphany moment :sunny: while making them and decided to use the 12x12 scrapbook sheets that came with our DCL scrapbook kit as the backgrounds for our door signs. This way, after the cruise we can just put them right in the scrapbook as our title pages! We got a little carried away with the stickers, but, what the heck.

We are actually going on another cruise, a 4 day Wonder on April 30. I'd promised the kids the next time we booked a cruise we'd take them again (they've been on one other one before) so we had no choice but to book one in between Magics! So it's beans on toast for a few months. I think after this January cruise we are going to lay low for a year and then take one of the 10/11 day cruises to some different ports. Of course, DCL may have some fabulous new itineraries by then.

Anyhow, it is nice to meet all of you, and we look forward to conversing with you over the next 11 months...and counting down....

Wow, when you put it that way I really feel old! :rotfl2: How on earth can we be celebrating our 14th anniversay of our 25th bday? Holy smokes...time sure does fly. Didn't I just graduate from high school? :teeth:

I am SOOOO looking forward to this cruise! Got my postcard from Mickey today!

Hi guys! Without going back and re reading all the posts, will anyone have boys close to my sons ages...they will be 8 and 3 at the time of the cruise. Maybe we could "hook up" and introduce the boys...that way they may have a "friend" in the club right from the start!

Hi Sandy! PM on the way!

I had a nightmare last night! I dreamt that I missed the ship leaving one of the ports...I thought I had to be back at 5 but I really had to be back by 4!!! :headache:

Hello, I am still "wet behind the ears" you may say, since this will be my second cruise on the Magic Western. First time was a blast, Family had a lot of fun :thumbsup2 . Decided to do again, but taking employees and their families with us this time as a Christmas bonus for them :santa: . DS will be 13 at the time of our cruise and is really excited about the teen club on board. The last cruise he only wanted to be at the pool the whole trip. I just can't seem to wait another 11 months for this one  . It is driving me crazy.

I always dream that I forget our passports or luggage. I mean really, how do you forget your luggage? Seems real when I'm dreaming though :confused3
