Hello all, I know that the week from Christmas until the 31st is the busiest time of the year, but how does New Years Day through the 5th look?

The only time I have never been to Disney is during Christmas and the kids and I really want to see the Christmas decor and shows, but due to work I am unable to take any time off during December.

It depends on when school resumes. Best case scenario is 1/4, so by then it will start dropping off. Up to that point will remain pretty busy I'm afraid.

We've been that time of year twice. Both times we had a couple of days with temps in the 80's, so we went to the water parks. Yep, waterparks in January! In fact if you time it right, you can visit both parks, since Typhoon Lagoon is open Jan 1-2, and Blizzard Beach reopens Jan 3.

FWIW, we always do 5 days, and see all four parks. 2 days for MK (with an afternoon break for water parks), 1 EP, 1 DHS, 1 AK. AK the first day (since that's the morning we fly in, and rope drop isn't as critical).

It will be busy until the 4th (Monday), when lots of people will be back at school/work. 1st through 2nd mega-busy, 3rd tapering down. If you can go the week of the 4th, that will be pretty low crowds (we went that week in 2014).

Just be aware that the RunDisney weekend is from January 6th - 10th, so a lot of people may be trying to take a vacation before they run 23.1 miles!

That usually doesn't affect theme park crowds at all. It just makes driving a bit more difficult during the races (early morning Saturday and Sunday).

Well I guess I should've mentioned that the parks are still okay to go to.. but I have been there during this weekend more than once, and you definitely see a lot of people in the parks that walk around with their medals on their neck.

And as always... easywdw.com is your friend. (as is ridemax.com IMHO)
