I love her books too! Who do you think should be in the movie? I'm sure there will be one. I think Sandra Bullock should play Stephanie. How about the rest of the cast?

I think we Morelli fans are in the minority. All of my friends love Ranger. Granted, he does sound hot, but I've had enough Rangers in my own life! But I do love the whole triangle thing (keeps it interesting).

Could you picture Stephanie's grandmother in the Haunted Mansion?!!! All those caskets....

I really like Morelli. I think he is beyond a prince for putting up with all of Stephanie's antics! Part of what makes Ranger attractive is his unattainability. For lasting love though I would have to go with Morelli.

I first read this as 'For tasting love...' I was like, that sounds like fun.

Grandma and the caskets would be hilarious. And they could all share 1 room at POP, so it would feel like home!

I think in my younger days I'd have totally been all over a Ranger, but I've got a soft spot for Morelli now.

TriStar has bought the rights for a movie of the first book, but so far nothing's come of it.

Last we heard, nothing. They've been working on a script for several years now. Reese Witherspoon is attached to the project to play Stephanie. No other casting has been done. If anything exciting ever happens we'll be sure to post it on the site right away

Janet saw Miss Congeniality and loved Sandra Bullock. Thought she would make a great Stephanie. She also would like John Travolta to be in the movie. Not necessarily because he's right for a specific part, but she would really like to dance with him at the premiere party.

I like Sandra Bullock too, but I also can see Debi Mazar, if you know who she is. She has that accent and attitude and is beautiful. I listen to one of the books on tape (forget which one) and she was the narrator and did a wonderful job.

They better hurry up though because these folks won't be the right age much longer and they are even now kind of pushing it. I'm a big fan of Ranger. Morelli is good for Steph but he wants to hold her back. To truly settle down with Morelli she'd have to give up her job and start making good Italian babies and maybe even learn to cook.

Good point. The way I see it is, Morelli is the bad boy turned good, which let's face it, is what we usually try to do if we can snag a bad boy anyway. Now he's trying to do the same to her, and I think it's only a matter of time before they find a good middle ground. Ranger on the other hand... that bad boy will never be reformed. Not good for long term but very entertaining!

Good choices! Hadn't thought of Vin Diesel but you are right, that would be a good choice. I am thinking Keanu Reeves for Morelli. He and Sandra have a good chemistry together. No way could I see Reese Witherspoon for Stephanie. No way.

Vin Diesel as Ranger...very nice! I thought of Estelle Getty for Grandma, but sadly I believe she is no longer working. Perhaps Cloris Leachman?

Reese Witherspoon is just ridiculous in this role. I'm sure they'll try to do the whole Cher from Legally Blonde thing. But that's not Stephanie. They need somebody with a North Jersey/New York edge to her. Somebody who can be sexy but is also tough and not stupid. Even for the first book Reese is too young too, plus she's too blonde.

Cloris Leachmen would work. She was great as the grandmother in Malcolm in the Middle. Very Grandma like. I just think Vin Diesel's dark looks and deep voice are perfect for the mysterious Ranger. I could see him sneaking up on Steph.

Reese Witherspoon was great in Walk the Line, but that was playing a southern girl. I agree that the person who plays Stephanie has to have an edge. She just doesn't have that. I LOVE Vin Diesel as Ranger, the more I think about it, the more I like it! Queen Latifah is perfect for Lula, she has the comic timing to pull off some of those scenes. Those books are the only ones I have ever laughed out loud while reading.

Maurice Bernard from General Hospital is a hot Italian actor, but I don't know if he is more Ranger or Morelli

I totally agree with Queen Latifah for Lula. Can't think of anyone else.
Sandra Bullock? Yeah, she'd be OK, but I like Nia Vardalos (My Big Fat Greek Wedding) or Marisa Tomei.
For Morelli, there's a soap actor, Thorsten Kay, who I could really see in that role. He's older than the target range for the character, but he's definitely a Morelli. Ranger? Man, I'm stumped. I'm not a big Vin Diesel fan, though.
For some reason, I really see Joe Pesci as Vinnie - even though he's not the right fit physically, and he's older than the character.

What about Steve Buscemi for Vinnie? He's got the greasy, skinny look that could work.

Sandra Bullock would also be a much better pick for Stephanie. She's got that zany, accident-prone, sassy attitude much more than Reese Witherspoon who's just a little too perfect.
