I'm floating the idea of taking a 5-6 day trip Jan. 8-13 (date not set in stone) in 2024. We've only gone in mid May or first week of June. Last time we went was May 2022. Thoughts?

That should be a good week. Kids should be back in school, and Marathon Weekend will be over. At the end of that week, however, guests will be arriving for Martin Luther King holiday on Monday the 15th. We love January but usually try to arrive no sooner than the Wednesday after MLK Day. There are always crowds, but between MLK Day and mid-February they seem to be on the smaller side.
As far as weather, it’s unpredictable in terms of cold or warm but definitely won’t be nearly as hot and humid as the summertime. We pack layers!

I agree PP comments on crowds, you will have some increase around MLK and while I fully expect the next 12 months to slump in overall demand based on what we're hearing with discounts and reports, the parks will still be crowded. My only hesitation with January is it can be awesome, nice cool days with low humidity or absolutely freezing cold and damp. You really won't know until you're closer to the dates but most average temps are between 50 and 74 that time of year. It's a gamble. We have done January only once and since then the timing has never worked but we lucked out that it was nice weather, when the weekend prior was a high of 45 degrees. Layers are your friend in January.

January is our go-to time of year to visit; lower crowds, and we escape our brutal Canadian winter! While weather-wise, it can be a gamble, we have always lucked out and had decent weather every time. It's usually a cheaper time to visit as well; we've got great deals on flights that time of year.
