Good day to all,
We have a Jan trip lined up with my parents and sister's family, who are vegetarians. Here are the restaurants I have selected (based in part on parks we will be at, or the resorts, and taking into account a 5 year old and 8 month old). Would love to get input from fellow Disneyites if there are some restaurants that I "should" include (or exclude).
Oh, btw, I eat everything, so did not pay a lot of attention to the Veggie options when I was there. Hence this request to get feedback from Disney Veterans.
Day 1 - Reach AKL, Kidani. Lunch at Mara, Trip to MK, Dinner at Friar Nook's
Day 2 - HS. Lunch - ABC Commissary. Trip to Epcot. Dinner - Tangierene Cafe
Day 3 - AK. Lunch - Yak 'N Yeti. Dinner Sanaa
Day 4 - B'fast Boma. Epcot - Lunch Via Napoli. Dinner at Norway Quick Snack
Day 5 - Trip to GF. Lunch - Grand Floridian Cafe. Dinner - BOG
Day 6 - Lunch - Sunshine Seasons. Dinner - Studio Catering Co
Day 7 - MK. B'fast - Crystal Palace. Lunch - Columbia Harbor. Dinner - Cosmic Ray's
Day 8 - AK. Lunch - Harambe. Trip to Epcot. Dinner - Mexican Pavilion at Epcot
Day 9 - SIGH.... All good things come to an end

I am not a vegetarian, but have traveled with my sister a few times who is. Out of your list, she has eaten at: Boma (for dinner - loved it, btw); Via Napoli; BoG (dinner); CP (dinner)
She really hasn't had a problem anywhere we've eaten around WDW finding something that she can eat and enjoy. At one point there was a vegetarian/vegan thread floating around the boards with recommendations and opinions. They could always look up the menu to make sure there's a good option for them at each place you've chosen

Yeah. I have had this trip planned for a while and had seen the Veg thread a few months ago, but cannot find it. Some of the choices I have are from memories of what was suggested then, but I am trying to get a final sanity check.

I think that looks like a good lineup. The only one that may be problematic is Harambe Market. I don't think they have any vegetarian offerings.

3 things:

(1) Friar's Nook has never been open when I have been at WDW - multiple trips. And I have looked for it. Might I suggest Pinocchio's? They get good reviews for their flatbreads. OR book an ADR at Liberty Tree Tavern. Their new veg sandwich was pretty flawless.

(2) I would swap the Norway snack for something at Les Halles in France. Everything I had there was amazing.

(3) Haven't seen any vegetarian offerings at Harambe.

You covered a lot of my favorites: CHH, Tangierine, etc.. If you have room, a Boma dinner would be awesome.

Excellent point. I was looking at the Fruits/Snacks as a light lunch, but maybe I should have a shorter than planned AK day and lunch at Epcot. Food for thought :)

Friar's was open this past trip of ours and MAN was it good. If it is closed this trip, will certainly take your suggestion on Pinocchio's.
I was looking at Les Halles, but not sure how much of a Veg offering they have. Will look at their menu again, so thanks for the input.

Uggh. I have always wanted to try Friar's! Lucky!

At Les Halles, the first thing I had was a goat cheese tartine? It was like a GOOD slice of bread with some sort of tomato sauce, melted cheese and then a disk of goat cheese in the middle. It was like jacked up pizza bread, and it was unexpected, but good. On another day, I had the pissaladiere, which was more bread than anything else, a little tomato, cheese and olive. Compared to the tartine, it was just ok. My daughter had the quiche lorraine, which I had a bite of. Tried to avoid the ham. It was SO good. It was light years away from the dry tasteless little quiche I had at BOG. I wished then that I had gotten the florentine quiche.

In Mexico, are you doing TS or CS?

BTW - Sanaa is amazing!

Oh - one more thing you might look for - we tried the nudel gratin in Germany. It was REALLY good. It is probably just mac and cheese, but it was GOOD mac and cheese. We also had the paprika chips. They were just ok. They needed more salt or a dipping sauce.

Harambe Market no longer offers a vegetarian option but Mr. Kamal's has several choices that are easy to carry over to Africa.

Thank you for posting this, TinkFan. I saw the Mr. Kamal's menu posted on allears and thought it looked wonderful. I wanted to compare the allears menu with the one on the WDW website, but unless I just missed it, Mr. Kamal's isn't even listed there.

I hope it is still there, does anybody know for sure?

I asked the same thing about kamals recently and was assured it's still there. There is also an interesting vegetarian option at the QS counter of yak and yeti.

I'm disappointed that the new market doesn't have a vegetarian option. Fruit is ok as a snack, not as a lunch.

Our family are all vegetarians and we travel to WDW several times a year, we always find great food to eat there wherever we go! Here our some of our favorites (and it is skewed towards character meals for table service, because we have 2 three year olds, and also we just love character meals :) ).

For quick service at Magic Kingdom, our favorite is Be Our Guest, but Pecos Bill's has a good black bean burger and Columbia Harbour House has good vegetarian chili. Cosmic Ray's also has a veggie burger that ok, but we prefer the black bean one at Pecos Bill's. For table service we have had Cinderella's Royal Table which was great and Crystal Palace which is a buffet and has a lot of options. 1900 Park Fare and Chef Mickey's are both close by and are both great with lots of vegetarian options!

At Animal Kingdom for quick service Restaurantosaurus also has a black bean burger, but the best is the falafel or samosas at Mr. Kamal's in Asia. For table service, Tusker House is really good for vegetarians and probably our favorite restaurant in WDW all together (but my husband is South African, so the South African influence on the menu probably skews our opinion ). We really love breakfast/brunch there. Jiko at Animal Kingdom Lodge is great too, and Boma and Sanaa there as well have lots of vegetarian options too! The vegetarians in your group will probably eat best on your Animal Kingdom area days :).

At Hollywood Studios for quick service we usually end up at Studio Catering Co just because that's the location we are usually at at lunch time, lol, but they have a nice grilled vegetable sandwich. Pizza Planet has a vegetable pizza (and delicious cupcakes!). For table service we love Hollywood & Vine at breakfast/lunch for the characters, but the dinner buffet should have plenty of vegetarian options as well. Mama Melrose's has some great vegetarian options too.

At Epcot- well it's the land of food, so your options are pretty endless here . For quick service, we love Sunshine Season's, but the naan at Electric Umbrella is really good too. In the world showcase, try Tangierine Cafe for the falafel, La Cantina de San Angel for the empanadas or Liberty Inn for a fake chicken sandwich. For table service, we've only done Akershus for breakfast and it was fine, there was plenty to eat, but the main draw is the princesses. For dinner, they do have a vegetarian option, but I haven't tried it. San Angel Inn has a separate vegetarian menu that we plan to check out on our next trip, but haven't tried it yet.

Hope that helps some!!!

I am also a vegetarian in a family of carnivores, so I have read through pretty much all the menus (NERD ALERT!). I think your list looks good. The only one that jumped off your list to me as a possible issue was Friar Nook's. The only option was the plain mac n cheese.

We tried to pick places that had a couple vegetarian options per place so I would have some variety although I will say that was harder in MK than in any other park. On our MK day we are going to try for BOG for dinner otherwise we will be heading out of the park to Kona or Contempo as those had the best near by options.

Oh also should have mentioned that the Resturant Marrakesh (both QS and TS) has an amazing menu and really good reviews across the board. It was suggested to me by many people.

Was just at Animal Kingdom today and Harambe Market now offers a vegetarian option. I don't remember exactly what it was something like a vegetable stack with pesto something? Also had lunch at Yak & Yeti Local Food Cafe and the vegetable couscous wrap was really good!

Good news! Thanks for sharing!

Decent list of restaurants!

Columbia Harbour House has good vegetarian chili

They also have the Lighthouse sandwich, which is a slaw with hummus sandwich. Very good.

Having the description of who has the black bean burgers is good; sometimes you're in the mood for a veggie burger, but that doesn't translate to wanting a *black bean* burger. I wish Disney would make the difference obvious!

Past perusals of ingredient lists tells me to warn vegetarians and vegans to read current ingredient lists for cupcakes. They haven't all been "safe" in the past. Things might have changed. Make sure.

The only place I have been to with a vegetarian was The Wave but they said it was the best place the dined on property. I don't know what the vegie options are at Grand Floridian Cafe but if they don't have much in options The Wave has been willing to go off menu as well as has very fresh ingredients.
