I'm thinking of taking my DS to Disney for a couple of days. How is the weather in Jan. I want it to be warm enough to swim. I am guessing that the crowds won't be too bad at this time. Or should I wait until March.

Thanks for the help

Hi,

One certainty about the weather in January is that it is completely unpredictable. You could have days near 80 with cool mornings or you could have mornings near freezing with afternoon highs in the 40s. You could also have both of those things happen within a few days of each other.

You might be able to swim, but you certainly can't count on it.

Crowds will be lighter in January than in March (as long as you avoid New Years) but the weather will be much warmer in March.

You can't count on swim weather in January. The weather can be all over the place. I would wait for March since swimming is important to you.

Anyone know about the crowds? We're going towards the end of January, after the marathon and after MLK weekend. Should we expect low crowds?

Yes, you should!

Crowds are very light from just after New Year's until approx. the Thursday before President's day. Weekends tend to be a little heavier, esp. in the MK. During the week, you can probably walk onto most attractions and the waits for the more popular ones are generally not more than 15 minutes.

We were there last Jan 9th-15th. I expected cold weather, so carried only two pair of shorts. Those two pair of shorts got washed every other day. It was hot up until the night before we were to leave when it rained and turned cold. We had to leave DTD to go back to the room to pick up some pants and jackets. I understand the next week was really cold. Crowds were wonderfully low however. My GD swam, by the way and said the pool was wonderful.

I'm taking my GD back Jan 2nd-8th and can't wait! I'm also taking my 73 y/o mom Dec 9th-18th and have already told her to pack a few of everything (shorts, capris, pants, t-shirts, sweats, fleece, coat, gloves, scarf, and toboggan. I'm packing lighter and plan on washing clothes while I'm down there.
