Jan. 29, 2012 Dream cruise

Hi all!!

Just called to find out what movies would be playing during our sailing. The CM said that Beauty and the Beast 3D would be playing on all ships from Jan 13-29 only. Ack! I need to make it to the Buena Vista Theater on embarkation day!!! It sounded like they would only play the movie on the 29th...from the way the CM said it.....I hope she really meant for all sailings Jan 13-29th....guess we will see. Other movies she listed were:

The Help
War Horse
Reel Steel
Cars 2 3D
POTC 4 3D
The Muppets

Are we going to have a meet up post-muster drill on embarkation day? We've also got a roll call over on the Cruise Critic boards with a few folks there too.

It was suggested that the meet up be held in the evening as post drill can be kind of hectic. I suggested an adult meet at skyline after second seating dinner.

I cant beleive they wouldn't be showing Beauty and the beast.

The CM said it would be showing from Jan 13-29th.....so I take that to mean it will be showing on embarkation day....I know it is a limited engagement at the theaters....so I am guessing they are doing the same thing on the ships. Hoping it will be showing on other days also...but I do not know.

Hello All,

Just joined, thought I would say HI. I'm flying out on Friday and on my First Disney Cruise on the Dream with you all on Sunday :)

I have cruised a lot before, solely with Royal Caribbean, but wanted to experience the Disney side.

Booked it quite late on and nabbed a good price on a Verandah GTY. Looks like I now have a cabin, which appears great and more than I had hoped.

Any tips for me?

Paul

I bought B&B 3D on DVD before Christmas. It would have been much more exciting watching it on a Disney Cruise than in my bedroom though!

I want to see War Horse and I'm willing to bet my son would love to see Reel Steel. I'm excited to see most of those movies (if we make it to the theater) but agree Beauty and the Beast would have been great!

Ok so I know less then a week, but is it bad that my mind is constantly thinking of this cruise?? Lol:rotfl: I have googled every question I could possibly think of too!

So I am now in a position of trying to decide on main versus late dining. Originally I wanted early dining but it was full. I was wait-listed for main. Noticed today I have main dining. I was searching the boards to help with the decision and read opinions about each but now I'm even more confused than I was at the beginning. :confused3

Something I stumbled across was assigned show times. I don't show one on my reservation online where I read on the boards it would be. I'm wondering if it was something they started doing but then maybe stopped. Am I missing something here? Someone please help me out.

That's what I was thinking from previous experience on other cruise lines. The posts that confused me were discussing three shows on the Dream and having assigned dining and show times. Early dining had the options of 5pm or 9pm. With late dining having either 5pm or 7pm as their choices.

My dining reservations for the character meals are all late because I knew on the cruise we'd be eating late.. Now that's changed and I'm not sure if I should leave it or change it.

I bet your kids really love growing up in the House of Mouse! :thumbsup2 I work in a call center and always love speaking to people with the 407 area code. Makes me think of Disney ads every time.
The 3 shows at night are no longer, they are only doing 2 shows a night opposite your dinner time. The 3 shows only lasted a month or so right after the Dream started sailing.

We've had late seating all but 1 time and love late seating - started when DD was 5. With early seating we felt so rushed to get ready for dinner at 5:45 each night. If we get hungry around 5 or so there's always food somewhere to tide us over to dinner.

I checked Nassau's weather for next week and I certainly hope it changes before we set sail. It was showing thunderstorms Sun. - Wed. :scared1: . The good thing was the temps were the high 70's.

so has it been decided there will be a meet up at skyline after late seating on the first night? I plan to "tour" the lounges that night with the DW while the DS is in the kids club and our DD is in nursery :)

I should be easy to spot in the terminal/walking around the boat....just like my username I will be wearing a blue t-shirt that says "IM ON A BOAT!" hahaha

cant wait everyone...im gonna just say its 5 days at this point since its close to midnight :)

:banana::banana::banana::banana:

I'll give you the 5 days at this point. We're under 1 week and that's a big :woohoo: . Can't wait to see palm trees when I look outside, tired of seeing snow and rain.

hi and welcome.

i don't have any tips since it's my first time cruising but why not join us for a cocktail or two at skyline- or the champagne tasting on Nassau day.

I've already been bracing myself that we might miss CC since Jan seem to be the month that has the worst luck.

So being a newbie here on our first cruise what do we do if it rains? Other than cry lol. If we have shore excursions booked and they can't dock or it is raining are we still charged? Are there any pools indoors or are they all outdoors? I know there is still lots to do on the ship but just curious about the bad weather. I am REALLY hoping it changes over the next few days! We are heading to Disney after the cruise and it's showing rain then too  Thinking warm sunny thoughts!!! :cool1:

You do get reimbursed if your tour is cancelled for any reason. When at sea the captain tries to steer clear of the rain clouds...and when it does rain it is usually short lived. It's never rained for a whole day on any of my previous cruises. It might be overcast....but the rain usually does not last very long. Different story when we are docked, but again...the rain has never really ruined any of my cruises. All pools are outdoors on the Disney ships.

It is a gorgeous 84 degrees and sunny here today, but the weather for Sunday keeps going downhill....looks like around 70 degrees, but with Florida weather you just never know!

Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay is what I am looking forward to the most!

I was on the Magic in 2010 when it got "stuck" on Castaway Cay! It was so crazy! The wind started blowing really hard as we got back on the Magic for sailaway and the captain could not get the ship out of the cove. We were pulled in bow first and the back thrusters were churning up the sea....and we kept getting too close to the rocks. We put our luggage out at midnight.....and heard the hangers banging in the closet all night. We thought for sure we had left Castaway Cay and were on our way to Port Canaveral....but when we woke up the next morning our luggage was back out by our door....we were still docked!! We finally left that morning, but we had an extra day on the ship! I had to call home and tell my husband we were stuck on Castaway Cay.....his reply was "How convienent!" I enjoyed the day as I live locally and did not have to worry about flight arrangements, but lines to use the phones to call home or the airlines were about 2 hours long....crazy debarkation at a different pier at Port Canaveral....and stressed out servers who would not be getting a break while at the port...as the new passengers were more than eager to board and sail away. I will always remember that cruise!!
