Jan. 29, 2012 Dream cruise

You do get reimbursed if your tour is cancelled for any reason. When at sea the captain tries to steer clear of the rain clouds...and when it does rain it is usually short lived. It's never rained for a whole day on any of my previous cruises. It might be overcast....but the rain usually does not last very long. Different story when we are docked, but again...the rain has never really ruined any of my cruises. All pools are outdoors on the Disney ships.

It is a gorgeous 84 degrees and sunny here today, but the weather for Sunday keeps going downhill....looks like around 70 degrees, but with Florida weather you just never know!

Serenity Bay at Castaway Cay is what I am looking forward to the most!

I was on the Magic in 2010 when it got "stuck" on Castaway Cay! It was so crazy! The wind started blowing really hard as we got back on the Magic for sailaway and the captain could not get the ship out of the cove. We were pulled in bow first and the back thrusters were churning up the sea....and we kept getting too close to the rocks. We put our luggage out at midnight.....and heard the hangers banging in the closet all night. We thought for sure we had left Castaway Cay and were on our way to Port Canaveral....but when we woke up the next morning our luggage was back out by our door....we were still docked!! We finally left that morning, but we had an extra day on the ship! I had to call home and tell my husband we were stuck on Castaway Cay.....his reply was "How convienent!" I enjoyed the day as I live locally and did not have to worry about flight arrangements, but lines to use the phones to call home or the airlines were about 2 hours long....crazy debarkation at a different pier at Port Canaveral....and stressed out servers who would not be getting a break while at the port...as the new passengers were more than eager to board and sail away. I will always remember that cruise!!

Thank you Caribear! That is very reassuring! We are considering cancelling our excursions in case it is rainy or cold. Not sure what to do.

The extra day on the boat would be awesome! Except that we are booked at Disney but I suppose Disney on the sea or on land is equally magical!

Looking forward to a fun vacation - whatever the weather brings :)

I checked Nassau's weather for next week and I certainly hope it changes before we set sail. It was showing thunderstorms Sun. - Wed. :scared1: . The good thing was the temps were the high 70's.
I've been watching that weather for a week! Started off one, day, then it was clear, then it was rain, now thunder again. Although having looked it all say, light rain, scattered showers, isolated thunderstorms.
I've got my fingers crossed though...

Paul

whatever the weather brings i know one thing...we are all going to have a great time...the DW and i booked two weeks ago and are beyond excited, i cant imagine what its like for those of you who have been booked for months/year

I whole heartedly agree with this statement. I can't imagine how much anticipation would have been involved booking so far out. I booked on the 3rd and can hardly stand the anticipation already. Although I was pricing and going around and around between my work and my husbands before I actually paid on the 3rd for about a week.

I was originally looking at both May and Dec 2013 sailings and will probably still do the same when we are on board. Prob go with Dec for after graduation rather than May trying to squeeze in a Mothers Day trip between terms.

My FE came in yesterday. The kids are already arguing over whose door can have it at home. My daughter won out last night and when I woke up this morning she had little toys in all of the pockets except the one with her name on it! :confused3

All my FE presents are done. I just need to get them sorted and labeled. And then place them in my luggage. :dance3:

I was thinking the exact same thing! We booked at the beginning of the month and I can hardly stand the wait lol. It's going to be a great time! Now to get back to making that fish extender. Wish me luck!:rotfl2:

My family and I went on Oasis of the Seas last November...and we had booked over 2 years out!! Boy, was that a long wait!!

Whatever happens weather wise...we will be on the Disney Dream...so I can't see anything less than a great 4 days of cruisin'!!

Just noticed in your signature thingy at the bottom it says 1/29/11... Did you sail last year on the same date (or was it a typo)?

Ack!! It is a typo!!! I am still in the year 2011!! I was on the Navigator in Feb 2011 with my mom and sister, but not the Dream. I am sailing with a friend who just went on a 4-night Dream sailing in November and had a great time. Her only complaint was the dining room service. She said it was nothing like the exceptional service we had on the Magic and Wonder.

I was ready to ask if it was some sort of special occasion time for you since it was the same ship two years in a row on the same date. :rotfl:

Hopefully things will have improved a bit since your friend's sailing. :)

I didn't start packing either. Lol. Starting tomorrow, laundry, ironing packing.

I fly out tomorrow (technically as it's 1:30am here). Can't wait - I guess I should start to think about packing.....

What is that I word??! :rotfl:

I thought I was doing good buying those little travel size detergent packets and you guys are ironing? :rotfl2: I already feel a bit overwhelmed.

I'll start packing tomorrow since I'm off work  Can't wait to start the drive on Saturday (guess I better clean my car and wash it too).

Well you can't have an iron in your stateroom. So me and my OCD decided it would be a good idea to pre iron. Lol. N:laundy:

I am just focusing on cleaning the house....... so it looks halfway decent when my MIL comes to help out DH with the kids while I am gone! Never realized how much junk I have! Also putting together a "book of instructions" for DH while I am gone!! You would think I am going away for a month.....but if I do not leave instructions there is no telling what I would come home to find :rotfl2:
