Jan. 29, 2012 Dream cruise

We found out that we will have Clayton for the CD this cruise.

I read nice things about him. Do the rotate the cruise directors from ship to ship.

We just had Clayton on the Wonder in August, he's a fun guy and has been with DCL since the beginning or almost the beginning. They will rotate between a couple of ships depending on contracts/vacations.

He's the only one I've been able to find out that we've cruised with before. A couple of people that were supposed to be working on this sailing will be going to Germany around that time. Good for them....bad for us since we were looking forward to seeing them onboard. It's always nice to be onboard and know people.

We are hoping our 14yr old son will have enough other kids around his age. He is now old enough to go to Vibe (last year he tried his best to sneak in) but read on the "Official" Disney website "Disney Cruise Line is currently putting the finishing touches on Vibe......". Not sure if this is something we should be concerned with.

We booked this trip at the last minute because he will be between final exams and the start of a new term at school, but not sure too many others around his age will be joining us on this trip. He is very social and still texts a girl from last year.

Any thoughts?

Hello all!

Not sure if it's too late to get in on the f/e but I would love to. This will be our first cruise and we can't wait! The only issue is we are GTY so don't know our stateroom number. What can we do about that?

Stead Family:

Rod - 40
Sharon - 39
Tyler - 8

Looking forward to a great cruise!

Sharon

I see you are Canadian. I grew up in Toronto- and our friends that are coming with us are from Nobleton.

I just noticed you don't have your number yet, somehow |I missed that in my original reply. Hopefully you get it before the cruise. If not, maybe when you drop your gifts off, leave a note with your stateroom number-then we can deliver yours. Or maybe guest services can help us on board since we have your last name.

Wonder why the website says that about Vibe?!? :confused3 The Dream has been sailing for almost 1 year so Vibe is definately finished. When we sailed in April DD didn't really go, but then she was too busy finding our CM friends on board and talking with them.
The best advise for him is to go to the first night when they plan out their activities for the cruise.

eta: Here's the link to Vibe info on DCL's website: http://disneycruise.disney.go.com/ships-activities/ships/dream/youth-clubs/vibe/

Hi there Cajuns!

Looking forward to meeting you all.

We will be traveling with two teen boys 14 & 15 years old. English is their second language so a very social young friend that speaks English would be a great practice for them! Most children are in school this time of year so I was concerned about them meeting guys their own age. (They are on Summer break).

See you soon....

Yes I was thinking that's what we'd do. We will leave our room number on our gifts so you know where we are.

Thanks again :0)

Hi all!!

We just got our VGT assignments today! This is becoming REAL!!! We'll be on deck 8 starboard mid/aft -- in connecting staterooms!!

I think we were VERY lucky to get connecting with the kiddos in different cabins, though thankfully we will be able to also CLOSE the door so my DH doesn't have to put up with my mom's snoring!! :rotfl:

Although I'd love to join the FE group, I know there is absolutely no chance of getting anything done is less than two weeks -- considering my students have their mid year exams this week!! :scared1: But I hope you all have fun and I hope to meet some of you on board.....SOON!!!!!

I just read the FE thread in the forum and wanted to know if anybody is against candy for the kids. I don't plan on filling your pockets with tons of candy but I bought one piece of Austrian sweets (which I saw once at a store in NY at a ridicoulus price, and as a product placement in "Friends") for every child, all the other stuff is not candy, but if there's anybody who doesn't want the candy, please say so :).

Guest Services will not give out cabin numbers for security reasons.
For the one cruise that we did an FE, the person in charge delivered a final list of all cabins just before dinner the first night. If anyone had a change of cabin or late cabin assignment we were to leave a note on their door and they would change the final list before they delivered it. This made things very easy for everyone, especially if anyone is looking to upgrade at the port. So this might be something you will want to consider for this group.

My kids LOVE candy and on vacation they get to have a little more than normal. I think it's going to be great to get to experience something from another country.
