Jan 27, 2008 - 4 night Wonder...shall I start?

When is our 75 day mark? Nov 13th or the 14th? The counting of days confuses me!!

I just looked at my receipt and it says final payment due Nov 13.

I think that makes Nov 13 the 75 day mark:confused3

I wondered about this, transit to Atlantis thing...finding a cheaper way to get there and just wander a bit sounds more like us, IMO. That way we can go back into town. I definately want local flavor.

Are there much fewer people on the ship when it's in Nassau? This brings up another option - ship exploration during a less busy time.

There is too much to do. We'll just have to cruise more.

Oh - can you bring food/beverages onto the ship? Specifically I am a huge huge huge water drinker, and can't imagine paying a lot of money for something I can buy at Walmart for under a buck!

I FEEL like a four year old about this, so it all makes sense!! I think sometimes half the fun is the anticipation!

If you take the organized excursions, taking the water taxi to Atlantis is kind of neat on the way there. They put you on this nice boat and tell you about various landmarks on the way. One of the drawbacks is that you get dropped quite a distance from Atlantis and have to walk the rest of the way there. There is also a bit of a walk from the ship to where the boat docks. Depending on if you have walking disabilities or not this could be a problem.

BUT on the way back you are usually on your own to catch the water taxi back to the ship. So you walk by yourself back to the dock and get on the boat. Now on the way back the boat they sent wasn't so nice and they packed soooo many people on it that it was scary.

If you take the land taxi you grab one right off the ship and it drops you right at the door of Atlantis. Much easier. The going rate all the times we have taken a taxi was $4.00 a person. Make sure you as the driver BEFORE you get into his taxi. So for 4 people I would always give the driver 20 dollars US. 4 person and a 4 dollar tip. One year the driver was so pleased he gave us his card and said to have the porters call him when we wanted to go back to the ship. We did that and he was there in literally minutes to get us;)

Yes you will find the ship to be much emptier on Nassau day.

You can bring food onto the ship but not anything that is home cooked or requires refrigeration. I've seen people bringing bags of snack foods etc but I've always wondered why when there is so much food available at all times on the ship. But maybe they didn't realize that or wanted certain things.

I've heard conflicting things about bringing beverages onboard, so I'm not sure about that. I've heard some say they put cases of water with their cabin numbermon it into the "checked" luggage area and had it delivered to their room. :confused3

I know the feeling. I've been on a lot of cruises but I still get excited about each and every one of them :dance3:

Welcome to all the new cruisers who have joined our ranks, I am going to have to make a cruiser list to keep everyone straight!

We are also going to take in Atlantis with a Comfort Suite room and take a taxi there and back. Did some checking on it and think that is the way to go, also asked our Mouse Ears Vacation agent and she said that a few of her clients have also done this and had good reports about how things went. But she said that she couldn't book that for us we have to do that ourselves.

Melissa, I was wondering the same thing about bringing water and bevies on-board, so I did some forum searching and found that a number of people have picked up cases of water on the way to the ship and brought an extra bag to pack them in. They tagged it as luggage put some beach towels in it for protection and it arrived at their rooms safe and sound with the rest of their luggage. Some have also brought sodas that way also. They then used the extra bag for items they bought on vacation. We also have packed a soft sided cooler and it was a great thing to have.

We are getting a rental car for the trip to and from the port so we are going to stop off at Walmart or some place like it and stock up on these items and give it a try this time.

I brought romance at sea package so I could make my ressie for our Jan 27 cruise. I confirmed Palo on Jan 28 at 7pm, (Our 30th anniversary) I confirmed a Castaway Cay cabana massage for the wife at 2:30, I confirmed a brunch at 10:30 on Jan 30 and a Exotic Rasul at 2:30. We also have a CS room reserved to have Atlantis access on Jan 28, out anniversary. We will have our breakfast in bed on Jan 28 and our romantic turndown on Jan 28. Does this sound like too much?

Welcome aboard MickeyMirth! :sail:

I'm jealous! Your bookings sound wonderful!!!! I hope to be able to secure Palo dinner ressies for the 28th and brunch ressies also. Don't know how successful I will be considering we are first time cruisers and I have to wait until 75 days out, but one can hope right?! Is the 30th the only day for brunch? I thought the at sea day was the only day brunch was served, but I was looking at a recent navigator from a 4-day (I can't remember the sailing date) and it showed brunch available on Nassau day. Was there more than one date available for brunch ressies when you were booking?

As is everyone else I'm very excited about this cruise, :hyper: and happy to see this thread getting some action!

Unless things have change there is only brunch at Palo on the sea day.

I happen to have the perfect suitcase for this very thing! Thank you for the info - this is big for me!

Maybe we could take the water taxi to Atlantis and then the cab into Nassau...so we spend some money, it's VACATION!

GEB@okw - doesn't sound like too much to me at ALL! I should introduce you to my husband....

I just viewed a navigator from the 10/14/07 4-day on the castaway club website, and it listed Palo brunch on both the Nassau day and the day at sea! It looks like they may have recently added a second day they serve Palo brunch. I sure hope so, that would certainly increase my chances of getting a ressie!

Hey that's cool :thumbsup2

So what day are you going to try and get a reservation for?

I can let you know for sure if there are both days available next week.

I can make my reservations next Monday.

Either day will work for me. I have a feeling the Nassau day will be easier to get, so we will probably end up with that if we are able to get anything at all. I will be happy to just get a ressie, so I don't really care which day.

I look forward to hearing from you after you are able to book. I hope it is a recent change and not just something that was specific to the 10/14/07 sailing.

Yes, I agree that Nassau day will probably be the easier day to get into Palo.

Most people will want to do brunch on the sea day.

OK thanks, you know I am married to a grandma now...

Also, I checked my reservation for Palo brunch is there is not any brunch on Nassau day on the website. I am holding a 10 am ressie for Bruch and all the timeslots seem to be avaiable right now....

My DH is also married to a grandma!

I am a little worried about Palo brunch if ther's only one. Not worried enough to want to pony up more cash for the Romance Package, but a little worried! I'll just need to be really on top of booking at 75 days.

Ok, I've been looking for this thread.

My family and i will be on this boat as well. (don't worry, I am not as big of jerk as i come accross on these boards as) :)

me - 36
wife - 37
daughter #1 - 6
daughter #2 - 9 months

It is actually my birthday 1/27. As you can see by my sig, we do disney a lot, and just wanted to try something new. this will be our first cruise. We are scared to death we will get bored.

So we are doing 3 days at Beach Club, then 4 days at sea. Disney is doing all the transportation work.

We went to the post office to get our passports made 2 weeks ago, they should be good to go in a few weeks. now i just need the 14th of nov to come so i can reserve Palo, rasul massgae room, and day care.

We will be in a cat 5 room with verandah on deck 7. i go nuts in an inside room.

We are young at heart and like to have a good time.

Cheers.

Welcome Got Quattro.

I don't think that you will be bored with being on the ship 4 days.

Everyone is different of course but I've spent a lot of days on that ship and not been bored at all.

On such a short cruise you have plenty of opportunity to be OFF the ship if you want (Nassau, Castaway Cay). I hope that you will find there is not enough time to enjoy everything the ship has to offer.

I have a question for you???

If this is your first cruise, how do you know that you go nuts in an inside room :confused3

I'd go nuts in an inside stateroom room looking at 4 walls all the time.

I will usually get up before my family on vacations, and usually go to bed after them. I enjoy just sitting on a balcon someplace, alone with my thoughts.

I couldnt imagine not being able to sit out and see a sunrise or sunset from my room.

Also, are not the type to go go go on the run every minute. We like to go back to the room for naps and such. A room with a view is imperative.
