I have tried every hotel in Port Canaverl/Cocoa Beach for 1 night stay next week, Jan. 26 and they are all booked!! Does anybody know why?? Any suggestions on where to stay? We are driving down and will arrive late Wed night. I wanted to be close to the Port for our cruise on Thursday, but maybe we will have to stay up 95 somewhere? Any idea on why every hotel is booked on a Wednesday night in January? I am going to try Ron Jon, have not yet due to their hours, but does anyone know about how much the smallest room is? Thanks -

I just tried expedia, and there is not one hotel that comes up available, other than one that you can not book for fewer than seven nights. This is strange, but I would try their 1 800 numbers, I remember wanting Best Western, and online it was totally booked up, and when I called was able to get what we wanted.

I have no idea why it is all booked up. Is there something special with Apolla that day?

There is a rocket launch scheduled for Jan 27 - yes. When I checked expedia it came up full also so I called my TA told her I wanted to stay one more night after our cruise (Jan 27) so she called down and booked it right away - no problems.

So I am not sure what is up with the website availability.

We are staying at Ron Jon next Friday. We are in the small room (which, from what I hear is really quite large), the "villa, I think it's called. We paid $125 for the night, and we booked back in June.

Hope this helps...

Hi MariaTia2,

We are staying at Ron Jon on the 26th for one night...I booked a 2bedroom deluxe villa for 125 in early Dec.

Good luck!

An Update.......We got a room :cool1: !! The Ron Jon had a 2bedroom villa (everything else was booked) for 125.00. (which is not a bad price, we paid more in Dec. at the Radisson). They are having a January special on weeday nights. Cricket538 you might want to check on your rate. She said a studio villa would be 75.00 if it was available. Well, now one less thing to worry about. Thanks for your help. Disboards is the BEST :flower1: :boat: :boat:

Hi,

The Cape Canaveral hotels book up really fast right now because the hurricanes took out a lot of hotel rooms, so the law of supply and demand means higher bookings and higher prices. When you add in a launch, it's pretty hard to find a room. :charac2:

That said, are you going on the 3/27 Wonder? I've been looking for this group for a while! I'll be there along with 9 family members, so I hope to see you all there! :cheer2:  :cheer2:

Hi there - there hasn't been anything in the paper or anyone else about the hotels/motels being filled, BUT we do have a Lockheed Martin Atlas 3B rocket being launched from pad 36B sometime that day (times are always held until the last minute due to security) - we are also having the Apollo One memorial ceremony starting at 5:30PM on Thursday (this is the one that I am responsible for and asked if anyone wanted to attend) - everyone that will be attending is staying at the Radisson - now, when I get to work, I will call the hotels that I know personally and find out why rooms are not available -
BTW - I wanted to mentioned the new motel next door to Ron Jon's on A1A will be opening in May - looks like it's going to be super nice (this is a sister to the Radisson) tho its going to be a Sheridan -
Norm and I were suppose to leave to go to Key West next week and found that the rates were sky high - the highest we have had in more years than not, so even at conch rates, it is over $250.00 a night so we are delaying our trip for a couple of weeks - color me very disappointed.
Anyhow will post more when I get to work - meanwhile everyone stay warm.
Always
Shirley and Norm
ps - those needing rooms - drop me a note and let me see what I can do from this end.

Thanks MariaTia2! I called Ron Jons and the rate is up to $160 for the studio villa for a Friday night, so I guess I got a good deal, but I appreciate the heads up.

Countin down the days!!!!!!

OK - I called a number of hotels and motels here in Cape Canaveral and Cocoa Beach - the reasons for all the bookings are as listed - The Brevard Zoo is having a convention starting next week, the Apollo One Memorial service is having a number of people coming down for it, Sun Cruz Casino is having some type of party for over 100 people, then last but not least - we have a launch on the 27th - there was a few openings at the Holiday Inn, Motel 6, Best Western and that was about it.
If I can help further, just let me know ok
Always
Shirley

Thanks so much for the update Shirley! You are so nice to all of us Diser's. Sorry to hear about your trip to Key West, maybe you will have even nicer weather we you go later :D Thanks again for your thoughtfulness
