This is probably a silly question, but I want to make sure this is ok. Is is ok to pack sealed food (like candy) in your checked luggage?

Yes, I didn't have a problem doing that last tiime.

I've been gone from my laptop for the weekend- glad to be back to the DISBoards- whoo hoo!! We leave for FL in four days!!

First off- Alexis, I'm so sorry to hear about your Gma. My father was battling leukemia before we left on our last Disney cruise....he passed right after we came home- so I am currently living in fear of someone getting ill in our family!! Sending HUGE prayers your way.....and wishing you a safe drive to go and visit her.

I too bring my own hairdryer.

Fun story- my DH logged into our DCL ressie for the first time tonight on his own computer, and found an available Palo reservation!!! Sure, its the first night at 7pm, but I told him to go ahead and book it. We can always cancel later. Our kids are young enough, that they'll be overwhelmed enough with the pool time, Sail Away party, etc that they don't need to sit at a table for two hours that night too......I just worry that we're being rude to our servers? Anywhoo---since I booked all of our excursions independently (Captain Marvins/Nachi)- my DH says "Look at that! We only have ONE Saved Activity----and IIIII made it!" Excited for him to feel involved with this whole behind the scenes pre-cruise deal!!!

And I may have asked this before----but how many suitcases is your family bringing? (Not carry ons.) I'm so curious!!

I hope to get away with 2 large suitcases between the 3 of us but will see when i weigh them tonight if i will have to add one more or not.

i always do without problems.

we used happy limo last time, they were great! they stopped at a grocery store for us. we got water, laundry detergent, gum (they dont sale it on the ship), and a few candies for my older kids to take when they went to a movie on board (they sale candy but its not cheap)
This time my cousins are picking us up at the airport and dropping us off at the port. I know i'm going to be so tiered, we fly the red eye (land at 7:05 local time, 4:05 our time) and I cant sleep on planes

I've been mostly packed for two weeks...but I keep repacking, shifting, finding things to add, then taking more things out....I think I'm slightly compulsive in making sure I have everything and not too much. I have to do another shift tonight and then I should be okay...emphasis on the SHOULD.

Hubby hasn't started packing yet. I'm not surprised though, he never starts packing early. He works evenings tomorrow and Wednesday, and plans to do his packing before he leaves for work one of those two days. We'll see how many phone calls and texts I get at work to find out where such and such is or will he need this or that.

I'm to the point now if I don't have it when we leave, I'll suck it up and pick it up either on the ship, in the airport, or at one of the ports. I'm just so frikken excited to be gone I can hardly contain it. I woke up to -25 degree temperatures (that's Celsius, sorry I don't know the conversion to Farenheit..needless to say, it's cold), and just keep telling myself there will be palm trees and the ocean in the very near future....

Here's hoping this week goes by fast...I just want to be on vacation already!!!

What time are you doing Captain Marvin? Wondering if we are on the excursion together. We are booked on their 8:30 am I think short Stingray City & Snorkel or whatever time we tender, then we are doing the $30/pp Island and Turtle Farm through them too right after. I checked out GC port schedule and they have 4-5 ships in port that day and I think estimated around 11K passengers so we wanted to get out as early as possible hopefully beating a little of the rush and crowds at Stingray City and while the rays are still hungry.

Too bad I did not know that some of you were booked with Captain Marvins or else I would have went with them also. We ended up booking with Moby Dick. I originally wanted to go with Dexter Fantasea but I wasn't sure we would make it into port on time for his tour. Oh well.

Chrisse.....safe travels tomorrow and have a great time in the city. Hope you have some smooth flights on Friday as well. We leave Friday late afternoon arriving into Orlando airport around 8:30pm. Staying at the Courtyard Marriott near the airport. See you on Saturday!!

We used Happy Limo a few times going to WDW and we just told the driver that we wanted to stop at a supermarket. He told us a local Publix was on the way and we agreed so I'm sure if you just tell them the type of store you're looking for they will work with you on where to stop. I have found them super nice and accomodating.

Started to pack....we will have at least 3 bags plus a carryon and our backpacks. Ugghh! Oh yeah a stroller too.

If there is a conditioner it is seperate, i just dont remember if they supply conditioner or not.

No baby items.

There is bar soap and shower gel.

Please be aware ( and i know alot of people love the DCL items, my DH included) it has a very weird smell....foresty, minty,manly i think....someone else who has smelled it can chime in....But it def AINT FOR EVERYONE!!!!

I have never NEVER has such a hard time packing.......

It is not helpful that my teen kids want there clothes NOT packed til like Thursday but i finally got most of what needed from them.....uughhh

He has earned us 2 southwest tickets in the ast 6 months and about 8 free car rental days.....at least their are perks

Sorry guys i am tooo tired to do anythng else but sit here sooo....
I can type........

For those of you who have NOT been.....

Tips i can think of...........
1. If you plan on taking motion sickness meds take them about 4 hours before you get on the ship.

2. Where do you put all that luggage......After you empty your luggage, one person hold up the bed and the other slide your luggage under the bed...You will have troubel finding spot for luggage if you dont do this.

3. If you still need more room.....ask your room stewart to take the large stool out of your room...it i basically the chari to the desk....BUT WILL YOU REALLY NEED A DESK ON YOUR CRUISE???

4. IF YOU LOVE THE soap products and want more ask for them they only replenish half way through the cruise as they are fairly large sizes.

5. If you have a window or a verandah put a alrge sticker or something ont he window so you know your rooms from out no other reason excpet that it is cool to take a picture of your room from OUT of the ship.

6. IF you happen to get intoxicated.....DO NOT LOOK DOWN atr the carpet as you walk through a long hallway!!!!!
