Is it me, or does anyone else not like anything on this menu. I feel so bad, but nothing but the "tea" (regular orange pekoe) and cucumbers appeals to me. Not sure if I will be making this one. I thought it would be more like the brunch, which is yummy!
I LOVE having Tea at Palo's and especially enjoy all the yummy little sandwiches and delicious desserts offered. It's also very peaceful and elegant, kind of a nice oasis away from the rest of the ship....truly special. I had reservations about trying it after enjoying brunch and dinner at Palo's so much, but enjoyed the Tea just as well. :)

I'm pretty much with you MCazer. I'm a little bit of a picky eater (OK Liz, VERY picky). I won't even eat the cucumber sandwiches because they have cream cheese on them. I just thought it would be a nice environment to chat and compare notes about the upcoming island days. I do enjoy tea and I saw on Barb's website a picture of the spread and it looks very nice. I'm sure the scones will be yummy, and I saw that they also have chocolate eclairs! No, I won't get the same out of it (food wise) that I do with brunch, but it might be fun and something a little different.

Do any of you know the 800 number to check on the movie schedule? Also, is formal night still on Sunday? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks everyone!

I want to have the detox spa treatment only
can anyone one tell me if I should book it now or do I do it on board
I have no idea how to do this stuff with the spa
if i am supposed to book now how do I go about it?
any help would be apperciated
thanks

I called yesterday about the movie listing and this is what I was told will be playing: (The # is 888-325-2500)
-Around the world in 80 Days
-Brother Bear
-Confessions of a teenage drama queen
-Finding Nemo
-Ladder 49
-Home on the Range
-The Incredibles
-The Village
-Miracle
-National Treasure
-Pirates of the Carribean
-Princess Diaries 2
-Raising Helen

Yes, Sunday night is formal night.

Enduke, you will need to book your spa treatment as soon as you board. The only advance reservations they make are for the couples massage if you book the REAS package.

DH and I have been wanting to see both National Treasure and Miracle. I am glad they will still be on board.

Also, DS7 will LOVE to see the Incredibles again (2X already. . . . . we now call him "Dash") What a thrill to see it on the ship!!

Are we there yet????????????

Thanks newtodisney! Very nice of you to actually list the movies. I spotted the 800 number at one point and could never find it again. We havn't seen the incredibles and now we can definately hold off. Our 8 year old (almost 9) is begging us to see Pirates and we have established the no pg13 rule. Can anyone comment on why this movie is rated this way? Thanks you guys.

Thanks for posting the movie listing, newtodisney!

Looks like I might spend the whole cruise watching great movies! :p

We feel the fight scenes are to much for an 8 year old. In one early scene, a Pirate gets a pretty big axe stuck in his back. When DH and I saw that, we decided not to show it to DS7 (almost 8).

Also, the overall theme of the movie is a little more mature. The "bad" pirates are stuck between life and death. As a result, they flip between humans and skeletons. To scary.

DH and I loved it, and will probably watch it on the ship while DS in in the club.

newtodisney
thanks for the info.
I am going to try and book it asap. I hear it is wonderful.
and thanks for the movie listing!

Now if we would only get our docs. i would feel better.

Both of my children 8 and 6 have seen Pirates of the Caribbean, we actually bought the DVD. They did not find it frightening at all. They love the ride and we already had a Pirate birthday party, so it was logical that they would love it.

No nightmares, no scariness for my kids. Any adult humor went right over their heads. I would watch it for free first and then decide if you are leary. Usually, after the movie has run a few times in the theatre, they then show it in the staterooms. Give it a try then.

Thanks for the feedback on the movie! I think DH and I will rent it b4 the cruise and watch it while were packing!

We are looking forward to our first cruise!!! My DH and I are bringing along 2 DS - 9 and 7 (on Jan 22nd he turns 7) my DD - 4 1/2, friends and their DS - 7, & DD 4. My parents, in-laws and 34 year old brother will be with us too. It's going to be wonderful.

My Traveling partner and I tried to book the St. John excursion to Trunk Bay but it is filled up!!! UGH!
I want to visit Trunk Bay so bad. Especially since I was at a birthday party last night and another couple was bragging about how beautiful it was.
Is there anyway for us to get there w/o an excursion? Maybe taxi??
Also, do you think I should keep trying to see if any cancellations come about?
I dont' know what to do!!!

I would try to find another way, however, I did that once and then once aboard someone had cancelled. Another time, I kept calling and they put me on a list and called me when someone cancelled.

Good Luck!

I've not done it...yet, but we were considering a do it yourself trip to Trunk Bay. Based on my research at www.vinow.com, there are two ferries that run between St. Thomas and St. John. One runs every couple hours from Charlotte Amalie to Cruz Bay starting at 9am. It's more conveniently located, as the Magic will be docking at Crown Bay, but the fare is a little more and if you miss the 9am, it probably wouldn't be worth the effort to do the 11am.

The other ferry runs from Red Hook to Cruz Bay. This ferry is cheaper, quicker and runs hourly, but you'll probably need to taxi over to the Red Hook from Crown Bay.

Here's the ferry schedule and pricing:http://vinow.com/general_usvi/interisland_ferry/

If we do it, we'd try to be on the 9am boat from Charlotte Amalie to get over there and then either do the 1:15 returning to Charlotte or 2pm going to Red Hook insure time to get back before the Magic heads out at 4pm. I guess cost starts to add up. If we did Charlotte, it'd be $14 roundtrip per adult and $6 roundtrip per child. That's $40 for family of four. Plus, about $4 per person each way for taxi to/from Trunk Bay, there's another $32. Then another $4 per person for park entrance fee. Hmmm...I guess I'm up to $88. May just talk my self out of it. :rotfl:

Thanks Margaret and Joel...

I will be calling Disney every day to see if there is a cancellation. I did ask the gentlemen on the phone (who was very pleasant) if they had a waiting list that I could put my name on and he told me no.

If I can't do the the excursion then I will do it by ferry. Thanks for the schedule Joel.

Less than 2 weeks! You all excited? (what a dumb question. lol)

Hi everyone!

We will also be sailing with you on January 22 – can’t wait! We’re six friends (all adults) traveling together. My husband is diving in both St. Maarten and St. Thomas, but the rest of us are looking for excursions.

We’re primarily looking for beach time, with added interest in kayaking or snorkeling—though I had originally planned to leave the snorkeling for Castaway Cay (where it will be easier to do somewhat informally).

It’s late, so I’m fully aware that we’re out of luck/that most things are already fully booked for a reason. We planned and booked the vacation late and getting five people (in multiple countries) to plan ahead took time . . . anyway, not a lot of choice left.

We did manage to book the French Riviera Beach Tour in St. Maarten for all five of us. I never see it discussed here, and I’m just wondering if anyone has any experience with it. I’m guessing that a lot of folks just do the beaches on their own (despite the cost, the idea of transportation, chairs, lunch, etc. prearranged wins out for us on this trip), which is why it’s not booking up . . . but if there are any big negatives, it would be great to know (as for adjacent nude beach . . . we have no trouble at all with that).

First choices in St. Thomas were the Marine Sanctuary Kayak Tour, the Trunk Bay Snorkel Tour or the 5-Star, and they’re all booked solid. Any thoughts?

The St. Maarten Kayak tour seems to have some room, so we could kayak in St. Maarten and try and get over to Trunk Bay on our own (though despite the rave reviews of the beach, the travel time might not be for all in my group). Any other standouts in St. Thomas . . . or thoughts on kayaking in St. Maarten?

For those in my group who really want to kayak – how is it just to rent sea kayaks by the hour at Castaway Cay? Is advance booking critical for those? Anyone go on the CC Waling and & Kayaking adventure?

On our previous Disney Cruise (just me and DH, 4-day Wonder), he went scuba diving, but otherwise we didn’t book anything and just hung out and walked around a little bit/stayed on the boat and relaxed.

Sorry for the long post, and thanks for your help!
