Jan 22, 2005 Eastern Cruise MAGIC Anyone?

o.k. Everyone,

As I sit here watching the Magic arrive in Key West, I decided to give our thread a little bump. I did a mini celebration when we hit 179 days, because I consider that under the six month mark. Less than 25 weeks to go (that makes it sound shorter, huh?)

Pianogirl, it was fun to read your post and see that you spent time in Coronado as well. I was born and raised in San Diego (Dad in the Navy, of course) and DH and I were married at a church in Coronado. We actually had our reception at the O-club there. . . .the hall was called "The Sandiper." As Piper is indeed my real name, we always thought that was funny.

We are shooting to be at the port at 10:30. We are staying at the Hilton Garden Inn by the airport and using Happy Limo. They will pick us up at 9:15. I think we will make a quick grocery stop just to pick up some water and diet cokes to have in the room, then off to the port.

I hope everyone is doing well and keeping busy as we speed along towards January 22nd 2005. BYW, we have a code name for the trip, as its a secret for DS7. DH and I call it "J-Lo-5". Wouldn't Jennifer Lopez be thriled about that? LOL. I don't think I have ever even seen one of her movies.

Itinerary changes? I saw some threads about cutting out St. Marten and adding Anguila and/or San Juan. I just called DCL and was told the itinerary hasn't changed for our cruise yet.

On a side note- we had a guarantee cat. 6 room when we booked this on board our May cruise. We loved our cabin (6116) and asked that we get assigned the same one. The CM told me that we indeed have been assigned that cabin for our 1/22 cruise. WOO HOO!

I for one, would love an itinarary change. Having been on the Eastern, and the Western on both Disney, Royal Caribbean and Princess, a change would be appreciated!

Crossing my fingers. BTW, picked up a couple of pairs of Disney Pajamas for my kids @ Disneystore.com on sale.

Remember Goofy's Pajama Party! This way my kids have a "Disney" pajamas set to wear. Won't be able to get them soon for warm weather!

Got a towel and a bathingsuit too!

Hi everyone! Unfortunatly we have to cancel our Disney Cruise. I found out tonight that my husband will not be home until April. That will be 13 LONG LONG LONG months. I hope you all have a great time!

-Stephanie

Oh Stephanie, I am so sorry. 9 months is so long to wait, 13 feels like forever.

I don't know what to say.

Liz,

What number did you call? I would like to call and see if there is any updated information.

I will have to look up where Anguila/San Juan are located geographically. DH and I love the two days at sea, which is why we take the Eastern. How would this change impact the two days at sea?????:(

This is my first post after lurking for months, so forgive me if it doesn't look right.

My DH & I will be on the Eastern cruise, 1/22. Thought we could be added to the long list.

One side note of interest... my DH works for the firm that produces the Mickey head paint chips. He said they are in discussion now to change from the Mickey shaped chips to a regular sqaure chip with a Mickey logo. It seems as though the Mickey shaped chipped vanish at a faster rate than other chips. Wonder why?? LOL

Piper- I called the DCL 800 # from the disneycruise.com website. And it might be antigua rather than anguila that was mentioned- sorry for the disinformation.

Funny- when I called them the CM gave me my cabin #. I called back on Sunday to ask about transfers and wanted to doublecheck our cabin #. This CM told me she couldn't give it out bcs the ressie was with a TA. ARGH! The group desk is closed on sunday so my TA couldn't contact them until yesterday but the good news is that we are indeed in 6116. *phew*

Let us know if you get any different itinerary info out of them!

All,

I have been watching a thread about possible changes in menus and theme nights. That is where the subject of a possible Eastern itenerary change came up. In any case, it sounds like a change is planned for a set of 5 cruises which St. Maarten being dropped for Antigua or San Juan. All these cruises were in late summer '04, so ours will still go to St. Maarten.

I know some are tired of St. Maarten, but we have been looking forward to it. Whew!

I've had to pace myself in the cruise planning department. We did a Western in Jan 2003 and rebooked on board (although dates weren't out yet for 2005 so we switched dates once 2005 were released). In order to keep my sanity for the 18 months I have avoided thinking about/ reading about / or planning this trip. But that's all over now! Let the planning begin.

I was thrilled to find such a long thread already going for our cruise! Just a bit about our party...Me, DH, DD 10, & DD 6. We are travelling with my sister (Firsttimemom) who you have "met" and her family. I'm glad to see some other 10 - 12 girls. My youngest will be in the club with her 2 cousins (5 - 7), and I am a little worried my oldest might feel left out.

I finally booked our flights, and made a rental car reservation. We are still deciding what to do the night before the cruise.

I've been reading lots of Eastern trip reports trying to decide how we will spend our port days.

Thanks to everyone for keeping this thread going!

MickeyMinder- Here's our Swan saga:

We had spent several incredible days at AKL soaking up the Disney Magic and then switched to the Swan (my BIL got the $99 teacher rate which helped balance out the $$$ we paid for AKL concierge). But immediately upon arrival we knew it was going to be 'different'. The valet attendents barely acknowledged us, the front desk person was downright rude, the housekeeping staff acted like we were nothing but trouble when we asked if they could replace a broken bulb in one of the lamps. There was mold on the ceiling in the bathroom and my niece cut her foot on a large screw that was sticking up on the threshold btwn our adjoining rooms. Basically there was -0- magic there for us. The next morning my sister called CRO and got us rooms at WL and we were back to our happy Mickey-loving selves.

So that's the story...

Liz

Liz, how terrible! We have stayed at AKL and the service there is very hard to beat, but I would have expected the Swan to have good service also. So sorry for your misadventure. I just had to ask.

Newtodisney - glad to have your aboard. I was very happy to see another child my DD's age. She will be 12 in October. This really is a great board. THANKS to DU. :sunny:

Dear MCazer,

We too have booked the cruise. We will be traveling with our DD (turning 8 on the cruise) and DS (4 1/2). We have not been on a Disney cruise before and are very excited. Any one with ideas for the kids while in port at St. Maarten or St. Thomas?

Let us know.

Thanks, Docsbd
