Jan 2009 Code Watch

For whoever posted they were going on a cruise after their Disney stay , didn't want to have to spend the $200 on park souvenirs...if you're going on a Disney cruise, you can spend the $200 gift card on the ship. It's in the fine print. :)

I'm feeling better about my ressie and dining now. Thanks for the responses!

The family is very excited about the upgraded resort! We went from ASMu to Coronado. And we added two more days at Disney!

I'm pretty excited about the $275 in gift cards. (DH's birthday is during our stay so we get extra:) )

Is it January yet?

We HAD a split stay reservation at AKL and WL for 10 days in January (5 nights at each resort), room only reservation. When today's deal came out, I called to rebook and change to pkg deal.

Now, I was told by the CM who was helping me that I couldn't buy 9 day tickets with my 7 night room reservation at WL, that the tix had to be for length of stay only.

Is that what you all have been told/or understand to be true?:confused3

If we still wanted to do the split stay, we'd have to buy new 3 day tix for the AKL part of the stay...

We were a little disappointed to have to give up our time at AKL. It would be nice to have at least 3 nights there...but with such a good deal, it's hard to complain!

Anybody able to help???

Can't you pay the extra to trade the 7-day tickets in for 10 days when you get there?

I had read that you can't do split stays, that your free nights have to be at the place where you stayed the first 4 nights. Okay, fine. So the original plan to do 5 nights at AKL and 5 nights at WL was history...but I thought maybe we could do the first 7 nights at WL and then the last 3 at AKL. Though we could get the dining plan for the first 7 nights at WL, then do OOP for the last three at AKL.

Ok I was told the same thing but the CM told me to just add onto my tickets as soon as I got there and it would be the same amount they just couldn't put it into the computer...BUT I called back to check and the next CM said "yes you can" and easily took care of it for me...so if I were you I'd wait until things settle down there a little bit and then call back and see if you can add them...maybe tomorrow

You know if you are staying at a Value like we are I consider the 200 gift card as 2 more free nights of room ressie...so it's like buying 2 getting 5 free.

Except I've heard you can't put the $200 towards the reservation, so you have to get something else with it (not like that is usually a problem...)

grand floridian family of 4 7 nights with deluxe dining, 7 day park hoppers

saved 1800 over our original reservation and have $200 gift card...:rotfl:

Thanks to whatever Disboarder said to try to add extra nights- it saved me a lot!

Originally:

1/16-1/22 (6 nights) 2 adults + 5&6 yo kids, 7 day MYW base tix at POP- $1491.20

I tried re-booking to no avail, there were no 6 or 7 night codes left at Pop, or any other value. I tried 8 nights, and scored!

Now:

1/16-1/24 (8 nights) 2 adults + 5&6 yo kids, 7 day MYW base tix at POP- $1326.36
minus $200 giftcard= net price= $1126.36- a 24% savings!

BTW, my very helpful cast member (No sarcasm intended- he spent 45 minutes working very patiently for me!) couldn't push it through his system. I had the desired reservation up on my computer screen and ended up booking it online while he waited, then he canceled my original ressie. I'm going to check back every morning to see if any codes open at Pop I can drop the eighth day and save even bit more :)

Thanks again!

Susan

Sorry if this has already been asked, but does anyone know if the $200 gift card is good toward food?

Thanks! So excited we're soon to be back in WDW!!!

I would give them a call to check on that.

For those who are not seeing the dining on their online reservation.... mine did not show up either. I called to cancel the trip insurance the very nice CM talked me into, but DH said we did not need.

After the CM canceled it, I asked if I had dining because it wasn't showing online. He said I definitely have dining.... maybe there is just some kind of glitch with all the booking tonight -

He also said I should have the confirmation email within 24 hours and it should show up on there....

I am so excited about our trip for the first time, because I know we are actually going to go as planned! I booked Jan. 18-25th back in August, before the seasonal rates were even out. The original room only price was $4,661. Then value season rates came out and it went down to $2,818. Then AAA came out and I had $2,395. With the deal today I added 7 day park hoppers and regular dining for a new total of $3,387! (for me, DH, DD 9 and DS 7)! Working backwards, I figure the room is $1,625, so I have saved $770, and with the $200 gift card, I'm rounding up to a cool $1,000!!!!

Dreams really do come true!!!!! pixiedust:

:thanks: Thanks to all the code watchers, I definitely enjoyed lurking this board......

I need to know if 1 person has an annual pass, & the rest of the family members( husb & kids) who just have plain tkts. Is everyone in the party able to get the dining plan?:confused3

No, I'm not saying I am going to put it too my ressie, I know you can't do that I just like to think of it in those terms, like it's more free days.

Glad it worked for you! I stumbled upon that sort of by accident, but I was thrilled when it worked! :thumbsup2

Now, I was told by the CM who was helping me that I couldn't buy 9 day tickets with my 7 night room reservation at WL, that the tix had to be for length of stay only.

We have 7 nights and 10 day tix. You should be able to pick any tickets you want.

After...(looking at clock) a day of waiting and a few hours of attempts on the phone and being on hold...I finally got what I want

Prices based on the following:

Jan 26 - Feb 1
2A, 14 year old, 1 Child, 1 Infant
Contemporary MK View Room
Deluxe Dining

Orig. Rack Price with 7 day basic pass, deluxe dining $5262.00

NOW:
Same room, deluxe dining and 10 day MYW base pass $4200.00 - $200 GC = $4000.00 (and I have 600 Disney dollars from visa to apply!) So out of pocket....$3400.00!!!!

And if you all ask why I have the 10 day....when I was running the numbers...and made changes on the tickets.....there was only $30 difference from 7 day to 10 day. I figured if we had a significant amount left over I'd purchase the no Expiration at the end of the trip...if not....no big deal! We really only planned on going to the park 5 days originally....we could possible add another day...if not and I have 5 tickets for everyone left over...after paying the exp. fee charge....we could have our tickets paid for the next trip for only $20 a day.

So I can have a good night sleep tonight. All I need to do tomorrow is to find a good flight down...I already booked coming home...I had American Express points...and out of pocket our flight home only came to $40 pp (that includes bag fee)

So now I won't have to hear my DH saying to me anymore "what are you still doing on that computer?" after I told him all the amounts...he stood there in shock lol....

Have a great night all!

Thanks for the quick responses to my food question. One more... can you add air to a package online, after you already book a package?

I know one thing..I am going to sleep in tomorrow morning!! I'll miss you all but I need the sleep..lol

we had booked 6 nights at WL courtyard view, with 6 day park hopper. 3 adults and 1 5year old with insurance total was 2902.43. Changed to package tonight....same hotel, nights, tickets and insurance for 2242.22, A savings of 660.21 plus the 200.00 gc. Had no problems, took only 5 mins max once I got to talk to a CM. It was so smoothe that now I am hoping I have everything I originally had.
