Jan 2009 Code Watch

Ah, I'm so jealous of all you guys getting pins!! If you're part of a grand gathering are you usually excluded from that kind of stuff? (I know it's "random" as it is, but just wondering)

Cansomeone answer the question I bolded below? THANKS!

I received an email from Disney Destinations also just before. I have 2 rooms on hold with a TA for 1/16 - 1/24. I also called a couple of times and spoke with different CM's and looked for rates.

The email had my exact dates and said "We're so excited that you are thinking about staying at Disney's Poly...Book now to complete your plans...Call 407xxxxxxxx or your travel agent and use pin xxxxxxx.

SO, I called my travel agent she called Disney and told me that the pin was only good for check in between 1/4 to 1/16 and 1/25 to 2/12. Not my dates. She said it was for 20% off which would save me an additional $163 per room (I have 2 rooms being held).

If a Visa or GP code comes out that is better than this can I apply it on TOP of this pin or is it like any other code, you have to take the one off and then apply the better one?

You can not stack codes, therefore, one would be removed if a better one is available.

It's one discount per reservation, sorry. You'll have to give up the first one and re-book a new reservation with the better discount. You do run the risk of not getting your desired resort if it isn't available with the better code so it works best if you are flexible about where you want to stay.

I'm starting to really get frustrated. I have to figure out what our plans are going to be, and I need to know soon whether or not there's going to be any sort of deals and what they might be.

Do I set a deadline of tomorrow (Tuesday) at noon to just give up waiting, or Wednesday? A code could completely change our plans.

Patience, grasshopper. :flower3: There has always been a code in January and there is no reason to believe it's not coming soon. It's unlikely to be better than the AP rate offer (40% off), if you use common sense, but it should equal last years (free parkhopper, water parks and 20% off) or be a bit sweeter. Anyway, I hope it comes before you have to decide. I was in a similar position so I understand.

Ugh! I am frustrated beyond belief!

Not only did I get a misquote from Disney CRO but also from a AAA TA (she only quoted me for 2 nights, not 3). Is it me????

ANyhow, this TA just said some special for Disney is coming out on Nov. 8th. It's an additonal 5% off AAA's rates on Mods and villas.

I booked a package with AAA this morning. I received the 5% additional discount on my room portion of the package. The site states and the agent confirms that one must book and deposit by the 8th-22nd of Nov. to receive the discount on mods and dlx villas.:goodvibes There is an error on the page and it actually reads, "Nov 8 22, 2008" Somehow, this glitch/typo allowed my TA to apply it today. She may have done a hold or something similar, but at least I know that I have a spot on the discount train. Just check the site, and with your TA, to double check if it can apply now. I have an e-mail confirmation from my TA and it shows the 25% TOTAL applied.

Ooooooooo I wonder if CRO has access to that extra 5% for room only?

I called about the extra 5% and they hadn't heard of it.
I was happy though, because when I booked my AAA rate all I could get was waterview for POFQ, and I really don't need waterview at that resort, and finally a standard became available, shaving $158 off my room rate! :)

I doubt that they would have it. It is only available by making a ressie with AAA directly, as a package. When I first read it, I thought they were offering 25% off of the package. But, no, that would never happen. It was buy a package, get your room portion of the pkg. at 25% off rack rate.

I almost forgot the best part of the AAA extra 5%. She said that this is the deal that AAA TAs were probably referencing last week when they were ''predicting'' a new discount for this current week. AND, she stated that it was to ''compete with another discount.'' However, she did not say which that other discount might be. :woohoo: I just hope it is not the AP and FL resi. that will be the main competition. :dance3:

I'm one of those that gets up early (6:45:surfweb: ) and waits with the morning coffee code club to see if something will come out. I've been doing this for about a week now but I had a thought. The IT person/people are who are in control of websites and emails and I would think most likely they aren't required to come into work at 7am like CRO. Does anyone here know if a code has ever come out at 7 am? Or a major discount? I'm sleepy..lol..I'm not a morning person and I'd love to sleep in a bit but I get so antsy that a code/discount 'might' come out I can't sleep!

I do not know the history of the time of day that codes have been released. I am now a stay at home Mom, but was in the investment banking industry prior to my new gig. :goodvibes Our IT dept. would release updates, news, rates, specials, etc. at all hours of the day regardless if they were present or not. They set the sytem to go ''live'' at a designated time with the ''specials of the month'' as per co. orders and we would get the feed as it came to us.

I do not know IF Disney operates in a similar manner, but I would guess that it is possible that the Dis IT does not need to be present to make us all happy.

I was wondering the same thing. I could see that the Chase website was updated during the day today - no more MNSSHP ticket discounts listed...

Of course, when I worked in IT we rolled out all changes over the night shift to impact fewer "live" customers, so who knows. Of course, that was the logic I used when I checked the website at 2:20 AM while my son needed some help. (Footie jammies and nighttime potty breaks are not a good combo)

What is the link for the Chase Disney Visa website that would post codes and current promotions?

Where exactly on the AAA site does it say this? I was just on the site & couldn't find it anywhere. :confused3

The official Special Offers page on the WDW website also removed the icon for the MNSSHP tickets. But no new offers.

Please share!

I finally bought plane tickets today! I've been waiting for a good fare on SW, and I got it!

We're going for real now! We actually have a ride there! This makes me happy, although a code would make me happier because then we can stay onsite! :wizard:

I am in Ohio, so I use aaacentral . com Assuming that all AAA sites have the same, or at least similar set ups, look in TRAVEL and then VACATIONS. There is an event, The Best & Biggest Event, that runs 11/8-11/22. You can register to take part in the virtual event on 11/12, but it is not mandatory to get the extra 5% deal. There is a list of many destinations and descriptions. Look for AAA Walt Disney World.

This is what you will see....you can call your AAA TA without a code, just the info.
