Jan 2009 Code Watch

How much does AAA cost? Is it worth signing up for it just to get the discount?

The minimum membership is $50 - at least in Ohio. Also note - if you already have your reservation and you want to join AAA for their discount, you don't have to cancel your booking. You can sign a form that authorizes AAA to take over your reservation. That's what I'm doing so I don't lose my room at Movies, b/c it's sold out the week we're going. (1/18-1/25) The man I spoke with at AAA also said I don't have to join now, just before I go.

Just remember that joining AAA does not gaurantee you will receive the discount. There are a limited number of rooms allotted at each resort. Since the discounts were released several months ago, there may not be availability for your dates.

Maybe you could call WDW to see if there are any left before spending the money to join.

OK...Here for my noon check. I guess with all the AAA talk there is still no code from Disney. :confused3

It's after 12 o clock and no updates on any sites that I've seen. :headache:

Please, does anyone want to tell me I'm wrong and that there ARE some codes out? :sad2: I'd love to be wrong.

Chase just updated their "news & offers" section and removed the Halloween information. They DID NOT add a new offer. That is just mean...

Yuck- I just hit refresh and got all excited thinking they took it down and replaced it with something for all of us...but NOTHING!!!!:headache:

Do you guys think I should sign up for the Disney Visa? Even if i'm not planning on using it? I don't know if they would give me one with the economy the way it is right now...

I contacted AAA and the savings after paying for the basic membership was only $67!

When we got our disney visa in December 2008, they offered us 0% interest until september 2009. Not too shabby considering it was in addition to everything else that is included with the Disney Visa. But as you said, everything is up for negotiation with the current economic state.

That 25.00 Disney dollars for every Disney Visa person you refer is a ridiculous "perk" for having the DV.

Hmm, well it seems like Disney has offered pretty good room discounts in the past for Disney Visa holders. I haven't seen any offers for the general public that were that great...

I've had my DV since 2004 and, usually, the discount is the same as the GP one. The main advantage is having an earlier crack at them than the GP (again, usually). The free dining this year - for Oct-Dec - that never was offered to the public was an unusual event in my 4 years as a cardholder, who knows what it signifies for the future. It's not a bad card to have!

Whose turn to call Disney??? :) None of the information from helpful castmates seems to be all that accurate, but it makes me feel better anyway.

I'd be happy with the same 40% off rack room rates they are sending pin codes to Canadians and UK folks. I hope DV or GP at least match that, if not, well it's not fair!!..:headache:

I read about people getting emails from Disney Destinations about current discounts and such. I don't recieve anything like that. The email I have recieved from them is our reservation confirmation.

Does anyone know why that is?:confused3

It seems that the Disney Destinations code/pin emails are random and no one really understands why or how to get them for sure. . . :confused3

The only ones I ever receive are the ones for Disney Visa cardholders.

I would double check in your email from Disney Destinations that it doesn't have a use pin xxxxxx.

I received an email from Disney Destinations also just before. I have 2 rooms on hold with a TA for 1/16 - 1/24. I also called a couple of times and spoke with different CM's and looked for rates.

The email had my exact dates and said "We're so excited that you are thinking about staying at Disney's Poly...Book now to complete your plans...Call 407xxxxxxxx or your travel agent and use pin xxxxxxx.

SO, I called my travel agent she called Disney and told me that the pin was only good for check in between 1/4 to 1/16 and 1/25 to 2/12. Not my dates. She said it was for 20% off which would save me an additional $163 per room (I have 2 rooms being held).

My question is - do you think it is worth changing my travel dates for $326? Probably, right?

Also, if a Visa or GP code comes out that is better than this can I apply it on TOP of this pin or is it like any other code, you have to take the one off and then apply the better one? :confused3

THANKS!

I finally bought plane tickets today! I've been waiting for a good fare on SW, and I got it!

We're going for real now! We actually have a ride there! This makes me happy, although a code would make me happier because then we can stay onsite! :wizard:
