Jan 2009 Code Watch

by the way, when is the marathon in January?

Marathon weekend is Jan 10-11

I spoke with my AAA agent again and confirmed that the codes WILL come out next week so those of you calling today and this weekend won't have any luck until sometime next week. She couldn't give me any dates or specifics.

We are coming to WDW on January 11th. Will it be crazy busy from the marathon, or will things be winding down?

Just a thought, but does anyone else think that 'free dining' if over as we know it to be? I think that Disney would have to reflect the new counter service plan like they did the deluxe plan last year. :confused3

My thoughts for this year is that when there is free dining (hopefully in January!!!) that the counter service will be the one that is actually 'free'. Whereas, the regular dining plan will cost the same as the counter service plan and the deluxe will once again be the cost of the regular plan.

Well, we booked bounceback free dining for next Sept. and it's the regular dining plan again.

I'm hoping for a good room only discount...we're AP holders and also have the Disney Visa, so I'm hoping we will get something, somehow.

I think that they are going to find that few people book quick dining, they may offer 2 different free dining periods one with quick and one with regular. but that is my opinion.

I am also waiting ever so patiently for the elusive code..

I want to book but am holding out until I see what the code is.. Cant wait though because Im planning on telling DH that we are going for 2 weeks to WDW but actually only book 1 week then surprise him with a cruise..

Cant wait!

Going 1/17-25. Think we would make out better with free dining than 40% off room. Staying at value resort and with MLK weekend not getting promo....would only save about $200? Free dining would save us over $500!

The new quick service dining plan doesn't take effect until almost the middle of January (I only know this because we check in on the 10th, and our TA told us we were not eligible for the quick service because that option was not being offered until check-ins occuring on or after Jan. 11th).

So here's hoping for the good, old-fashioned, basic free dining plan in its pure and most beautiful form....at least for us pre-January 11th travellers! pixiedust:

Hate to say it but if we only get the room discount....may have to cancel and go on a 7 day cruise instead............about $1200 cheaper!

I am eagerly awaiting a code as well. Last year we weren't able to get the MYW code, but we did get the free hopper option.

Im hoping for the % off the room since we already have our park tickets.. I bought the no expiration on our last tickets and bought extra days so we could get 2 trips out of them.. fingers are crossed!

Suppose to be fairly light that week...unofficial guide says crowd levels are 4s and 5s but on friday crowd levels will pick up with the MLK weekend kickoff. We also arrive at WDW on the 11th. We get in on the 10th but won't check into GF (or wherever we end up if not GF) until the 11th and then we'll hit the parks. Ive read/heard that MK is the place to be on Marathon sunday. it's suppose to be pretty light that week

We are checking in on the 10th also. At this point, we have a room only, for 3 rooms at Pop from the 10th to the 17th. The 16th & 17th are typically blacked out for the codes due to the holiday. Would we be able to use a code for our other dates, (10th-15th) with 16th and 17th blacked out?
:confused3

Unofficial guide also said that the second week of Decemeber is one of the least busiest times to go. We originally booked our trip for Dec 7th based on this information. I found out this was not true at all. So I do not know how much i trust the unofficial guide.

This may have been asked before, but if a code for use on a package comes out, but blocks the 18-19 of Jan, but not the rest of my week, can I still use it for the days that are not blocked? I have a package booked with Dining.
Thanks!:cool1:

I believe you'd have to book two seperate ressies. One for the days that would include free dining, then one that doesn't. I guess you'd have to pay for DDP for the days not included or go without (pay OOP). From what I've read on the Dis, they generally let you keep your same room, but you would have to go to the front desk to check out/in. Hope this helps!

Nice to know that I'm not the only one with that morning routine! We have our airline tix and car rental reservation...just nowhere to stay! I promised DH that by 11/3, we'll make our reservations. If they offer a code, we'll be onsite, if not, we'll probably stay offsite. :(

Ok, this is my daily morning check-in!:surfweb: Did I mention, I also check in nightly before I go to bed:rotfl: ha ha, but yes I do. Anyhow, NO NEWS yet, right? I read another post this week where someone speculated that the codes (if any) typically come out on Mondays - so MAYBE this Monday, keeping my fingers crossed.

Hi Poohbear Family, read on your post that you have not made your room reservations. You might to book a room only reservation before any codes come out. I know in today's economic times there should be plenty of room available, right? But some dates are already sold out, for on-site rooms, maybe conventions, maybe demand- I don't know. Anyhow, for an on-site room only reservation, you need a one night deposit, and can cancel 6 days prior to your trip at no penalty. If a better rate or package comes along you can then "upgrade" and still keep your room. I had problems getting the WDW resort and category I wanted for our dates, it took awhile, checking everyday to get it. Yeah, I am a daily checker kind of girl:lmao: If you decide to stay off-site, I don't think you will have the same issues. Good Luck!

Fingers tapping on desk :surfweb: wating for code checking morning and nite.
Hope monday tells the tale. We just can't afford to go without a code.
