Jan 2009 Code Watch

And btw....where is the code? Today should be the day.... LOL.

Just curious why you think today should be the day???

Historically the codes have come out closer to the end of the month. Last two years the visa code was released on 10/29 then the public codes released 11/1.

It's looked like this for the past two years. I'd hedge my bet the codes won't be out until the end of the month except for those in Canada.

I just tried accessing the Disney reservations online, and their system is down......does ANYONE know if this happens right before they release new discounts??

My cousin just tried to call in and book and she said that Disney JUST got onto a new "system" and the CM told her that they JUST finished when she called, so maybe that's why.

She was calling in to drop her dining plan and the lady asked if she was doing it because of the economy and she said yes, then the CM told her that there's something "big" that Disney is doing to help families out because of the economy. My cousin didn't know about the codes, but I'm assuming that the code is what the CM was referring to.

If Disney DOES make changes that aren't related to code and you already booked, can you still call in and change to take advantage of it?

The Canadian discount seems to come out historically 'today'. That is what I was waiting for.

I am wondering this myself. I booked a package through Disney (couldn't get AAA rate - not available) and am wondering if I should cancel the DP. Will I still be able to take advantage of the code if it's free dining or any type of deal if I don't cancel it? Or should I go ahead and cancel and hope that's what they're offering?? :confused3 :confused3 :confused3

I would keep what you have, what you are happy with, and you can always change it - they will let you change at any time.

Thank you! I didn't realize Disney planning was going to be this much work/fun! Also, I noticed you're cruising the same week we are, but not the same ship.

Does this conference at the Swan and Dolphin mean a lot more people in the parks 1/17-1/24? Wish we could change the dates but we can't.

I *just* got an email with a 15-digit pin code in it for $49 a night at a Disney resort plus 35% off select merchandise during my stay (for FL residents.) Could this be what she was talking about?

Too bad it's only valid select dates in November! :( Still waiting for that January code.

Yes, as a long time AP holder we also got the email (with PIN number) for this promotion. The date limits are too tight for us. It begins on Nov. 2 and we depart on Oct. 31, so missed it by just a couple of days.

No, don't think so, because she's not a FL resident but also because they told her to call back in 2-3 weeks (which is the main thing that made me think code).

I just wanted to warn you the January 2, 3 & 4 will be extremely crowded. Kids will go back to school on the 5th so the dates leading up to the 5th will be REALLY crowded. I went in that time frame two years ago and the crowds were horrible - on Monday you will see a huge drop in attendance but if you could push your dates to the 5th throught the following weekend - you will be much happier with the crowds.

Since the marathon is Jan. 9-11 wont that weekend be just as crowded.
Have you been there during the marathon weekend? It was very easy to get dining resis for the 2-9 and none of the resorts were booked. Is it Florida residents who pack the parks?

We were there on marathon weekend last year and it wasn't too bad. The resort was more crowded than the parks.

Marathon weekend crowds are not that high. Most people who are there are running or preparing to run or watching. I found the crowds to be great in the days leading up to the marathon and after up to the holiday weekend. (MKL Day) I have been anywhere from part of Christmas vacation up to MLK weekend. The 5th through MLK will be DEAD! Last year we literally walked on EVERY ride. We didn't even have to wait for big rides like Space Mountain and Soarin'. The weekend you are looking at will have park availability but you are looking at pretty long crowds. If you can start your trip on Sunday and stay through the next week, you will be much happier with crowds.

Now that is music to my ears!:thumbsup2 We're there from the 8-15. I thought the crowds for the marathon would be better than MLK weekend, so we decided to go with it. I keep hearing that the parks don't get so awful during the marathon. We schedule Saturday as an Epcot morning/hotel evening, and Sunday is our day at Animal Kingdom. HOpefully everyone is right and the crwods won't be too bad. We chose January to avoid the heat and the terrible crowds. At least we know it won't be awful heat!:rotfl:

So happy to you posted this:goodvibes . We'll be there Jan 10-17. I was really hoping for low crowds:woohoo:
