Jan 2009 Code Watch

No, usually the first couple of days are blacked out. It would probably start for Jan. 3 to Feb 12. Plus the weekend of Jan. 17-19 will probably be blacked out of any discounts too.

We are checking in on the 14th, if there is a code would it carry for the whole vacation or would I only get it until the 17th? I know they used to give you the same rate as the day of check-in for your entire stay.

So If I go down Jan. 8 - 18th, and they have a code for a discount Jan. 9th - 12th, do I just get a discount on those days?

POP is great! We have a little group of us staying there for the marathon. I'm hoping for an AP rate.

Hi! Just wanted to say Hello- I am your neighbor--in the Golden Triangle!! Ha!

So If I go down Jan. 8 - 18th, and they have a code for a discount Jan. 9th - 12th, do I just get a discount on those days?

Probably and then reg rate for the weekend.

Yes, when you do a reservation now the codes are more a la carte. It might show like below. Whenever I've done reservations now, each day sometimes is different, with discount codes for some days, higher rates for weekends, even higher rates for holidays. It is nice that you can see these rates when you use the online system. It helps sort out what you are paying per night.

All rooms have either two double-size beds or one king-size bed, table and chairs, vanity area with sink, and a bathroom. All rooms are non-smoking. Amenities include in-room wall safe, voice mail, hairdryer, iron and ironing board. A crib is available upon request. A mini-fridge is available upon request at a charge. Wheelchair-accessible rooms are available. These rooms offer views of the Resort hotel. (This was a search on the AP website for the dates of Nov. 19-24--see how they apply the price per night at Pop Century.)

Date Rate per Night
Wed, Nov 19 $ 54.00
Thu, Nov 20 $ 54.00
Fri, Nov 21 $ 99.00
Sat, Nov 22 $ 99.00

Here the search for a moderate (CSR) for the same timeframe:

I just booked 3 rooms yesterday for Pop. Our dates are 1/10-1/17. For the 10-15 we have a AAA rate of $69, but the rate is not available for the 16th. We are paying $82 for the last night (16th). My daughter, (not a AAA member) is paying $92 for the 16th.:confused3

Sorry, I was just guessing what the AP rate might be. I've revised my post to include actual dates that are being booked right now in the fall just to show a diverse way they price out the reservations now. I'm paying rack rate for Saturday 1/17 and don't expect it to drop, but I will be watching in case it does as you never know! But I had to book as Pop was the only value resort available for Saturday 1/17 which scared me a little. I too am paying $92 because it's the "holiday rate".

LOL, we too will be on the look out for lower rates! At least we are only paying the holiday rate for one night, as our checkout date is the 17th.;)

Ok, it's Monday, Oct. 13..............any word on codes yet? Still hoping, (but not counting on) free dinning! That would be a huge savings for our family of 10:scared1: Here's hoping!!;)

I am paying $107 a nt for ASMusic 1/17-24..........ouch! May be worth joining AAA to get a discount?

I'm still trying to understand from reading this...so if you book your vacation and THEN the codes come out later, can you change it and get the discount? Or do you all wait for the codes to come out before booking?

You can actually doing either. It seems as if many people go ahead and book and then apply the code if/when if comes out. My advice is book what you can afford to pay, just in case there are no discounts. If there is, call and see if can be applied. Remember, only so many rooms at each resort are used for the promos. If you end of getting some type of discount, just consider it icing on the cake. Good luck. Jennifer ;)

I've thought of joining AAA, too. But I'm not sure if I'd have to cancel my reservation and then book through AAA and I don't want to lose my room at Movies. Right now, the only thing showing availability is Pop. We're going the 18th - 25th.

As for the codes, it's my understanding that you should go ahead and book your vacation. If a code or offer becomes available, just call reservations and they'll adjust your package price.

No, you do not have to book through AAA to get the discount. Simply, call disney back and see if they have the AAA rate. They will then ask for your AAA number and if there's a room they will apply the discount. Its very simple. Hope this helps. Jennifer

I just joined AAA for other reasons, but now would like to get the AAA disney discount. I have a package reservation at POP for Jan, and did not book through AAA.

I am guessing I could change my reservation to a Room only and still get a AAA discount, right? I have purchased the travel insurance, so I don't want to cancel and rebook through AAA.

BIG Question -- do you think the packages are really worth it? Our counter service (QS) for the 7 days is about $300 for two adults & one child, and we only bought regular 7-day MYW tickets, no additions... The total package was $1800 (just under). Any thoughts? Should I keep the package with no AAA discount or drop the package to get AAA discount and then do the tickets and dining separate?

I suppose I need to do a bit more research...

To us, it's always been less expensive and more feasible to do the room only. Also, taking into consideration we've always needed the flexibility of being able to cancel up untill the last minute with hubby in the military. We for the first time are doing the package due to receiving the free dining during Christmas. We are anxious to see how it all turns out. So, price it out both ways and see what is more affordable. Good luck! Jennifer

We are going down for Marathon weekend in Jan. I've got 3 nights at Coronado Springs and 2 nights at the Poly reserved. Anyone know if AP rates or room only discounts normally come out for the Poly? I've always wanted to stay there, but ever just 2 nights is breaking the bank!

Thanks!
Stacie

Thanks Jennifer! I just priced out our package at rack rate (plus tax) vs buying the room at rack rate (plus tax) and paying full price for the dining, and tickets -- adding in my travel insurance to both....

6 nights at the POP- standard (2 adults, 1 child, 1 under 2) = ($554)
7 day regular MYW park pass (2 adults, 1 child) = ($649)
6 nights QS Dining plan (2 adults, 1 child) = $(222)
Travel Insurance = ($160)

The package quote from Disney - $1798.32

Buying the separatly - $1545.00 (rounding up a few cents)

That is a difference of over $250! ???????????????????:scared1:

I think I better get my R/O reservation and apply AAA discount for the best price....

AAA room discounts are usually a 20% savings = $110... My package will be about $1475, and that is before AAA ticket discounts about 5% ($32) . Total looks more like $1443 with AAA discounts, booking room only and the rest by separately vs. going with the package through Disney.

Total savings of almost $400!:woohoo:

Any thoughts? Did I miss anything?
