Jan 2009 Code Watch

You know we had a scare yesterday, hundreds of people got laid off where my husband works. Not manufacturing jobs...engineering jobs! He was lucky, we've only been here 4 months and he wasn't let go. I'm so thrilled that we're still employed....the code seems like nothing now! I'm still hoping we get a good one though!

I know exactly how you feel. My husband works in the auto industry, and they have laid off a TON of workers over the last 6-8 months. More just last Friday. Its so sad and so scary.

Glad to hear that your hubby was spared  .

Maybe if we all pretend to book trips, fill out the 'why aren't you booking a trip' survey disney gives you, and write that we would like our code, pretty please, we would get one.

Sounds like it might work, but I doubt it! While just checking & going thru the motions of planning a trip yesterday (on Disney's website) a pop-up of a CM planner to chat with. I of course expressed my dissappointment in never receiving a code or discount to return after spending numberous vacations at the Poly-she just kept saying to keep checking the website. She did mention how I should plan & reserve our dates to make sure our resort will be available. Sorry, I don't plan on doing that right now unless I can get some kind of discount. Maybe they will have something soon.???

There will for sure be a general public code released prior to Nov. 22nd, right? That's when our balance is due, and I don't really want to jump in and pay it off until I find out if there'll be a good code. (I hope and pray it's something that applies to a package...dining would be a Godsend...when my cousin called and changed her reservations (we're a GG and my mom had made them), she removed the DDP, and the CM asked her why, and my cousin explained that they just couldn't afford it. The CM said, "Well, there are going to be some great savings coming out to help families afford these things in a couple of weeks..." I can only hope she was hinting to dining. LOL)

That said, I'm not sure if I ever saw an answer to the question, so I'll ask again- is there a reason to rush to apply the code? Do they get "used up" after so many people or something?

you should apply the code as soon as you know your dates. They alot so many rooms for each code. So they could sell out.

Well, my intuition was a little right about something happening today as far as discounts go. I checked my e-mail to find a PIN for 40% off my room. Glad I did pay off my whole balance just yet. Had about 100 bucks to go. Still have my fingers crossed, though, for all of you that they will release a public code soon!

When I called disney, I was told that if I pay my balance in full and then receive a discount, they will refund the difference to my credit card. Is this not correct?

Do you have to be Disney Visa holder to get a PIN?

You may be right. I'm really not sure. I was just going by something I read upthread. If you are in your 45 day window though, I don't think they will issue refunds.

Mr. & Mrs. Smith....just a question for ya.

Did you JUST receive the email, or could it have been sitting in your inbox for the last little while (ie since the first round of PINs were sent to Canadians)?

I sooooo want to be able to get my hopes up, and think that maybe (just maybe) I will receive one of the magic PINs. Please, oh please, tell me they are sending out another round of emails to us Disney hopefuls!

When I booked our room for our family of 5, the suite rates were no less for the AAA membership. I couldn't seem to get any kind of a discount. I'm wondering if they have enough demand for these suites that they don't have to apply discounts. Do you think this could happen with a possible room code too? Would they keep the suites exempt?

Well we've already made our reservations though, so does that make a difference?

How often do the codes apply to POR? (if I'm even understanding all this right...)

I do not have a Disney Visa and can't. (I'm Canadian.) It was just one of those random PINs they send to people.

I received it yesterday - October 27. So there is still hope!
