Jan 2009 Code Watch

I apologize because I did not read all 51 pages before replying. (I broke my own rule.) But from what I have read, it seems like there haven't been any codes released yet? Is that right?

We'll be there from January 12th to 16th and we have booked a package at Pop already but we can always make changes.

Might as well join you all in patiently waiting for any news.

Thanks for the insight. I agree that 40% off or free dining is a bit much for me to expect. We don't have an AP or the Disney Visa so we are quite content with the AAA discount. But a girl can dream can't she?

I keep reading about the AAA discount...do you have to be a member of AAA to get the discount or is it offered to the general public? Weighing all of my options.

I haven't even gotten airfare yet, as the right thing came along before we were ready to buy and now it's gone! I'm feeling pretty nervous. :scared1:

Yep, you're right. No discounts released yet.

For passholders, I think 40% off isn't unrealistic - that's what they're offering for December and we all know that January is typically slower than December. We just need to wait and see what happens.

Since it's after 5PM here, I think I can safely assume that no codes will be coming out today :sad1: and I can stop refreshing this thread and step away from the computer. Maybe tomorrow will be a happier day? I have never spent more time at the computer than I have for the past months, planning my trip and replanning and more replanning; and then waiting, waiting, and waiting for a code:rotfl:

My TA explained it this way: Disney uses the codes as an internal "clearance sale". If they are overstocked on a particular room type at a particular resort, then the discount code will apply. If a resort is fully booked (or appears it will be so) then the code may not apply to any remaining rooms at that facility. The more rooms they have the clearance, generally the better the "sale".

I got the feeling from her that as a Disney specialist, she knew WHEN the code(s) would be released and what the savings would be, but she just didn't know which resorts it would apply to. That information is provided at the time the discounts are made public.

That said, January is only about 70 days away, and the Wilderness Lodge still has lots of availability showing (at least during the time when we'll be at WDW....all 7 room types are still available). So that might mean good news for you! Lots of unbooked rooms should mean that a code would apply there.

What week will you be there?

i am keeping my fingers crossed for january at the wl also

It's bad enought that my family thinks I am completely nuts for all of the time I spend on this site - but now I'm afraid I'm starting to agree with them:upsidedow

COME ON CODES :dance3:  :cool1: :happytv:

My hubby laughs at me every night when he sees what I'm doing. He won't be laughing when I save us lots of $$$$$$ (that is, if Disney cooperates and gives me FREE DINING)!! :worship: Oh please oh please... :worship:

I am not being greedy ;) all I want is a room discount better than I have with AAA.

O.k. I am predicting the discounts will not be made public until at least Thursday, but definitely by 11/3. With the economy as bas as it is my bet is on Thursday. Check out the historical discount postings at

Who really knows but it has been put out the last week of October the first week of November every year for the last three years.

Pixie dust for you pixiedust:

Just ran a quote for Wilderness Lodge, and I stand corrected....only six room types are still open, not 7 (apparently concierge level is no longer an option on our week). Beyond that, the other six are still showing availabilities.

:dance3: C'mon codes! :dance3:

I agree. I'm HOPING the visa code comes out tomorrow but won't be surprised if its not until Wednesday. We may be waiting until Monday for the public codes to come out although my TA said it was coming this week.

January 10th to the 16th. :flower3:

My dates too :cool1:

Hi everyone. I Have a few questions can't seem to find answers to. What time in the morning is a good time to check for an AP code? What site is the best one to find out if an AP code for January has been released? Also, what is the earliest one can call Disney for reservations if said code comes out? Thanks so much, setting my alarm!

Any info on the above questions would be most appreciated, thanks a bunch! :)
