Jameson/Jamison - is it a boy or girl name?

DH and I found out on our Disney trip a week or so ago that we are expecting a new baby!

It's still early but we are discussing names. We have a disagreement about the name Jameson/Jamison. Let me ask you - does it sound like a boy's name or a girl's name to you? TIA!!

Sounds like a boy too. There are lots of names that can go both ways but the James and the son make it sound very masculine.

To me it sounds like a boy's name, and it means "son of James". All names ending in "son" sound like boys' names to me because they mean "son of ____": Emerson, Madison, etc.

Reminds me of liquor and Jenna Jamison (sp?). I would think it is a boys name though.

When I read the names I thought male too. But I decided to google and did come up with a female,Jamison Belushi=female. Personally, I couldn't torture a female child by using those names.

I agree it sounds like a boys name, but the only Emerson & Madisons that I know are all girls

I don't know why exactly, but Jameson looks more masculine to me than Jamison

Jamison is what my dad wanted to name me. He didn't think Jamie was a proper first name. He want Jamie to be my nickname. He went ahead and just named me Jamie, I don't know why. My three brothers all have long first names and go by nicknames.
