It's coming soon! There was just to much work to actual DO at work today! ;)

What a great night time picture of the pool. I love it. The more I see all the wonderful pictures of the resort the more excited I get. Thanks for sending them in.

Don't worry I will control myself and leave some for you. :goodvibes
We are all very excited about this vacation. It is the first vacation were only the 3 of us are going Dh, Luvfigment and myself. My other DD and DSIL can not make this trip.

kimmar You will have to alert us when the Extreme Homemakeover show comes on! That is so awesome that your DH helped out :goodvibes
catsrule Glad to hear that the Segway tour was great :thumbsup2
Nancyg56 I will be sure to share my Segway tour review
Webbie/luvfigment Congrats on the single digits :cheer2:
Kimberly815 thanks for sharing the pics. I was in room 4428 two years ago just two floors above you. Here was my view
AKLPoolViewRoom.jpg

DiznEeyore I'm not sure as I have never stayed conceirge at AKL, but maybe someone else will know.
wintergreen Maybe you can call about availablity before booking concierge...I'm not sure if that is allowed or not.
CassI was two floors above where she was almost two years ago and I booked a pool view and I could not smell anything from the Mara or Boma.

AHA! Finally figured out a way around this board not seeming to allow "tables" or the ability to copy and paste them (had to convert to .png image files, upload to gallery here and paste URL into message). For those that had mentioned an interest (and anyone else who might care to use your infinite experience and wisdom to help out a poor old man), here is my schedule thus far. The various flowers and other items being delivered and such could be shuffled (God bless Jennifer at Disney florist) so hack away!

P.S. If anyone has done this "Preferred Viewing Area" thing for fireworks in MK, a clue would be appreciated. I'm afraid that was one thing Don asn't too knowledgeable about (assuming a friendly cast member would be kind enough to guide my lost soul to the right area after dinner). But, being 4th of July I'm sure folks will be VERY busy and I'd rather not have to bother someone ... if anyone has an idea of where we are to go.

Thanks scoutsmom -- since I didn't see anything in this thread, I went ahead and emailed IPO last night and rec'd a very nice reply from them noting my requests. So now I'll cross my fingers and hope for the best! :) As I told them in my email, the only crucial thing is non-smoking, and as long as we at least receive that, I will be content. :goodvibes

Dh and I are so excited ... he's wanted to do the Sunrise Safari for soooo long and we were so pleased to be able to book it. :thumbsup2

Now if only October would get here faster!! ;)

I just have one thing to say . . . AKL Goofy - you are THE MAN !!!! :thumbsup2  :goodvibes :cheer2: :worship: :love1:
If you ever write a book I will buy one for every man I know ;) ! :smooth:

For those who have done this, I have a couple of questions.
How far out can you book the sunrise safari? This is really the only reason we are staying in conceige. Can you stay just the night before and then change rooms the next day? Also if you change rooms when does your lounge access stop? As soon as you check out at 11 am or is it till midnight like the meal plan and other items are? Would it be possible to stay in the same room? We would like a savanna view, with a king size bed.

Thank you for all your help.

Mary

Thank you kindly. No suggested improvements then? I tried to see if I could get someone into the room to do her hair for her before Victoria and Alberts but according to "Sue" (I think, have to go back and check email), no amount of money matters, can't get that done.

How about the Preferred Viewing thing on the 4th... anyone?

If Disney doesn't offer the in room hairstylist, here is a link to a place I've seen discussed. I've no affiliation with them, nor do I know anything personally about them, only that I've read a lot of bridal parties use them for disney weddings. Here is the link, http://www.bridalbeauty.com/

They are apparently very good from what I've read. Good Luck

We spent most of the first night just enjoying the resort, since we knew that we wouldn't have much time the other 4 days we were there (First time trip for soon-to-be MIL, so we had a lot to do!) We parked and made our way into the resort and checked in.

We loved our room. It was great to come home after a tiring day at the parks to such a nice room.

Then we headed down to Boma's for our dinner ADR.

After Dinner we spent some time exploring the lobby and Savannah. (and of course the gift shop!)

We always made sure to stop by the savannah every morning to check out the animals- and there was always something out there. We loved the resort, had wonderful service, and would recommend it to anyone!

THanks for that tip! I tried to call but no one answered (can't leave a number for call back of course, too risky) so I'll try again later.

WOW! Beautiful pictures! When we go in September, we were going to spend the first night enjoying and exploring the resort too...even eating at Boma. Great minds think alike! :teeth:

How was the bus service? What room view did you have, was it a standard view, and was it a close walk from the lobby, or was it a long walk from everything?

I just wanted to interrupt and say that even though I have never stayed at the AKL before (but I hope to) this is one of my very favorite threads EVER on the DIS.
Keep up the good work :thumbsup2

We booked Pool View, and loved it! The pool is actually quite pretty. Our room was 2430, so when entering the lodge all we had to do was walk to the back of the lobby, go down the stairs heading torward the savannah, and go up the hallway on the right! We weren't very far down the hallway. It was great coming out in the morning too, because we would stop for a few minutes every morning on our way out and look at all the animals on the savannah before heading to the parks.

We actually had a rental since we drove to the Punta Gorda area to visit my parents and plan some of our upcoming wedding before going to WDW, so I can't comment on the buses! Sorry!

Hopefully you can reach them!!! Did you fill out the form for the services you want and to get an estimate? Perhaps you should do that also? (Click the Get Information button on the home page, then click on the Orlando-Central Fl. button, that will take you to the form.) Apparently, you fill that out and they get back to you with an estimate. I'd advise to still try calling also.

Good Luck - Keep us posted!

Kimberly, thanks for posting your pictures they are really nice! I know I am wishing away the summer but I wish August would hurry up and come already!
