Vicki,

What an awesome picture!!! Where was that taken from? Your pictures are getting me even more excited about our Sept trip! Thanks for sharing.

Hey, guys, I'm glad you like it. At the time we were staying 5th floor concierge and walking down the hallway when we passed a window and saw that view. We found the closest viewing area, which was very near by - and snapped the photo. pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:

We can't wait to go back in August.

Well, I'm still counting down the days.

Has anyone used the babysitting service at AKL, is it called Cubs Den? :confused3 DH and I would like to have a nice dinner one evening and would just like some feed back.

Scoutsmom, Scout is addorable. We have a beautiful black lab ourselves. Her name is Lucy. :goodvibes

I haven't used it, but it is located on the first floor of Zebra Trail by the doors that go our to the Mara and the Pool and I peaked my head in there one day when they were cleaning (in the afternoon) and it looked like they have a lot of fun stuff for the kids to do.

Thanks for the compliments :goodvibes

All I keep thinking about is how far away Sept 2nd feels!!! I think I will end up planning my little heart out between now and then.

Has anyone done the culinary tour? How was it and was it worth the time?

I love that photo of the AKL with the fog! Last December it was cool at WDW. Every morning (6-8am) when I went to the pool it looked like that. The water still felt great, and the hot tubs afterward felt even better!!!!

Scoutsmom...The culinary tour is GREAT! We did it last year and I really enjoyed it. We started off at Jiko, where Chef David explained the cooking area, and then had flatbreads and sauces for us to try. It was very interesting. Next we moved on to Boma where the chef told us about the many different types of food. Of course I loved the samples! Even DD8 enjoyed her special PB&J sample. ...they end the tour with a special dessert sample ...Zebra Domes. You asked if it is worth your time...Oh, yes, well worth your time!

BTW...you can also purchase Zebra Domes at The Mara. They're located in the refrigerator case.

ohsodisney,

Try a Victoria Falls Mist. Great drink!

Then, visit the Uzima Springs Pool Bar and have a Nahtazu. Even better!
I can't wait to try both of these - just 39 more days, and I will be lounging by the pool trying them out! One day and night at AKL just relaxing and gearing down for the rest of our trip. ;)

While on the culinary tour do you get a lot of samples or just a tast? We are planning on doing this the day we arrival with ADR's at Boma for 7pm and I don't want to be too full on samples to enjoy the meal. TIA. The trip is getting closer and I can't wait. I am enjoying the planning sooo much. :tigger:

A couple of questions...

Is the culinary tour for concierge level guests only? I know the safaris are.

Also, I was thinking of spending 8 days at Disney, would a split stay between AKL concierge and Poly concierge be worthwhile? Or should I pick one or the other. My dear mother is celebrating her 80th birthday and I thought I'd pull out all the stops :)

Thanks in advance!

LOL aren't you glad your mother can not keep a secret?? :cool1:

I would like to know from anyone who has done the culinarry tour, what do you get samples of? I also do not want to spoil my appetite but I also don't want to insult the chef. ;)

I would say it's just a taste. The culinary tour will be a great introduction to Boma prior to your ADR. I believe the tour begins at 4:30, but check the information board near registration to be sure.

The culinary tour is open to everyone. No fee, and no reservations necessary, just show up at the Jiko podium at the appropriate time.

What types of samples will you receive? At Jiko there were several types of flatbreads with various dipping sauces. At Boma it may change from day to day. Don't be shy. If you see something you would like to sample just ask. DD8 even sampled the PBJ! Of course you'll finish with...drumroll please...Zebra Domes! (or something else if you desire) :teeth:

Thank you so much for the info...can't wait! I love those Zebra Domes...had them last year, I know my mom will love them too.
