Just changed my ressie yesterday from All Star Sport to AKL for our August trip. Because of the free dining the difference was $300. My DH and I talked about it and decided to go for it. We have never been to the AKL and when I told the CM who changed from ressie she chuckled and said that once we stayed at a deluxe we will not to go back to a value. We shall see. We are excited. Now my DS's are 9 & 7, they were not to pleased with the change but I think once we are there they will enjoy it.

Woo-hoo :cool1: I'm going to AKL in September!!! I just got off the phone with a great CRO rep and I had my package booked in 9 minutes and I only had to wait 6 minutes for my call to be answered. My sister decided that AKL and pool view were worth the money. I can hardly wait!! I had to share my enthusiasm with my fellow AKL lovers  I'm off to find a ticker now :moped:

...... :cool1: GOOD for you.... :thumbsup2 !!

I'm so glad to be reading good reviews for La Noumba. My DH let me book it for our upcoming Aug trip and I am hoping not to disappoint... He didn't want to go at first because he said he already saw the show in Vegas. I really hope that he and our kids (10, 8 & 4) will enjoy it. Your positive comments are helping me feel that I made the right choice! :)
thanks,
Honu2

Can anyone tell me what La Noumba is?

I've just been sitting at my computer, reading about some of you going to the AKL for the first time and reading about some of you returning to the AKL again (and again).

I am so jealous! It should be me!

I hope all of you have an wonderful time at the Lodge. It's my favorite resort (with my favorite restaurant and favorite drinks).

When you return to your regular lives, I'll still be sitting at my computer, waiting for your trip reports and some more beautiful pictures.

.....and that drink would be... :scratchin ??!?!?!

La Nouba is awesome!!! A little pricey, but worth it. Cirque is not your ordinary circus with animals etc. If you have not seem them, then La Nouba would be a great place to start!

Since we will be going back 'home' to AKL in August, I guess I'll jes' HAFTA buy some tix to see La Nouba! :teeth:

Kimmar,

My favorite AKL drink would be a "Nahtazu," but the "Victoria Falls Mist" is a close second.

.....ANY drink from AKL is my favorite... :teeth: [hic-cup]

I have a question about "Arusha Rock" view? Can that be bad? Like would I be looking out at a rock? I had Uzima before, which I loved. I would like Arusha Savanahh but don't really want to look out over a rock!

Alright, I had posted a while back that DH and I would be staying at AKL...but you know...the longer you wait for codes, the more you talk yourself out of spending MORE money. So we booked at POR(wanted CSR) We've stayed at POR before, in the AB section(because of our family size) but never in the mansions section, so I requested there(just DH and me). But now I am having doubts. So here is the thing. We don't have a lot of money, well, we do actually, because we sold our house and we're living with a friend rent free while we build our new home, but we are saving all that money for the house, so even though we HAVE the money, we don't. ;) We booked POR for 5 nights for between $600- $700. AKL only has savannah view left and it's $1200+. So we would be paying double to switch. The only way I could get DH to do this would be to sacrifice my diamond for now. See...when we got married, we did just that, got married. No engagement, no ring, so DH had set aside $1000 for a ring(did you know JCPenny has a pre-owned section where you can get jewerly for dirt cheap??????) He was going to get the ring before our trip in May, if I told him that I would rather stay at AKL and get the ring another year, or later this year(if our house takes forever and we have longer to save.), he might agree that okay, let's go to AKL. So....is it worth it? Can I live without my ring, well yeah, I mainly just want one because everyone else has one and I want my bling. :teeth: Are we going to enjoy AKL SO much that it's worth 1200 for 5 nights? We plan on spending almost every afternoon at the resort by the pool, so we won't JUST be sleeping there. What do you experts think? This MIGHT be my only chance to stay there. Once we get into our new house(and mortgage :guilty: ) we probably won't ever be able to stay at a deluxe. I need advice and quick! If I need to switch then I need to do it NOW. Also, we are staying at POR in Sept. for 10 nights, so that's a facter too...

I've stayed at POR when it was called Dixie Landings, and we stayed at AKL this past May. To me, the price of AKL is definitely worth it. But it's up to you. Is this a once-in-a-lifetime trip? If so, I say go for AKL. If you go to WDW every few years, then maybe try for AKL another time. Or what about a split stay?

Amanda,
I think if you can swing it you guys would like it. I see it is your belated HM trip so I think you guys should go deluxe cos like you said you might not get the chance again for awhile. The pool area is really nice and it seems like you would have the time to spend in your room enjoying the savannah view and everything else AKL offers. Plus you have POR in the fall for 10 nights. I'm a push over though becuase I like AKL so much.

Mommy Poppins, you may just want to keep checking AKL to see if pool or st view opens up. Its only about $100-200 more than POR. :)
