Hi! I actually managed to read the full thread last year and it was amazing!! All this talk about the thread being to long made me start a new project: Provide links to the single posts with trip reports and pictures. There are some amazing reports hidden in this thread! I hope my project will provide direct access to those in the future!

I have the Canon Digital Rebel. Not the new 40D, but (I think) the 30D--had it for 1 1/2 years and I LOVE IT! I am by no means a prof. photog but I find this camera easy to use. At first all I did was on auto, which works great, but I am learning a few things so am branching out to some manual settings. I got this camera mostly for it's sports mode--several shots per second--and have had great luck! I haven't bought much for it except for the 75-300mm lens ($200) and a new battery ($15 on Overstock.com). I would recommend it for sure! The biggest downfall: It's kinda big, bigger than most digitals, but when I saw the 500+ photos I took at WDW and Discovery Cove it was worth toting around!! Here are a couple:

Wow!!! That's an amazing pic of the dolphins!!! Sounds like some good info. Hopefully, I can get to the photography board and do some research. I'm trying to get caught up at work before the holidays!!!

My wife LOVES her new Nikon D40x. She contends that Nikon has the best optics/lenses on the market and that has been her camera of choice since her days as a pro. In addition, the D40x is nicely priced much closer to the consumer "wheelhouse" than the cameras she bought back in the day, but offer a great feature set for the money.

Also, you might want to consider picking up a gorillapod (http://www.gorillapod.com/) as well. They're REALLY handy...we swear by ours.

My vote went to the Live/Countdown option. CB moves too fast. "JAMBO!....." would be falling off page 1 daily and, to me, there's nothing worse than trying to read a thread where every 2nd or 3rd post is "bump" or "subscribing". :rotfl2:
