Just booked AKL for next May. Will be the first time to stay there. The first 5 days savanna view and the last two days club level. A couple questions:

Is there a fairly recent list that shows which animal is at which savanna? In particular, zebras.

Is the Sunrise Safari still on Sunday and Thursday? I have booked the club level in hopes of being able to do the Safari. If I can't get it then I will just change to savanna.

The AKL is great. You will have a great time. The Safari is wonderful. It is at a slower pace than the regular ride and you get to take alot of pictures.
I agree with the others , your grandson and you will just love it.:wizard: :)

I am taking each of my grandsons, one on one. I came with the oldest one this past May and since he did not care where he stayed, we stayed at my "dream come true" place - CR MK View. This grandson is the animal lover of the family. When we come with the whole family, we never can take the time to really enjoy AK. This time we will. He is not a thrill rider so this will be a nice relaxing trip. :cheer2: I'm sure we will be at AK a lot.

Sounds like you have great trip planned for your grandson! If he is an animal lover AKL is just perfect for him! Make sure to check out the free activities offered at the lodge, some are animal related, like the night vision googles and I think there is one about feeding the flamingos.

The goggles are great! :cheer2:

Great ideas! Also, judykay53, you might want to check jaycns trip report: there are activities that her 3 sons did at AKL that were lots of fun for the whole family! I believe the boys earned beads for each completed activity. Here's the link: http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1585715

(if you have difficulty finding that information in her report, maybe you could PM jaycns - I'm sure she'd be happy to tell you about it!)

Thanks for the ideas. I did not know there were activities like that at the lodge. I will definitely find the trip report.

What size of shirt would you say he would wear? :laundy:

I just wanted to get him something for all his help with conciege . :woohoo:

...yes, but the coffee [the pressed pot] at Boma is REALLY AWESOME!:thumbsup2

Thanks for the info.!! Would you say the coffee at Mara is decent enough to enjoy a to-go cup on our way out in the AM? I can't stand the horrible coffee I've had at many places in WDW!

It's the same Nescafe as almost every other place in WDW. I lived with it ,but you'll definitely find better at Boma by ordering the pressed pot.

I personally didn't care for the Nescafe they served everywhere, but just to note that at Boma, you don't need to order the pressed pot, the African coffee they served was the best I had the whole trip! I could have kept drinking it but my family got up and left me at the table.....:rotfl:

I want to thank everyone for the positive reviews of AKL. My DH2B (well, right now he's to be, when we get to AKL we'll be married) and I are going to AKL for 3 nights after our wedding cruise next week. We were so busy planning our wedding and our transatlantic cruise in August that we didn't even think about booking a post-wedding trip hotel until 8 weeks ago. I was hoping to stay at the Poly, but they only had Garden View left by that time. I suggested AKL as an alternative because we visited when we went to Boma in September and it seemed like a very nice hotel. I was happy we were able to get a Savannah View room and booked it right away. I didn't even consider the ongoing construction at the time. When I finally remembered about it a few weeks ago I got pretty nervous. Now that I checked here I feel a lot better about it. :goodvibes

We will be there in a 1 br in December and I cannot wait! How many bathrooms are in a 1 br?

In the current rooms, there's only 1 bathroom in the 1BR's.

In the "new rooms" at Kidani Village (the new building...which isn't slated to open until sometime in '09)...there will be 2 bathrooms in the 1BR's.
