Hi, I was actually wondering the same and did a search here on the boards. The newest list I came up with is the following:

-Horticulture Activity 9:00am Every Wednesday Arusha Rock
-Flamingo Activity Everyday 9:30am Flamingo Pond *Bead Activity
-Animal Tracking 11:00-1:30pm Everyday Arusha Rock * Bead Activity

-Cooking Decorating 1:00pm Everyday BOMA
-Garden Safari 2:00pm-4:30pm Everyday Flamingo Pond *Bead Activity
-Spirit of Africa Art Tour 2:30pm Everyday Ogun's Firepit
-African Games or Crafts 3:00pm Everyday Uzima Pool Deck
-Culinary Tour of Africa 4:00pm Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday. 3:45pm Friday, Saturday, and Sunday Jiko Podium.

However, if I remember correctly, the start times of some activities vary with sunset (especially the story telling).

I did only the culinary tour last time and liked it, even though it was not the normal tour, and I am planning on going on the Cultural Safari and perhaps the Spirit of Africa Art Tour.

ETA: And with this post I finally became a DIS Veteran!! :cheer2: I wonder whether I will ever manage to become a member of the Jambo Wildbunch Gang...

Is there a fee for any of these activities? .......Oh! and congrats DIS VET:cheer2:

Does anyone know if you can ask for an upgrade if you are staying in a villa using dvc points? And if so what is the best way to do that when we arrive? Thanks

Do you mean a "free" upgrade without using additional points? If AKV follows the other DVC resorts, the answer will be "no". But then AKV is the only DVC that will have Club Level available for several of the Villas, so who knows! I guess it never hurts to ask, just don't be disappointed when you're told "no". :)

WOW! I am so excited about our upcoming time at AKL/AKV..especially seeing all those activities!! We will really be able to enjoy the resort!!!

flossbolna! Congrats Dis Vet!!!

Thanks for the congratulations!

I think those activities are one of the strong selling points for AKL. My guess is that they offer those because there is none of the traditional recreation as at the other deluxe resorts (no lake etc.). The activities are free, I think for some you have to pay for the materials that are used, like the craft sessions.

When I was on the culinary tour I actually got two Zebra Domes and three fruit tartletts to eat and some soup for free! I know, it is no free dining, but free food is always great! :lmao:

I really can recommend going on the culinary tour on the day of a Boma meal as you get the whole buffet explained to you by a chef!

Flossbolna,

I keep hoping that someday I will become a member of the Jambo Wildbunch Gang. I guess we don't have the right connections. Maybe we need some pixiedust: pixiedust: pixiedust:.

Well congratulations on becoming a DIS Veteran!

Thanks! To be honest, you obviously deserve it more than I since you are one of the top ten posters on this thread, while I am only number 18 :guilty:

Anybody know where I can get an officially updated list of the free activities?

Where do those stats come from? I wanna see 'em!!

:)

Thanks for the list, Flossbolna. We remembered about half of them, and were trying to figure out when those actually occurred. This makes planning our resort day a heck of a lot easier.

:cool1:

...how DOES one obtain that info anyhoo?? :confused3

HA! I found it.

Either in your User CP, OR on the Resorts page, find the thread and click the # of replies. It'll give a pop up window with the stats.

You're number 1 (big surprise), by far, with 1758 posts.

Number 2 is wendypooh with 538.

I'm #9 with 172.

:)

.... aw shucks.....actually, that isn't a LOT, considering there are almost 9,900 posts....

It was that "infamous code" that some received pins for and others could book without the pin. I was just really fortunate that it worked out for us. While we love AKL, I have never been able to swing the savannah view. With this code, I was able to do it easily. We spent last Christmas at AKL and will be there again this year.

That code worked for us too - and is the ONLY reason I was able to swing AKL - so I will be eternally grateful for it!! :cloud9: Thank you, thank you Disney!

So, the luggage comes up this Saturday (exactly 2 month from our departure day) for the packing to being.

We've got a bunch of "stuff" that's trip specific that's in a pile in the corner of our bed room (a NEAT pile, but a pile all the same). We also figure better to pack the short sleeves, shorts, etc than to stow them away for 6 weeks and then have to break them out AGAIN to pack some of them.

:)

Don't you love the way those of us that are "planning obsessed" justify things like this?

Now that is the only bad part of planning a surprise trip. I can't drag out the suitcases!! All I can do right now is toss a few things into the suitcases in the attic - which is a feat in itself to get to the crack in the pile o' stuff where the suitcases are living right now. Unfortunately I will not be packing much until the week we leave! :scared1:

Hey, where the heck is my ticker??
36 days to go!

....the 'tecchies' put in less room in your siggie (mine too...), so you'll have to redo yours to fit it in the allotted space...

It's quite a nice feature, isn't it! ;)

Anybody know where I can get an officially updated list of the free activities?

I am afraid that an official list exists only in the form of the activities board at AKL itself. Perhaps someone who will be there in the near future will be so nice and update the list, would be great to have! But be aware that it might change from one day to the next! I remember the activities board named the cast member who would do a certain activity and those changed during our stay there.

Thanks for the list, Flossbolna. We remembered about half of them, and were trying to figure out when those actually occurred. This makes planning our resort day a heck of a lot easier.

:cool1:

I was quite surprised what I found on the list actually and think I have to schedule more resort time to do a few more than the ones I already had in mind!

Hey! I think our AKL stays overlap for several days. Maybe we could do a mini-meet at an activity! :)
