DH and I honeymooned at the AKL and it was amazing. I know your honeymoon re-take will be incredible!

Gdad--I saw your pics on the room pictures thread & showed my family. The rooms look great. We have a bunk room reserved & my son is very excited.

Is that a queen bed? Looks bigger for some reason. Maybe it's just the angle?

We usually stay at CBR when we visit Disney World but decided to go for a deluxe this time. We chose AKL because of the price and the animals. Any advice would be great ... especially activities for adults and teens.
We have two girls ages 14 and 12 (they have no idea we are going ... it is going to be a Christmas surprise.)
We have reservations for a pool view w/bunks.
Dates are December 19-29.

Gdad - thanks for the room pics. We have a pool view bunk bed room as well, my kids are going to love the bunks! Is that a standard room or deluxe?

They say, "Once you go deluxe, you never go back"!

You'll love it! Although I have stayed at CBR, my favorite moderate is POR, but, as you can see, we're all quite partial to AKL! I have stayed at BW, BC, SS for deluxe, and I always come back to AKL!

Not to start any controversy...I have a mug question.....

Can I use the mugs I bought on board the Disney Wonder??? LOL Seriously, does AKL have the skinny mugs(the ones that fit in a car cup holder) or just the fat ones???

I believe they have Both, I didn't bring my Mug, I had "found it" a few years back, while visiting the resort, on top of a Garbage Can, I just brought it home and washed it in the Dishwasher, its brany newie!

Standard I think? Pool view w/ bunk beds.

HOLY COW!!! You have got to be kidding me!! TWO or THREE??!! I'd be lucky if I stopped at TWO or THREE. Those things are like heaven, I could eat them constantly all day if there were enough there.

Gdad - I already KNOW how talented a photographer you are from all of your entries in the photo contest, but these from AKL are amazing!! And here I thought I might just have a chance to win the Resort/Hotel contest!!

Heatherlynn - Your photo is absolutely gorgeous!! Congratulations!! I wanted so badly to get married at WDW, and also wanted to stay at AKL, but at the time I didn't really know ANYTHING about how to get a good deal at WDW so it was WAY to expensive. We did stay at Port Orleans Riverside (used to be Dixie Landings) for our honeymoon though, and had an amazing time. We are heading back to POR next weekend for our 6th anniversary!!

I am seriously counting the days until I show up at AKL again. There is nothing cooler than driving in to see this amazing hotel. It is absolutely gorgeous. We made sure to stay long enough to have time to relax and enjoy the resort this time, so if I thought I was in LOVE with this place before (with our 1 night stay) I can't imagine how much I will LOVE it after September!!

Trying to find an answer to this question, tried searching but no luck.

I booked the AKL Savanna view room with bunk beds. Now I saw a post on here that said you requested bunk beds and it wasn't guaranteed. The post was made over a year ago so I'm thinking it has changed. Since I actually paid extra for this I am hoping it is not just a request... Anyone on here know for sure?

Also are the bunk bed rooms spread around the lodge or are they in one area. Just wonder before I put a request in for location... Zebra trail seems to be a good one

I also booked Savannah-Bunk beds and I assumed it was guaranteed, since the rate is higher.

This is one of the more recent threads I've found on it... Mabe they changed the booking since then. This is my first time at AKL so have never looked at how they were booked/requested in the past.

It is my understanding that you only get bunks if you pay extra or you get upgraded. There are no longer standard bunk rooms.

In other words, if you want a bunk, you pay extra & it is guaranteed! Yay!

Bunk beds now are a separate category so you should get one. I think they are spread around; we had one last year on the Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah. We prefer Zebra Trail but Kudo Trail with an Arusha Savannah view is good too - just further from the pool, etc. Proximity to the pool and food offerings is one reason people prefer the Zebra Trail.
