I've got a question.

Our reservation says Deluxe-Kilamanjaro Club. Will we be put in a regular room at check in due to the construction. There isn't any price difference between a deluxe and a non deluxe club room is there?

Why does it take AKL CL so long to respond to e-mails and telephone calls?

My sister and I are arriving 11/9 for CL. Should we be worried? I have been looking forward to a great view for her as she has had a very rough year. Also, can we check in at 7:30 that morning? I wouldn't expect the room to be ready, but just to use the lounge and get a feel for the place before heading off to the parks.

EGADS! News of DVC construction already beginning, people requesting Zebra Trail: Arusha Savannah view and getting a view of Fecal Flats, 60 degree weather . . .

This was NOT what I was hoping to read with 2 days to go until our first stay at AKL. I requested Zebra Trail, Arusha Savannah view as well, PLUS this vacation is for our wedding Anniversary!

AAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Stress I do not need . . . .

Yes, you can check in at the lounge after 7 am, so you should be fine.

....there WAS a slight difference in price, but it was nominal.....as for the CL 'team', just be patient with them - they are SOOOO overworked and SOOOOO short-handed.....they DO try to 'go the extra mile' for you.....

I'm still working on the trip report-- Day 2 part 1 is up. Day 2 part 2 will have the verdict on the new room. And on Day 3 I'll share the interesting "secret" we learned about "Fecal Flats" (clever name!). I hope to get more done tonight and over the weekend.

I really hoped this would be a special trip for us -
It's kind of a combined birthday (Paul's and mine) and anniversary trip.

Hi Guys!
This is a very long thread! It sounds like AKL is the place to be!
BUT....ikes! I'm a little in a tizzy, can someone fill little ol' clueless me in without making me read this whole thread about construction here?
I've recently booked a Jan. vacation at AKL in concierge. I've just about called in all my lifelong chips with my DH to get this trip done. I promised him everything would be PERFECT for the amount of money that we are spending. (Maybe I should be reading the budget board instead!)
We've had a very difficult year and need a magical vacation for our whole family (OK, I just went to Disney last week, that was a whole long story, it was just me and my DD4), but this is something our whole family needs since we haven't been together for quite some time. Any info. that can help me get a clue and should this be something to be concerned about?

We are stying at AKL in 31 days!!! I have never been to the resort (even for a meal) so this should be a real treat seeing it for the first time (and dressed for the holidays too!)

Here's my question: It's my birthday on day 2 of our trip. I would really like to have a special cake sent to our room rather than get one at a park restaurant! Does AKL still do that? We are not staying concierge, so is that a problem? Lastly, who do I call to set it up?!

Thanks, Cool Cat! Now I just have to hope that we can get a room with a good view for my sister who has been looking forward to spending time on the balcony viewing animals!

I guess I shouldn't be picky as we are lucky enough to be staying CL, but my sister is a really nice person and just loves animals. She has been looking forward to this trip for three years since we first stepped foot through the doors to eat at Boma!

...sweets, I am trying my darndest to get some 'inside info' on AKL the the DVC sitch , so, you will DEFINITELY be one of the first to know.....it has been MY experience that, no matter WHERE the location, when it comes to construction, the 'powers that be' try to make it as least obtrusive as possible....if there is ANY inconvenience, they will try to 'make up' for it in other ways.....personally, I wouldn't cancel my ressies. I would wait till closer to your departure date before making any rash decisions.....

Gosh Kimmar-- if you find out any info on AKV let me know too! We were considering buying into DVC when we heard rumblings of a new property, and I need to know the whole scoop on AKV so as to make a decision! We are most likely going to the DVC presentation when we are at WDW in Dec, but any info you can share before that, count me in!

I wish i could do DVC but thats a big investment for me at this time. Plus i like going down in September to. Lol never thought i would be one going down
to Disney 2 times in a year but this year was an exception.
