Hi wallyb, you are doing the surise & sunset safari? cool.

No real advice other than let Don & Juanita book all your ADRs for you. Try not to eat anything before going on Safari from the lounge as breakfast at Tusker House is awesome and you want to be good and hungry.

Have fun planning, it won't be long now.

As i'm typing this i'm overlooking the savannah with a few giraffe's, zebra's & wildabeasts grazing in the field. There is a light rain right now and i can hear the Kilimanjaro safari vehicles in the background operating. Disney World is scheduled to operate regular hours through mid-day and then it will assess the condition of the storm and take further action. <sip of coffee>

I booked a standard room view, but i was upgraded to savannah room at no extra charge. :thumbsup2 This may have been because we had informed them prior to arrival that my nephew's birthday was going to be celebrated while we were here, so they may have taken that into account. The resort itself is not packed and we're enjoying our stay very much.

We haven't eaten at Jiko or Boma's and may not due to not having any ADR's for those places. Boma's is next to impossible without ADR's while Jiko's more manageable without them. Mara's is awesome and the free refills are wonderful. :goodvibes

...I suggest going directly down to the Boma podium and check whether you can be added....they really make an extra effort to accomodate AKL guests....

Wendypooh 2 more days.

wallyb we will miss each other by 1 week.

All these reports are getting me so excited. :cool1:

...yes, I agree...don't eat a 'heavy breakfast', but DO have something to eat (a croissant or a piece of fruit), because you will be too hungry to enjoy the safari, which, BTW, totally ROCKS! :thumbsup2

...England is crazy expensive. We went to McDonalds and it was over 20 dollars for 2 of us. :confused3...

...must be because of the 'gourmet dining'..... :rolleyes1

Not long now! Going to airport on Thursday, flying on Friday. Just a quick question: your not suppose to take towels from the pool to the water parks are you? I always hear people saying they do this and we would if its allowed but if its not allowed then we will just rent them like we have done in the past. Thanks.

...this is what WE always do: if we plan on a waterpark day, we purchase a towel AS SOON AS WE ARRIVE at BB (or TL)...now, we all have our own towel, AND a new souvenir to take home! (we have a pool at home, and I am constantly buying new beach towels for our pool...the only WDW one that I have left is our 'Fantasmic' towel.... :confused3 !)

Just thought i would join in on this thread as we have just booked for 14 nights at AKL september 07 (with free dining :jump:). We only have a standard view booked but I'm fine with this as being at the resort for 14 nights will give us plenty chance to view the animals and enjoy what the resort has to offer

I'm sure i'll have loads of questions in the coming year but for now i am going to try and read through the whole thread (i'm only on pg 15 so far...lol)

...well, if you have any questions, we will be MORE than happy to anwer them for you..... :thumbsup2 (BTW ~ :welcome: !!)

okay - I'll try this again.

:wave2: Hi everybody over here at the unofficial AKL thread!

We at AKL for 5 nights in November (first time).
We’re staying on the concierge level and doing both of the safaris offered.

Any advice for a AKL newbie?
Any cool little "thingy" we might overlook?

Welcome! If you read the entire Jambo Thread, you will find so much info about the AKL. I would suggest spending some time touring the Lodge upon arrival. Talk to the CMs, don't forget to use the night vision goggles and stop by the firepit for storytelling. Both safaris are great, but the sunset safari is my favorite. Besides touring the AKL savannahs, you get a fabulous feast at Jiko. If you're an early riser, enjoy your morning coffee on the balcony so you can watch the animals. If you enjoy wine, you will find some great South African wines at the AKL. Don't forget to visit the Zawadi Marketplace; they have some wonderful souveniers. I could go on and on, but I'm sure you'll be getting a lot more advice. Enjoy your trip!

Hello all, i have just posted this in "Theme park attractions and strategies" however I need an answer quickly becuase I'm just about to print out our itinerary for the final time, therefor i thought id post it here as well.

If the official park opening time for all the parks is 9am. What time at each of the parks does the opening of the park begin eg the awakening at AK and the Characters on the train at MK?

Well this may be my last post before leaving for the airport tomorrow. I cant wait to arrive at AKL on Friday. Thank you all for all your help and i will be sure to post a review when i get back.
