Help...we Are Staying At The Akl For The First Time This Winter In Standard View Room, What Is The Best Floor/area To Ask For? Would Appreciate Any Advice Avail. Thanks!

usewickhouse I was just about to ask the same question, going 11/30 thru Dec 6. Now I just have to Change my ticker to an AK one.

Sorry For The Dumb Question...how Do You Get A Ticker? Would Love To Add One.

Thanks for the information on the turndown service and also the carriage rides! You guys are the best. :thumbsup2

Also, it's relieving to know, scoutsmom, that I'm not the only one having random outburts of excitement! Just today I was eating lunch with my fiance and had one..."oooh! i can't wait until we are at disney world!"...he just smiles and laughs at me. But, he occassionaly as them as well... :rotfl2:

No question is dumb... :)

It's pretty easy, just click on someone's ticker/coutdown that you like, and it will take you to a website where you will have to register, and then it should take you step by step into creating your own. You will be able to choose your background and everything. At the end, it will give you code that you can copy and paste into your signature.

Hope that helps! :sunny:

Everyone has me so excited to go but I have like 3 months to go. Blah.

We like the Zebra trail also it is really close to the pool and the mara. We were on the 2nd floor and incredibly close to the animals. Have fun!!!!

Those are good questions about the turndown service...also, anyone can request turndown service, right? Or is it something reserved for concerige guests?

Hi Everyone,

Last year we spent a week at the Poly in a standard room, I requested turn-down. They did it the first night, then that was it. I called on the fourth morning thinking that they had just missed the second night. However, I was told you have to call each day that you want turn-down. It seems rather silly to me :confused3

I have recently read on another thread that the resort are short on housekeeping and some people even in concierge are not getting turn-down. So I assume it can be a hit or miss thing.

We have stayed concierge when we received turn-down service on a regular basis and that has been at AKL. We were able to request an "early" turn-down last year. They can come anywhere from 4 PM until 10 PM. After getting up early for the parks and going all day we usually are ready to return to our room around 7:30 - 8:00 PM. After we requested an early turn-down they were usually in before 7:30 PM. But, please remember this is "just a request" as they have to assign mousekeepers in a way to use their time to the best advantage.

It is so wonderful to come back to your room, the bed is turned down, lights are turned on low and music is playing softly in the TV. Then there is the card with Africian Verse and chocolates. Hmmm It is almost like pixiedust is floating in your room when you enter. And you never know...you may find a towel animal. :Pinkbounc

Wendy, How are you doing with your trip planning? You don't have long to go now. I can feel your excitement. :goodvibes

Scoutsmom, I always enjoy your posts and love the pictures of your new addition. paw: I can tell how excited you all are getting. Where did you find those purses in bulk? I have looked on E-bay, but I haven't found anything like that. Really love what you are doing.

Johnsmom, Thank you for your prayers and good wishes for my SIL. He is doing well at home with our daughter in Wisconsin. They will be out for a visit in September. I am keeping your son in my prayers. :grouphug: When are you leaving?

Hey...did anyone call and get a AP discount for AKL today???

I did, I did. It really is nice to know I saved money. Woo Hoo DH will be happy too when I tell him tonight, maybe he will say "Angel, you are so good at this Disney planning thing I think you need to book another trip for next year." :lmao: Oh well, a girl can dream! ;)

Sending out good wishes for all that are leaving soon on their vacations. I look forward to reading all about your trips. Has anyone heard from Kimmar? Sure do miss her.

What category room are you guys in again? We are in pool view and I'm thinking about asking about an upgrade to conicerge or savannah when we check-in (with intentions of paying for it).
We booked standard, but if we aren't comp. upgraded, then we'll pay to move to Savannah view!! We had such good luck in Feb. being comp. upgraded to Deluxe Savannah!! It was really nice and DS LOVED the bunkbeds!! ~~ keeping everything crossed we'll be that lucky again!

We received a courtesy call from a Virgin Holidays (who we have booked our vacation with) Orlando rep yesterday asking if we had any questions about our upcoming holiday. It made our vacation seem even closer.

Wendy & Lisa, I'm so excited for you to be going soon! You know I'll be living through you (and Kimmar) to get me through the next 5 weeks until my first visit to AKL. So don't hold back with details when you return!!

Wendy, would you be so kind as to re-post an updated activities list (with times) when you return? I know I'll still need to check the board in the lobby but I would think most of the times will be rather close to when we go next month.

Hey ~~ Yes, I certainly will!!! I just can hardly believe it's so close now!!!! I"m sooooooooo ready to go!!!!

I like the arusha savannah, zebra trail, 3rd or 4th floor. You really can't go wrong, all the rooms are great from what I've heard. There are TONS of places to see the animals from, if you should get a pool view, which is very nice too! Good Luck.

I called for the AP discount today!

My sister and I booked the AAA rate for concierge, and they switched it to AP, which saves about another $30/night. The savings off the rack rate will pay for our sunset safari. Woo hoo!

Wanted to say bye :wave2: to the JAMBO crew and wish everyone a good week! Hopefully, someone can give me lesons on how to post pics when I get back. We leave at 5:30am for the airport and I haven't started packing yet, :confused3 (not that I sleep the night before WDW anyway, just like the commercial :goodvibes ) so no more DISboards for me tonight!

LAWalz23 have a great trip and take lots of notes for your trip report. I cant wait for my turn in November!!!!

Hey all you experts just a question. Is the dinner on the balcony worth the money? We will be celebrating my DH's 40th (1 week late) and our 15th anniversary when we are there. Should we do the dinner on the balcony or just go down to Jinko and eat. What is included in this dinner? TIA.

I am considering spending the extra $114 (AAA discount) upgrading to a pool view. How nice is it? We wanna spend some actual time in our room and at the resort this time around instead of spending it ALL day at the parks, and would be nice to sit on the deck and actually look at something other then a parking lot. :rotfl: So is it worth the extra $? I know its not much, but $114 is $114. When your poor like me thats a lot of money, LOL. :rotfl: I REALLY wish we had the $ for a savannah view but maybe we'll get lucky and get some extra pixiedust: and get a free upgrade. Not holding my breath any though. But hey a girl can wish and dream, right? :rotfl: After all we are going during a year of a million dreams. If they asked me what my dream was, all I want is a free savannah upgrade with a great view of the animals. Also if I do go for the pool view, whats the best rooms? I would hate to get a pool view and see nothing but a big old tree or the roof.
