CAN you believe we are so close, we actually leave 2 weeks from tom.!!!! We are checking in a day earlier, my ticker doesn't show that we added a day!!! I'm getting so excited now!!!

I hope Kimmar is having a good time and saving us some zebra domes!!!!

We did the POR carriage ride back in May 2005. We enjoyed it. It was very relaxing, and our 2 sons loved it!
Can anyone make some suggestions on Pool view rooms? I'm thinking of saying 3rd floor, close to lobby. How does that sound?

This thread was getting lost on page 2! 16 days till AKL I asked this question a while back and i'm not sure if it was answered because its got lost somewhere in this thread. Are you able to request a time for turn down service at AKL? Any photos of AKL's turn down service? Thanks so much for all your help!

Those are good questions about the turndown service...also, anyone can request turndown service, right? Or is it something reserved for concerige guests?

Yes, anyone can request turndown service. As for requesting a "time" for turndown service........... I don't know!!! We never asked for a specific time for it to happen. Someone may answer, but you can always ask at check-in.

I received the recipe for a Victoria Falls Mist from the AKL last year. One of the ingredients is citrus juice. If any of you order this drink, would you please ask the bartender what he uses for citrus juice?

Thanks for the information. As far as pool view rooms go I would say floors 2 and 3 have some tree blockage. I thought that the views on 4, 5, and 6 seem to be fairly unobstuctable...at least that has been my expirence. 3rd floor doesn't mean you will be closer to the lobby especially if you are at the end of either Zebra (pool view here) or Giraffe trail. Zebra trai is closer to the Mara and the Uzima overlook and Giraffe trail is closer to the busses and Jiko/Boma.

I'm glad to hear he had a great first day I'm also telling anyone who will listen about my trip I can't believe we are almost there!!! My ticker says 16 days and I can hardly stand it. What category room are you guys in again? We are in pool view and I'm thinking about asking about an upgrade to conicerge or savannah when we check-in (with intentions of paying for it).

I hope kimmar is having a blast too!! The thread has been awfully quiet without her here.

My mom and sister I think are just excited to vacation. They are most excited for all the various drinks at the world (Victoria Falls Mists, Lapu Lapus. and other assorted delicases (sp?)). We are not huge drinkers, but I imagine we will manage a drink a day on the trip...because hey it is vacation. Tomorrow I have to call and get my DDE and book the carriage ride at POR.

I never imagined it would be this much work to plan two vacations just a few weeks apart!!! Yesterday I got a great deal on airfare ($188 before tax) for my 2nd trip so I decided to add an extra day and leave on the 20th for 11 nights at CBR.

Do you have everything set for your trip? How are the wedding plans coming along?

As far as the Savannah view rooms...(we will probably upgrade to a deluxe Savannah view) could anyone recommend a centrally located room/floor that we should request? We'd like to be as close to the pool/food court as possible. Thanks!

We received a courtesy call from a Virgin Holidays (who we have booked our vacation with) Orlando rep yesterday asking if we had any questions about our upcoming holiday. It made our vacation seem even closer.

Wendypooh and Lisa, (Scoutsmom) her mom and sister - we are getting there. The closer it gets the slower the days go . I have never been so excited about a WDW trip, lol i keep having uncontrollable outbursts . 14 days till i leave for the airport and 15 days till I'm at AKL, so on Monday i can say next week!! I have been packed for weeks so theirs nothing else to do except finish my park touring plans - waiting for the 2007 UG to arrive - dont know if it will get here in time because its coming from amazon.com. Anyway i must stop talking and post this.

Wendy & Lisa, I'm so excited for you to be going soon! You know I'll be living through you (and Kimmar) to get me through the next 5 weeks until my first visit to AKL. So don't hold back with details when you return!! I can't believe my ticker finally says "1 month, 1 week" - seems like not that long ago it said 4 months. I'm hoping this next month flies by quickly with the end of summer and DD returning to school. This year she has my most favorite teacher ever...he was my teacher when he first graduated from college years ago and now she will have him too! Course now he's married with a DD of his own in college...

Wendy, would you be so kind as to re-post an updated activities list (with times) when you return? I know I'll still need to check the board in the lobby but I would think most of the times will be rather close to when we go next month.

We have always stayed on the Arusha Savannah, Zebra Trail side of the AKL. The pool and restaurants are located on this side of the Lodge. Our rooms were on the 5th floor--deluxe savannah.
