Easiest way to describe them is ( as you've seen in the pics ) that they look like chocolates you'd get in a box, but instead of jelly or whatever, the texture and taste is similar to chocolate pudding. That's how i'd describe it. I got a box of ZD's and they were great....very rich. I think i'm still working off those ZD's from August 06. LOL :yay: ...

...they are very creamy with a slighty 'harder' shell-like coating...the inside is very soft, like mousse, with a slight coffee flavor to them - VERY rich and velvety!

I'm amorous  for my Crocs Too!

Well hello everyone. I just wanted to say that I HAVE FINALLY BOOKED & PAID FOR AKL!!! I have dreamed of staying at AKL for a long time and actually booked it last year but we ended up not even going to WDW. We decided that we wanted to go back and the penny pincher in me started adding up and going back to how cheap the values are. And I just thought the heck with it, we can afford it so let's do it and be done with it, no buyer's remorse.:rotfl:

So we're booked and paid for:yay: :dance3: We'll be arriving September 2 for 6 nights. But still hoping for free dining of course.

I do have a question, I did ask the CM about the construction for the DVC at AKL and he said that the pool and food courts will not be affected. Has anyone been recently and did you notice any problems with the construction, as far as being a problem during your stay? TIA

Well I looked at Jiko and Boma and it looks like a no go for us. I have very picky eaters and am actually having huge issues trying to find TS dinners they will actually enjoy the food. We did a lot of breakfasts.
Does anyone know if I can get soy milk at AKL? We just switched over and DS really likes it better so I do not want him getting used to regular milk again.
Mousetrip your babies are adorable btw. :goodvibes

We were only able to get pool view bunk bed rooms with the code we are using. Anyone know how many bunk bed rooms there are? We are 6 adults booked in 2 rooms and will be drawing straws for who ends up in the bunk beds! I asked CM to put in a request for room(s) with 2 queen beds. I'll keep checking back with CRO with hopes that something else comes up. Although, I'd be happy sleeping on the floor just to be back at AKL! One of our favorite resorts! :)

Congratulations! How exciting for your family!!

MouseTrip07 was just there and reported (several pages back) that there were no signs or sounds of the construction. :thumbsup2 I'll be there late May and will post here when we return home.

...well, Karen, it's about time!! (for you and your family to go to AKL and post again on this thread, that is....:rolleyes1 After all, we wouldn't wanna LOSE our TAG now, would we...??!?!? :teeth: )

WTG, and :welcome: back....

For our 6th anniversary (February 24th) my In Laws booked a room for us at Port Orleans Riverside (We stayed there for our honeymoon back when it was Dixie Landings!) and I am trying everything in my power to find a way to sneak back to AKL to grab a smoothie and some Zebra Domes from Mara. I was really afraid that I wasn't going to like the Zebra Domes because of the reported "coffee" taste, and since I hate coffee...... well, I fell in LOVE with them. When we ate at Boma my DH went to go get dessert and brought back almost an entire plate full just for me after he heard me rave about the ones I had gotten and loved.

As far as akipping Boma because of pickie eaters. I am telling you, I never thought that my family would like it either, which is why we passed it up so many times, but everyone found something at the buffet they liked. I think you would be pleasantly surprised!!

Dana

Jambo to all!:wave2: I finally finished reading this wonderful, big thread :) My dh, ds8 and dd6, will be staying at AKL October 27-Nov 3. This will be our first time at a Deluxe and I am beyond excited! I have enjoyed looking at all the wonderful pictures on this thread! Simply gorgeous :goodvibes We have had breakfast at Boma on one of our trips. We were able to look around just a little bit. I booked us for Savannah view. At first I did the bunk bed, pool view, but after reading this thread, I can't take my chance and NOT get an upgrade to a Savannah view :) I am sure I will have many questions from now til October, so be ready ;) I do have some pics I took when we went the AKL for breakfast. I will have to dig them up and share. It was a November trip and Christmas decos were up. Talk to everyone soon! :flower3:

Thanks so much! If I can stand it, I am NOT going to tell my family where we are staying. I will let that be a surpise for when we get there :) I certainly don't want my dh to see the price :scared1: ;) Even tho I got a code rate, this is more than we have ever spent, and well what he doesn't know won't hurt him, right? I haven't made any special requests for location yet. I even forgot to ask for non-smoking. I will call back and do that once I know what location I would like for sure. From what I can tell from this thread so far, Zebra trail sounds like a good choice. This may be a dumb question, but how many different savannah's are there? I see the mention of Arusha and sunset, but really didn't see those names on the map. Thanks :)

Our savannah view...we were on Zebra Trail

A kind CM took our family pic before we boarded the the ME bus to fly home.

Great pictures! :goodvibes Thanks for sharing! Adorable kiddos! My kids would LOVE to have bunkbeds. I will ask for an upgrade (quietly) when we get there. I don't want them to be excited for nothing ;) What room were you in MouseTrip? That view is awesome!

There are 3 - Sunset is on the left (or west side, hence the name) as you are looking at the front of the resort, off of the Kudo Trail; Arusha is in the middle, hence Arusha Rock; and the Uzima is to the right of the Zebra Trail.

Then, of course, you have the dreaded watering hole savannah where you might see those horrid speedosauruses and the junkyard savannah where the Suvigators live.:lmao:

I would either ask for (1) Zebra Trail where you might get Uzima or Arusha or (2) overlooking Arusha Savannah where you could be either on the Kudu or Zebra Trail if only because the new DVC building is going up on the Sunset Savannah side. We have stayed in rooms overlooking each of the Savannahs - Sunset is our least favorite and it is a toss-up about the others. I feel the best views are towards the ends of the trails but then you have a lot of walking to do. We also like the Savannah View rooms in the X456-X481 building as long as we are on 4 or above (it is near the hot tub and an outside viewing spot so it can be noisy on the lower floors). A lot of people prefer the 3rd floor because the lobby is on the 3rd floor.

Oh dear, where is this location? With my luck, this is what I would get :lmao:
I *think* we are going at a less busy time of year, so hopefully we will get a nice view. Thanks for all of your helpful information. I am taking notes in my planning book :) I don't mind a bit of a walk if it means a better view of the animals :yay:
