JAMBO Everybody...An August 2011 TR (Completed May 13)

Hi Queen, I hope you guys had an amazing Christmas and New Years.

I hadn't been able to catch up on your TR for quite some time, and finally had a chance too. I really enjoyed your last couple of updates and can't wait for your next one.

That's awesome news that you guys have the furniture all assembled, and I'm looking forward to seeing your pics :goodvibes

Happy New Year everyone! Jasmine is getting ready to go to work and I thought if I don't sit down right now and get another post done it probably won't happen! My goal today is to get the tree down and all the decorations put away...I don't particularly love this part of the holidays....I love having my tree up as I'm sure you all realized when I put it up near the beginning/middle of November:lmao:

It time to finish up our day at AK! Jeff was particularly excited about going on safari...and yes, he was jumping around in the line waiting to board! It was like having two 6 year olds on the trip....except MM was a bit more mature....he'll kill me for that one!
347-1.jpg

Thought I better grab this shot before we started bouncing around and then I never know how they'll turn out! This is also where the TR title came from....when the driver said Jambo everyone....that was it, Jeff took it on as his own personal saying for everyone and everything we did on our trip from here on out!!! As a matter of fact, he still does it whenever he sees MM and SW!
348-1.jpg

Entering Harambi! I do love this adventure....I love how it's different no matter how many times you ride! I find it a nice break to a very warm day...we all know how warm AK can be in August!
350-2.jpg

Hippos!
354-2.jpg

Who doesn't love the giraffe's? I find them so majestic! Jeff couldn't believe how close everything was .... he didn't stop talking the whole safari!
358-2.jpg

These guys caused quite the traffic jam! He finally moved only to have the next group stop us!
362-3.jpg

Jeff couldn't believe that he was seeing these guys so up close! His favorite Disney movie is The Lion King so this was really something....in all the years we have been coming to Disney, we'lve never been this close!
363-4.jpg

Another one that unfortunately turned out a bit blurry
367-3.jpg

On to the elephants!
370-3.jpg

Can't remember what these were but thought I would post it anyways!
379-3.jpg

I found this guy a bit un-nerving being so close! We all kept telling Jeff he was our good luck charm because we had never had a safari like this before...he replied with "Your welcome I do my best" BOYS!!!
382-3.jpg

After a wonderful safari we headed over to FOTLK...my favorite attraction on property hands down! This is the only picture I have as I only enjoy the show, I used to take pictures but then felt I didn't get as much out of the show! It was just as good as always!
383-3.jpg

From FOTLK, we headed to Dinosaur! Jeff kept asking what kind of a ride it was so I did what every good person would do with someone new to DIsney....I lied to him:rotfl2: I told him it was a quite ride kinda like a documentary of dinosaurs...he was very excited......
388-3.jpg

....this picture makes me howl everytime I look at it! Jasmine's big brave man....NOT!!! We created quite a stir in the gift shop laughing at Jeff's reaction!
389-3.jpg

We decided it was time for lunch and we thought since we hadn't been to RFC in years that we would treat outselves for a nice lunch!
391-3.jpg

Waiting for our lunch
392-3.jpg

Jasmine and I shared this appetizer plate!
393-3.jpg

Once we were finished lunch we headed to the bus to get back to the pool!

I will upload some more pictures and hopefully get another update done...I really need to get moving on this TR!!!!

That's amazing how many animals you saw on safari and how close they came to the vehicle!

I love the RFC! I wish they had one here!

I hope you had a wonderful Christmas and Happy New Year!!
I took my tree and decorations down on the 27th as it's been pretty quiet around here since DD left on boxing day to visit with DS who is living in Copenhagen. That only leaves one son at home and the other is married.
DH had to work new years eve so I thought it would just be nice to have the tree down and decorations put away!! :goodvibes

I'm looking forward to seeing photos of your new furniture!!

Debbie

Looks like a fun day at AK and the Pool!!! Did you see that RFC is now included in the DDP!?! I haven't eaten there since last year and it was good but overpriced IMO compared to other dining locations!

It looks like everyone was having such a great time at Ak, and what awesome luck to have seen the animals so close.

I love the picture of Jasmine and Jeff before your safari left, it really shows just how much fun they were having, and how funny about Jeff adapting Jambo as his own personal saying.

The RFC is one of our favorites, and your meal looks delicious. It's always also a nice break from the heat at AK.

Can't wait to hear more:goodvibes

I think I have been guilty of mostly lurking on your report. Just wanted to come out of lurkdom to say happy new year and thank you for sharing your trip with us. I'm having a great time following along. I'm getting a kick out of all of it but mostly Jeff's reactions to things.

How could you tell him Dinosaur was like a documentary?? :scared1: :lmao: The first time I rode I was not yet a DISer and hadn't done any homework. I figured the ride was something like the Universe of Energy in Epcot. If my ride photo could ever be recovered I am sure it would be hysterical! :rotfl:

Thanks again for sharing. Hope you've been enjoying your new furniture at home and you all had a happy holiday!! :goodvibes

Great update, Queen (and good to have you back). Love how many animals you got to see and how excited Jeff was with the safari. The redneck photo of Dinosaur is a hoot and I'd be holding that over his head for awhile. ;)

Coming out of lurkdom to say great update! I loved Jeff's reaction on Dinosaur -- priceless! :rotfl2:

I completely agree with you on the giraffes. I could watch them for hours!

YAY THE SAFARI! I really wish you took a video of some of these moments, Queen. I would've loved to have seen Jeff jumping along while you were waiting in line- the youngest of the group at heart lol But glad to see he really enjoyed it and that's awesome how he adopted the phrase the ride begins with. Total DISer ::yes:: It still shocks me though how people always yell about how some animals get so close on the safari or missing out on some animals and it seems both times I've been on the safari, they are just drawn to the trucks. Seriously, an Ostrich was within arm reach of me, it was insane! I wonder if its just us guys who are good luck charms. That's right I said it! :teeth:

FotLK, another show I must see and the way you talk about it Queen, the better it sounds. Top of my list next trip, top of the list (if I had one lol)! ;) And that is such a great picture of you guys on DINOSAUR! I must say out of all of you, Jeff seems the most terrified. You look like "WOW, THAT IS ONE HECKUVA DINOSAUR!" then Jasmine is like "Not looking, it will be over" and then Jeff is "OMG, I'M GOING TO DIE! I'M GOING TO DIE! JASMINE SAVE ME!" I don't think you guys said any of that, but that's how I interpret it :)

Mmmmm... RFC looks so good after all these years. More reason to go to one of the nicer ones in WDW :cloud9: And pool time again! You guys really get a lot out of those pools! I mean, AKL does have the best, but still you guys look like you have a lot of fun. :thumbsup2

Can't wait to read more! :mickeyjum

wow, the animals did get really close to you on the safari! One time when I was on it a rhino almost backed up into the side of our vehicle, it was pretty scary. haha that pic of Jeff on Dinosaur is great, thats how I usually look! How was your meal at RFC? When I went to the DTD location, the food was just so-so.

Happy New Year to you and Jasmine!!! Did your furniture arrive?? If so we need pics please :) Looks like a fun day in AK!!!

I am so enjoying Jeff on this trip and his Dinozaur pic was priceless. Shame on you for making up a little white lie about the ride. :rotfl2:

So glad you got a chance to update. What a lovely morning at AK. I really do love that park! I will wait patiently for your neck one.

YAY an update, Ive missed you!! :goodvibes

Your safari pictures are awesome, I have never seen the animals that up close, maybe the giraffes once, but all those animals right next to your ride vehicle, how cool!!

O M G the picture of you guys on Dinosaur can only be described as :lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

That just made my day!!

Joining in late. I am loving your report (thanks for the links). The pool at Jambo looks wonderful, we need to get a trip in there soon. We are actually staying at SSR, which you like better? I would love to hear why.

Sorry to about the passing of your mother... I am sure it made the holidays tough at times.

:cool1: woo hoo for an update!

I love your pictures of the safari! I guess the animals like the hot August day!
