Jambo 1br vs OKW 1br....

Heading down to the swamp October 2-7. I have OKW booked as it's our home resort. I am also on the waitlist for Boardwalk and Poly, though I am not hopeful. There is some availability for an AKL 1br, and I am having trouble deciding whether or not to switch reservations. We are traveling with 2 boys ages 6/10. They have both been to both resorts before.

I agree w/ this. We did a few nights at Jambo house last March and my 5 year old is now obsessed...easy decision!

I'd recommend Jambo as well, especially if the 1BR is a savanna view. The pools at AKL are really fun, if your boys enjoy swimming (you'd have access to the pool at Jambo and also the pool at Kidani). The dining options at AKL are also much better.

A pro for the OKW room is it's going to be a little bit bigger, so many a few extra square feet to spread out would be nice. Both are 2 of our favorite resorts, so you really do not have a bad choice.

I have stayed at both. Animal Kingdom is better for activities, restaurants, and just hanging out in the room looking out the window. Old Key West has more space in the room to run around.

I would choose Old Key West if I had a car, because parking near the room is easier than finding a space in a large lot. Conversely, if you plan on using Disney buses, it will be easier to get on and off a bus at a single location (maybe with one stop at Jambo) rather than walking to the nearest bus stop and potentially making multiple stops.

Jambo - all the way. With both resorts you are stuck with busses only to the parks but at least with Jambo you are only sharing with Kadani potentially vs taking the grand ole tour of OKW every time. Food options are much better, and it's just a nicer resort IMHO. And Animals!!!

My vote for Jambo too! With kids? Can’t beat it.

Kidani 1BR is cool because the second bathroom, but we found the experience at Jambo much better all around. OKW gains points if you’ll be driving to and from the parks, etc. Those are some points I’d consider… before ultimately choosing Jambo 1BR

I picked OKW and I am slightly partial as I am staying those exact dates with the whole family at OKW in a Grand Villa. I know I am most definitely in the minority but the one hotel in my signature that we all really didn't care for was AKL. Something about the dark interiors and more importantly the smell. Animal smell outside and we did not like the official smell of the lobby here at all either (Riviera has the best smell by far IMO). We do love the overall feeling of OKW from the JB songs on the busses to the little Gurgling Suitcase. And the boat to DS is really a great amenity.

Family is not an OKW fan and we love Jambo's lobby and Savanna. Not Kidani either.

I love Jambo for the pools, food, atmosphere, and everything being all in one. We stayed in a value 1 bedroom with 4 and had plenty of room. That said my 7 year old likes OKW and SSR better. Our teen is with me on Jambo. I haven’t visited in early October but if it’s still an extremely hot and wet time of year (which I think it is) then I’d definitely choose Jambo. I do like OKW but I’d prefer the spread out resorts for winter trips.

Jambo during the holidays is fantastic though.. it has as grand of Christmas tree as VGF and CCV during those times

Some (like me) might even say more grand! The Jambo lobby at Christmas is awesome!
