okay, I made you cry while reading my update. I made MYSELF cry while writing it. So my question is .... since I peed (a little while reading your poo installment did YOU pee while writing it?

oh and I have to agree that breakfast at the bakery is the perfect use of a CS breakfast, it's probably the only place I WOULD use one for breakfast, kwim?

And FWIW...I think I gained 5 pounds just LOOKING at those bakery pictures!!!!

BUT...what a great use of CS credits for bkfst!! Good idea since we always share credits and have a lot left over...next time we will use some for bkfst at the Main st Bakery.

TA-DA!!!!! As Joey would say - I'm back, baby!!!!! Don't remember when he said it, but I know he did.

I unplugged and removed my hard drive to take it to the computer guy this morning... one side has a window instead of a solid metal side, so I could see how filthy it was inside. Well. We can't have anyone see that, can we?

So I pulled out the Dyson and figured out how to take the side off the hard drive... vacuumed everything and then decided to see if that would do the trick...

And, obviously - it did!

CHAPTER 57: Winding Down – Still DAY 8: SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2007

After we had eaten, and Rhonda and I pledged the Main Street Bakery would be on the next trip’s spreadsheet, we headed off towards Tomorrowland. I wanted to do the Monsters Inc. Laugh Floor once more. Basically the same show, jokes and animations were a little different. I think Meg and Brooke will get a big kick out of it.

Have we ridden the Tomorrowland Transit Authority yet? Well, no time like the present! And as we exit, Rhonda notices the sponsor – THE A-LAME-O!

We spend a good amount of time in the MK before we have to leave – I think we did a lot of back and forth crossing of the park, just hitting the rides we hadn’t done yet or wanted another ride before we left. At one point, we passed the castle – and I don’t know if we timed it this way or it was just luck – but we got to see Cinderella’s stepsisters and stepmother. We couldn’t get in line because of the timing, but we did get to watch them for a few minutes. Meg will want to see them on the next trip!

I realized in the park that I had already turned my mind to the September trip… everything I saw I thought of Meg or Brooke. I can’t say which kind of trip I prefer – no kids or kids. They both have their advantages. And I don’t know if Meg can still be called a kid… although she doesn’t pay for herself, so I guess she is!

In my itinerary, it says lunch is supposed to be Casey’s, but we ended up at Pecos Bill’s for some reason. We must have been hot and tired – there’s no pictures of lunch, or rides, or characters, or even bad shoes!
Our pick up by Magical Express is about 3:30, so we need to leave for the hotel about 2 and get our bags from bell services. We actually leave early, to go check out the hotel one last time.

We also want to stop at Exposition Hall on Main Street – part of our package included a free 5x7 PhotoPass picture for each room. (which I am glad to say they let us do on the same bill!) I believe it was about noon when we got in line. How long were we in line? Long enough for Ruth, who had gotten the news from home that someone had a baby, to go back to Fantasyland and buy baby clothes in Pooh’s Thoughtful Shop.

It took close to an hour to get our pictures. Sandy and I each got 3, Rhonda got 2. Or did Sandy and I each get 2 and Rhonda got 1? Yeah, that’s it… the picture of our backs with Mickey (sorry, not backs, BUTTS!) and the one where we’re holding Tinkerbell in front of the castle.

Finally time to head to the bus stop. But look! Waiting in line at the bus stop – to go to the Animal Kingdom Lodge – was a duck! Literally, he was standing where the head of the line is at, looking in the correct direction for a bus!

We got in line behind him and he turned to give us a dirty-duck look. I assured him that we were aware that he was in line first. We would have totally freaked if a bus had pulled up and he had hopped aboard! But that really is what looked like would happen! And, no, it wasn’t Doggie/Duck. I checked.

He left before the bus came – someone with spilled popcorn grabbed his attention – who knew ducks could have ADD, too?

OMGsh...that banana bread looks sooooo good!! Unfortunately, I am very allergic to bananas and walnuts (along with coconut and pineapple - so the Dole Whips are out for me, too). Too funny about the duck in line for the bus. I wonder if any of them have ever hopped on?

CHAPTER 58: Meanwhile, Back at the Ranch, Ummm… Savanah – Still DAY 8: SATURDAY, MAY 5, 2007

***Forgot something from the Magic Kingdom! On the Keys to the Kingdom Tour, we had learned about Tinkerbell flying before the nightly fireworks. We learned Tinkerbell weights about 100#, was never played by (despite rumors) TinkerBill, and works great hours! We also saw, on part of our backstage tour, saw where Tink lands after her flight. Rhonda discovers later that the spot is actually visible from the Magic Kingdom – but only if you know what you’re looking at.***

BACK TO REPORT: When we get back to the resort, Rhonda asks me to show them the savanah with the ankole cattle I had found. I take them back to that stairwell, then we head to some chairs on one of the lookouts for a while. Next we decide to head down to the Kopje area for a little more animal watching.

Rhonda and Ruth head outside, Sandy and I head to the bathroom under the stairs by Boma (Remember that spot? We haven’t been in that area since the first night!)

On the way back, we stop and flip through a drink menu in the bar. Hmmm… do you think we can talk the other 2 into a drink? Let’s try!
As we get to the doors leading outside, we find Ruth in a chair inside. Again, without thinking, I crack up and ask, "Already?" and head outside to find Rhonda.

We find her and she had no idea Ruth was inside already. Rhonda’s all the way at the end of the Kopje, talking to a guide. He’s given her a bunch of information about the animals.

QUESTION: How many giraffes are there at the AKL?
ANSWER: More than 11, less than 13.

You can’t make this stuff up, folks. That was his actual answer.

After we get there, they change the guards, I mean guides. I say, "Let’s ask this guy all the same questions and see if their answers will match."

The new guide says, "They won’t."

And the departing guide says over his shoulder, "Mine will be the right answers."

So I casually mention to Rhonda that we saw the bar and the drink menu looked yummy… and I’m just leading up to a hard sell when she blurts, "Let’s go!" and takes off.

I look at the guide and say, "Well, that was easier than I thought it would be!"

We find an empty table in the bar (it’s 2 in the afternoon – all the tables were empty!) and they look over the drink menu. It all looks so yummy! There’s something called a Lava Colada and something else called a Lava Smoothie. Both are raspberry puree and pina colada.

Ruth and I head up to the bar to get our drinks. Ruth orders a beer. Rhonda, Sandy, and I decide on the Lava Smoothie. As I’m waiting for the bartender, I start thinking about why there would be 2 names for a very similar drink. I break my "Ask First" rule and order them both the Lava Smoothies we had decided on and a Lava Colada for myself – so I can see the difference.

The bartender asks if these are going outside. I tell her, "No, we have a table." And point to the column that Rhonda and Sandy are sitting behind. She then tells me she’s going to put the kids’ drinks in plastic cups anyway.

Oohhhhhh…!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I get the difference!

I also get RUM in mine!!!

We bring the drinks back to the table and I’m laughing. I explain the mix up and they are fine with their kiddie drinks… Jack was really, really happy that he had finally found the rum!!! But he asked why the rum was half-gone.

That pirate is just never satisfied!

The alcohol loosens my tongue a bit and Ruth and I almost get into it over my calling her an "enabler". She’s telling me about how she takes care of everyone around her and handles all their business for them because she likes taking care of them. I tell her that maybe they were adults and could manage their own lives. She says her family is always making messes of their lives and she has to come in and fix everything for them. I say maybe if she stopped being a safety net every time they messed up, that maybe they would learn to be responsible and learn to take control over their own lives.

It’s finally time to head down to bell services. It only takes a few minutes to get our bags and then we wait for our Magical Express bus.

And IMO it sounds like Ruth needs to take a few time outs from Disney trips, she's wasting her money . But I guess there's always a party pooper in ever bunch, huh? You'd think that being in Disney would constipate her though

I'm sad this is coming to an end.But at least you have ANOTHER trip to write about and look forward to But I don't have room to talk though, do I?

If you have gotten to about page 45ish in the book, or if you have just heard of him anyway, there is going to be a TV show on about Ubbe Iweerks (sp?) coming up. It's on a weird channel, so I'm not sure I get the channel, but I got the info from the Kirby Bartlett Sloan site - he posts the upcoming Disney related TV shows.
