Jaime's Flower Power Trip! NEW 7/05 CH. 62: The "Really" End **COMPLETED**

Rhonda is buying a Paul Revere & the Raiders CD at a cart in America… has she never heard of Amazon.com???

:lmao: Maybe she thought it was a river in Japan:confused:

Classic

No sooner did I take that picture than SHE walked by… I would love to know what she was dressed for, because I cannot even begin to fathom it! So of course I took a picture!

34%3A354%3B74%7Ffp67%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A76635%3A%3Aot1lsi

I can't tell you how many stilletos I saw during my trip:confused3

I'll keep my crocs, thank you;)

As a matter of fact, that "SHE" is ME! I had a hot date with Jack so I got all gussied up! :lmao: :rotfl: :rotfl2: Aw, just kiddin! Wouldn't it be funny if "SHE" did find herself on your trippie though? Then you could begin to reform the poor girl on proper footwear for the World! :confused3

Still loving your report! Keep it comin'! popcorn::

Ok, just for the record.
About Peter and Gordon.
Having kinda been there,,, oh wait, that was kind of funny. You know, Peter and Gordon,,,, for the record? never mind. You are correct, World Without Love is there most famous song, the most played on the oldies stations. My favorite has always been "Go to Pieces". , But the quirky song that all the guys sang in sixth grade was "Lady Godiva". Of course we did.
It was about a NAKED woman.

By the way, in your P and G diatribe, you also mentioned the song by the Teddy Bears. "To know him is to Love him." Richie and Potsie actually sang it to Fonzie in an episode once. But the guy that wrote the song is just about to go on trial in a major murder case.
Phil Spector. he is very strange.
Ok, I'm done. Resume:goodvibes

Mo - pug:

THAT is one of the funniest lines I've ever heard!!! :rotfl2:
And - "welcome to the Croc Side, Luke. I am your father." :darth:

THAT is my biggest (well, ok, after sharks and airplanes) fear - that one of these people will recognize themselves...

Oh, well, I didn't dress them - why would they be mad at me??? :rolleyes1

:lmao: That was funny - "for the record". P&G did mention Phil Spector writing for them. They even made a couple of prison jokes - which I thought was weird. Rhonda had no idea Phil Spector was on trial!!! So I had to share the whole story. I'm a bit of an entertainment and court tv junkie...

CHAPTER 24: Yadda, Yadda, Yadda… – Still DAY 3: Monday, April 30th, 2007

We check in at Alfredo's and get called almost immediately. We are led to the back room by the kitchen 3 tables down from where we were seated a year and a half ago. We open the menus and Rhonda is suddenly really happy – the pork she never got to try is BACK ON THE MENU!!!

34%3A363778%7Ffp66%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7663642ot1lsi

I had spent weeks trying to figure out what everyone would think of me if I ordered the fettuccine Alfredo as an appetizer and a main course…

34%3A363778%7Ffp69%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7667459ot1lsi

but I am spared the embarrassment because there is lobster bisque on the menu.

34%3A363778%7Ffp69%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7664979ot1lsi

Yeah, buddy!

Now, if you haven’t read my other report where I describe our meal at Alfredo’s, here the link:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1015007

It’s post #3. Go ahead, I’ll wait.

So, it should really come as no surprise to any of us that when the waiter comes to the table, he talks to ME and only ME for the entire time…

After he takes our drink and food orders (I ordered a Bellini!

34%3A363778%7Ffp6%3A%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A76635%3C7ot1lsi

Peach nectar and white zinfandel, I think) and leaves, I mention the weird staring to the group. No one else noticed it.

[crickets]

ARE YOU KIDDING ME?????????

But when he comes back, they do notice… it was weird. But this restaurant has always been weird for us.

The lobster bisque was wonderful – wait… they’re closing, what do we care about how the food was? Who am I helping with a food review???

Yadda, yadda, yadda for the rest of the meal.

("Wait, you just yadda, yadda’d over the best part." "I mentioned the bisque.")

:happytv:

OK, Ruth got lasagna

34%3A363778%7Ffp63%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7667788ot1lsi

and Sandy got the trio - Trittico di Pasta - Lasagna, Ziti with a fresh plum tomato sauce and pasta dumplings stuffed with imported black truffles, mushrooms and cheese.

34%3A363778%7Ffp67%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7664995ot1lsi

I tried a dumpling – yummers!

Rhonda proved we all had a good time during dinner – and look! Ruth is smiling!

34%3A363778%7Ffp6%3A%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A76677%3A2ot1lsi

For dessert, they brought around a dessert tray, I asked if I could take a picture of the entire tray, seeing as I knew we couldn’t order them all!

34%3A363778%7Ffp64%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7667476ot1lsi

Then on the way out, I snapped a shot of the granddaddy of all desserts – Cannolius Maximus. Doesn’t everyone need a cannoli as big as their head?

THIS is Meg’s idea of Food Porn!
34%3A363778%7Ffp6%3B%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A76677%3B5ot1lsi

Full and exhausted, we make our way out of EPCOT before Illuminations (I know, I know...) :sad2:

Have I mentioned how far that bus stop is??? Jeez.

And Rhonda and I are off to the pool for another swim. Both times, she has looked longingly at the slide. The shut-down-for-the-night slide. We splash around for an acceptable length of time. We smile at the number of tiny tots splashing around to their hearts content in the zero-depth entry area and the number of parents and grandparents standing in shin-deep water watching the tiny tots.

I think I freaked Rhonda out a little when I told her the pool was so authentic-looking that I expected a hippo to swim by at any moment… Not that the "hippo" part freaked her out, but that "I actually thought a hippo might swim by" freaked her out. Except I just read in someone else’s trip report that they had the same feeling, so there!

Beddy-bye time! What a fantastic day!

HIGHS: Flower Power concert, meeting Figment!, dinner at Alfredo’s, Rhonda enjoying her turkey leg

LOWS: Feet really starting to bother me, Ruth telling me to move furniture in 980 degree weather

Oh, Jaime, Jaime, Jaime! Don't dis our sex symbols and we won't dis yours!! :cool1: ANYONE who was part of the British Invasion was sexy by definition! They were BRITISH - they had long hair - they had ACCENTS! :cool2: (And I have to add that most of MY guys were a little before them - Ricky Nelson, Frankie Avalon, Fabian, the Everly Brothers, Johnny Tillotson, etc., etc.) I went to see Nelson in memory of their dad when I was there, all by myself! (The rest of my family left!) They're cute guys, though, and about the age of MY kids! :dance3:

No,no, no dis'ing... I listened to Culture Club, for heaven's sake!

I really was trying to fit them into musical place - not really make fun of Rhonda... well, just a little... :rolleyes1

Boy George rocked! We're of the same era, you and I! Did you graduate in 85 or 86? Me - 86, my DH 85. And we grew up on the other side of the lake from you - ya know, the big one, Lake MI! I love the windy city! It was just a 3 hour drive for us. I miss it!
Anyhoo... not to go all single white female on ya or anything... just pointing out some parallels! Carry on!

CHAPTER 25: Oh, Kay7979… You’re Up! – DAY 4: Tuesday, May 1st, 2007

PLANS: Back to the Poly really early, then Magic Kingdom all day.

BREAKFAST: Kona Café – 8am (OOP)
LUNCH: just keep snackin’, just keep snackin’
DINNER: Liberty Tree Tavern – 6:30pm (TS13,14,15,16)

REALITY: We need to be back at the Polynesian today for an 8:00 at the Kona Café. This is Rhonda’s favorite breakfast. I want to say Ruth paid for the cab today… but I can’t remember.

We get to the Poly and head up to the Kona check in desk. As I’m about to say my name, Rhonda says, "Tonga toast with bacon and a pineapple juice."

Not yet, Rhonda. :sad2:

We’re seated right away – I don’t know why Rhonda and I look at the menus, we always order the same items!

PINEAPPLE MACADAMIA-NUT PANCAKES FOR JAIME:
34%3A36%3B9%3B6%7Ffp67%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A766%3A6%3C5ot1lsi

TONGA TOAST BEFORE & AFTER FOR RHONDA:
34%3A36%3B9%3B6%7Ffp67%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7673757ot1lsi

SANDY'S EGGS BENEDICT:
34%3A36%3B9%3B6%7Ffp66%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A766%3A749ot1lsi

RUTH'S PANCAKES:
34%3A36%3B9%3B6%7Ffp6%3B%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7673774ot1lsi

The waiter approaches.

WAITER: "Hi…"

RHONDA: "Tonga toast with bacon and a pineapple juice."

WAITER: "Whoa."

JAIME: "Sorry about her. I would like the pineapple macadamia nut pancakes."

WAITER: "Bacon, sausage, ham, or fruit?"

RHONDA: "Wait! Fruit? I didn’t know you could get fruit!"

WAITER: "No, you already ordered."

JAIME: "Yeah, shut up. Bacon, please." :rotfl2:

We’re cracking up. Sandy orders Eggs Benedict with the sauce on the side. The waiter sighs. Ruth orders pancakes. As this is going on, I’m looking at his name tag. He’s from Lowell, MA. His name is Gary. Have you read Kay7979’s trip report? Are you putting this together faster than I did???

He walks away and I say out loud, "WHOA!!!" The rest of the table looks at me like I’m nuts! (So what else is flippin’ new???)

"THAT was Gary from Lowell!" :scared1:

Even the crickets are giving me blank looks.

I explain Kay’s report – her husband’s name is Lowell. She wrote, "Wouldn’t it have been funny if Lowell was from Gary and was being served by Gary from Lowell?"

The answer, Kay, is yes! So when "Gary from Lowell" comes back, I tell him he’s famous on the internet. I tell him the whole story – he writes down Kay’s name and the address for the DisBoards. And I ask for a picture.

34%3A36%3B9%3B6%7Ffp68%3Dot%3E2326%3D679%3D%3B9%3C%3DXROQDF%3E23237%3A7673%3A6%3Bot1lsi

Because it’s not every day you get served by Gary from Lowell who also served Lowell who was not from Gary!

He also said he remembered serving them – Kay, did you comment on his name at the time?

I am SO far behind in my trip report reading. I'm all caught up with yours now, Jaime, and I've been really enjoying it.

First off--I just CANNOT let this pass unremarked--Mary Poppins told Meg to poke you with a wand? Practically perfect, my aunt fanny! I am shocked and appalled!

I had read a trip report recently where the poster was telling about a girl who works this movie doing the announcement about no photography during the show. She then said, "But you can take pictures of me. Go ahead. I’ll wait." And then waited until someone took her picture. :rotfl2:

We had a guy doing the announcement and he did the same gag, "You can take a picture of me if you want. What? No one? Why not?" then smiled and kept up the script.

HEY! I believe that was my trip report that gave away the surprise on your trip to France! That was my first time, myself, so I had no idea it was a running joke. :rotfl:

And I got tickled that nebo mentioned me not just here but also in Kay's trip report. I love the way you keep renaming me, nebo. I think my favorite was New Mexico Army. :lmao:

I have personally never heard of Peter and Gordon. I'm sure DH has, he's older AND British. ;) I love feeling like the youngster in the crowd, too. Just a hint--go see Tony Bennett some time. I've taken my mom a few times and it's usually an entire audience full of little old ladies and their middle-aged sons. Since Mom has no sons, I get the honor of escorting her while she swoons over Tony. :rotfl:

I'm so happy I'm all caught up! I promise to be much more diligent in the future. Darn work and sick mother take up too much time! (She's much better now, thank goodness.)

:scared1: i didn't just read what i thought i did? disney should lock all of the gates to epcot before iluminations so everyone has to see it.:rotfl2:

Honestly, Thomas, I thought of you as we left - I knew you would :sad2: at me! :lmao:

Amy - first, glad your mother is doing better.

Second - THANK YOU!!! It's about time someone sided with me over the Mary Poppins wand incident! Of course, you went with teens, too - YOU understand!

Third - Yup - that was your report! I cracked up when I read it and cracked up again when I heard another version of it!

Honestly, you can tell she only nannies little ones. What kind of a maniac practically hands a teenager a license to poke her mother whenever she wants? :scared1: I TOTALLY understand, pal! And Mary Poppins is on my list now.

IF NEBO DOESN'T HAVE TO DO AN UPDATE THIS THURSDAY NIGHT, THEN NEITHER DO I!!!!!!!

Just a couple of replies:

Nicole - We have apparently been separated at birth - I also thought I could get away with 4 episodes of a soap I hadn't watched in 23 years... guess again!

And I just found out TODAY, oddly enough, that my cable company has added SoapNet! (those are angels you all hear singing, not cidadas! Which, by the way, Berwyn does not have - all the neighboring towns do, but not Berwyn.)

ETA: I met Patrick Drake, you know! (yes, I know he's an actor, but he's so yummy, leave me alone!)He and the guy who plays Dillon came to a local mall and me and a bunch of Rick friends went and hung out for the day.

Amy - I love that you have a list. :thumbsup2 And that the Nanny Witch is on it.

Jamie, your TR continues to be very entertaining, as I sit here this morning for what will surely be my only moments of rest today.:surfweb: Been way busy for the past week, and hardly any time to "DIS" or anything else, but that's a story for my own post.... not your TR!

Thanks to you though, I now need to go to Kona some morning for breakfast. We love it there - but can't do the Tonga Toast again, and we were never served by Gary from Lowell!

Can't wait for the next episode! So how long was this trip again?
