Jacob's MAW trip to WDW!! April 20-27

Hi, Britney! Your boys are gorgeous! They will have so much fun on the Wish trip!

I am sorry Jake has been through so much.

Wanted to mention that May can be very hot, even humid and September until the 3rd week of October is worse than summer. Many guests think it will cool down In Sept, but it has been the hottest times we have ever been - we've been every month except June over the last 30 years.

If it is possible, I would recommend late October - the Magic Kingdom will be decorated for Halloween and it is fabulous! It will still be plenty warm enough to swim. Whatever dates they give you, just remember to take it all in small bites and it will be wonderful! WDW can be a bit overwhelming any time of year, especially the more crowded months of late February through August.

You are doing a great planning! Can hardly wait to hear when you are going!

Showers of blessings in your dear family!

Thanks :) What do you think about April? We just got word that we will probably be going at the end of april. We are kinda used to hot weather...we live in Arizona...but not humidity. Thats the killer right there. Thanks for your advice. I am hoping with all the planning I am doing, I will make sure that we dont overdo ourselves...thats what im worried about.

April is a beautiful time! EPCOT Flower and Garden will be going on - the flower Toparies are incredible! Weather wise - during our trip (last week of April into early May) it was between 85-88 each day, some humidity, but nothing like later May through early October. Would Jake be able to use one of those spritzer type hand held fans to help keep him cool?

I think you will do a wonderful job planning - it is going to be such a special time for your family!! :goodvibes Just have a plan in place in case it is hotter than expected - maybe spend the morning in a park, then when it gets hot around noon or 1 o'clock, go back for a swim and rest - then to back at the end of the day.

We went the end of August for many years - terribly hot and humid. I have MS so the heat gets to me...we would go to the park for rope drop, plan to cover a certain area, have lunch and leave for the heat of the day when it was most crowded. We so enjoyed the pool at our resort, everyone was refreshed and relaxed, then we'd go back for a few more hours. We tried to do the things the kids wanted to see most and not worry about what we might be missing. We have wonderful memories and you will too!:goodvibes

HURRAY for dates! We'll just cross over with dates - we get in at 7 am on the 27th, so hopefully we'll have time for a quick hello :goodvibes

Not so good news for us...but I think Jacob might need a hospital visit in the very near future. He is hospitalized every few months because he does not poop normally. Well his pooping has become harder and it seems like he needs another clean out. We are usually hospitalized for about 4 days for the whole thing. The good news is, he will be nice and clean for our trip and hopefully should have no pain while we are gone. Most of his pain comes from stomach pain due to being constipated. He has been so tired and lethargic the past few days so I know it is time =(

Following along. I hope Jacob gets to feeling better after his clean out soon. Sorry he has to go through this. He is a real trooper!! I am excited right along with you guys for your trip to WDW!

My son got a Disney wish trip granted last July and it was AMAZING!!! I can't wait for you to have the same experience. Every Disney thing we see gives us a little flash back moment now. pixiedust: So cool to have those cherished memories to keep with you always. :grouphug:

Enjoy your planning, the anticipation is fun too. :thumbsup2

Just got finished reading your PTR. :) Yay that you already have dates!:cheer2: :woohoo: Can't wait to hear more about Jacob's wish trip. :goodvibes

Hi! Coming on board from the Disboutique thread. So glad you got your dates. We actually had a trip in 2011 April 21st through the 25th and the weather was really great. It was a bit warm, but the humidity was not a factor and we had no rain at all.

Hope he gets to feeling better soon and if he has to go back to the hospital, that it makes him feel much better!

Your family is beautiful and I applaud you for how you are handling something so unthinkable. I know your little guy is lucky to have you in his corner!

:wave2: hi new people coming aboard!! Thanks for checkin in on us!!

I just got done talking to MaW lady and she said our "official" dates are April 20-26. We are going to try to extend it through the weekend but who knows. I know some chapters who will and some who say its against the rules. We are just waiting for his doc to send in the medical forms saying its ok for him to travel. Once that is all in, we will get our flight info.

Jacob is doing a little better today. I talked to the doc and she wants us to come in and get some xrays done to see if he is backed up or not. So we will be doing that in the next few days.

Not much more to update on. Kinda boring just waiting for things to happen around here.

disneychic2- Thanks for that little bit on the weather. I am SO SCARED of it raining the whole time!! I am not worried about the heat....we live in Arizona. So 90's is not a big deal to us...thats still a little cool haha. As long as its not humid. I can not stand the humidity and rain! Those are 2 things that we dont get here, in Arizona, so I have no idea how to prepare for those. Fingers crossed we get good weather!!!

I just want to use this emoticon cause its so funny :crowded: I just laughed so hard when I saw it....hahahaha:crowded:

Joining in :wave2: and looking foward to following along. Your boys are adorable, so sorry Jake has had to deal with so much. Very glad you have dates for your trip. pixiedust:
My DH and I live in the Orlando area, and my DH actually works at DHS, so please let us know if you have any Disney or weather related questions. We are happy to help and know all kinds of crazy info since we go to the parks at least once a week.

Wanted to join in and say hi! We live in Vegas, so I totally get your rain fear. We went in early January this year on DDs Wish Trip. I rained every day except 1! But honestly, the rain was not bad. It wasn't like the rain we get in the desert. It just kind of spritzed. We actually only wore ponchos a couple of hours total. A word of advice, get 2 adult sized pochos for Jake's chair. Put the poncho over his head and then over the handles of the chair in the back and his lap in the front. Knot it at the bottom 4 corners after it is on to avoid getting it caught in the wheels. Pack the rain gear for the whole family in a separate plastic bag that you can pull out on the fly. Also, waterproof hats work much better than poncho hoods for non wheelchair users.

The only place we actually had trouble with the rain was Universal. Not enough places to get out of the rain, so people huddled under the canopys at the entrances and exits of rides which made it very difficult to move around with a wheelchair.

You will have a great time no matter what!

Awesome! Thanks so much for the advice. I will def get a few more ponchos than I thought about getting. And packing them in a separate bag is a great idea.
